agalloch
cant believe i ever stopped listening to them

witchxrapist 01-12-2010 03:21 AM

ashes against the grain is like the only thing by them i ever listen to anymore

so mad good though

Nepenthe 01-12-2010 03:21 AM

the mantle is still my fave but i tend to take 5 or 6 months off from listening to them at a time so that the amazingness stays fresh

beans 01-12-2010 03:23 AM
ashes against the grain is like the only thing by them i ever listen to anymore

i just threw it on and the entire beginning to limbs is giving me chills
i love it

witchxrapist 01-12-2010 03:33 AM

Falling Snow is one of my favorite songs by them, possibly one of my favorite songs period.

Nepenthe 01-12-2010 03:50 AM

agree 100%

not unlike the waves is excellence too

ashes is amazing but still gotta give it to the mantle easily one of my 5 favorite albums of all time

beans 01-12-2010 03:54 AM

i haven't listened to the mantle for a while, need to get that again

i know im probably a bit behind the bandwagon but i just downloaded both of Panopticon's albums tonight and both of them sound great to me.

whats the general consensus on them?

Nepenthe 01-12-2010 03:55 AM

very good, collapse is excellent. my favorite single track is ghosts of haymarket square off the split with wheels within wheels.

rasputin 01-12-2010 04:19 AM

all of panopticon's stuff is good, ghosts is definitely up there though

Nepenthe 01-12-2010 04:21 AM

no its definitely on the wheels within wheels split

rasputin 01-12-2010 08:43 AM

tsk, you caught the edit. i read your post wrong for some reason then after i posted i reread it and thought 'wait'. long story short i suck dick.

have you heard the s/t?

Brew 01-12-2010 09:25 AM

listening to ashes against the grain whilst travelling through Scotland last summer was awesome, the music fit the landscape perfectly.

Txus 01-12-2010 10:00 AM

The Death Of Baldr And The Coming War is my favorite Panopticon song tbh

witchxrapist 01-12-2010 11:07 AM
listening to ashes against the grain whilst travelling through Scotland last summer was awesome, the music fit the landscape perfectly.
I can imagine so. Scotland is a place I REALLY want to visit.

Jaundice 01-12-2010 11:28 AM

so wait if Panopticon is a black metal band

then what was the name of that grind band with the hip-hop parts (not magrudergrind)

Meatplow 01-12-2010 11:30 AM

Aerial views of Scotland are like the most awesome thing ever

Angmar 01-12-2010 12:25 PM

this

Morumbar 01-12-2010 02:06 PM

The Mantle is great, but I prefer Ashes or Pale Folklore.

Brew 01-12-2010 02:17 PM

I've only got Ashes and Of Stone, Wind, and Pillor. need to check out the rest of their stuff sometime soon.

I managed to sleep through the postman abusing my front door this morning and thus missed getting a copy of the Ghast album. gonna have to wait 'til thurs morning for it, mildy annoying.

yeah tis excellent. collapse is a little more well put together i think.

Stormrider 01-12-2010 02:22 PM

haha that sucks. I usually get CD's in the mailbox, but the one time they were registered and came to my front door (delivered a few months late, too), I was on vacation elsewhere.

beans 01-12-2010 02:23 PM

anyone listen to The White EP?
is it worth getting?

Brew 01-12-2010 02:24 PM

my letter box (or rather, hole) in my front door is about this big

<---->

nothing fits through it very well at all, at least in the house I was living in last year it had a hole in its door big enough for a packeted cd to fit through.

Nepenthe 01-12-2010 02:24 PM

its worth having if youre an agalloch fan its not the best thing theyve put out but its pretty much like another tomorrow will never come or the grey

beans 01-12-2010 02:25 PM

k thnx

Morumbar 01-12-2010 02:46 PM
anyone listen to The White EP?

I quite like it.
Tomorrow Will Never Come and The Grey are mostly riffs you already know and weird stuff. The White actually has some really interesting stuff on it imo.

Love this one.

masscows 01-12-2010 02:54 PM

I love the White. Hollow Stone and Pantheist are amazing songs.

beans 01-12-2010 02:56 PM

downloading now. ill now have ashes, the mantle and the white from them

Morumbar 01-12-2010 02:57 PM

AAARGARGAHSR download Pale Folklore!

beans 01-12-2010 02:58 PM

lol ok

BLASPHEMYOGAPHER 01-12-2010 03:25 PM

PF has a few good songs, but overall it's very cheesy and has horribly written lyrics. My favorites:

From Which of this Oak
Of Stone, Wind, and Pillar
Agalloch/Nest

masscows 01-12-2010 03:27 PM

I really dig Pale Folklore though it's probably my least favorite of their 3 full-lengths. I still haven't heard From Which of this Oak.

Txus 01-12-2010 03:29 PM

The Mantle is the best.

BLASPHEMYOGAPHER 01-12-2010 03:35 PM

From Which of this Oak is really good and heavily overlooked Agalloch release. Its version of As Embers Dress the Sky is really rough and almost sounds like a rehearsal, but I still prefer it to the album version.

The Wilderness is my favorite song by them I think.
