encmetalhead 01-30-2010 09:45 AM

Nope, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olympas

SlightlyEpic 01-30-2010 09:49 AM

It's still retarded, why would they possibly want to go onward to some random dude that got saluted

RetiredAt21 01-30-2010 09:51 AM

Bands are digging deep for names.

beans 01-30-2010 03:14 PM

I think it's more they want to go back to the times where Christianity/religon was a major part of everyone's life and not like modern times where most people either don't believe or it's a passing thought in their life.

SlightlyEpic 01-30-2010 05:15 PM

Or maybe they couldn't think of a name and decided to go with a shitty one, later proceeding to come up with some lame reason for it afterwards.
Or maybe they couldn't think of a name and decided to go with a poopty one, later proceeding to come up with some lame reason for it afterwards.
he have a winner

also just checked out this band they're pretty ****ing generic and gay

TUFFFFFF GUY vocals w/ 2-step parts

then some (predictable) clean singing

and oh what a surprise a breakdown with some gang vocals !

Carl Sagan 01-30-2010 05:18 PM

i like how enc thinks people actually cared about christianity in 65 ad

xkeyboardmoshx 01-30-2010 05:42 PM

GANG VOX HELL YEAH

This band is so bad. They probably misspelled Olympus and then came up with the Biblical reference to save face, because the name barely makes any sense.

encmetalhead 01-30-2010 09:02 PM

Who said ti was them? That was just my take on what it could mean.
Has anyone here heard the original recording of Converge's WFCC? I feel like it could possibly sound better than the remaster, because the mastering is what bugs me on the newer one.
I have the original and didn't even realize there was a remaster but it's probably a good thing they did, its pretty quiet relative to most other CDs that came out in the past 10-12 years. It's not like it's a particularly dynamic CD so I don't know that a louder master would really hurt it that much

RetiredAt21 01-31-2010 12:30 PM

I wonder where Norma Jean got their name, let's talk about it.

Jaundice 01-31-2010 12:34 PM

Apparently they like Marilyn Monroe.

RetiredAt21 01-31-2010 12:35 PM

What is the philosophy behind a name like that?! enc needs to elaborate.

Jaundice 01-31-2010 12:36 PM

why not name a band after a pretty blonde who overdosed on pills?

RetiredAt21 01-31-2010 12:38 PM

Ahem, I wanted enc to 'splain it to me.

Jaundice 01-31-2010 12:38 PM

he's busy listening to knives exhanging hands on working on senior project

RetiredAt21 01-31-2010 12:39 PM

Good point.

SlightlyEpic 01-31-2010 01:21 PM

my old band was called Attack of the Man-Eating Axolotl it was scene as ****

I would like enc to explain this to me too

Jaundice 01-31-2010 01:46 PM

all my old bands broke up the second they asked me to join

SlightlyEpic 01-31-2010 01:49 PM

oh yeah my band broke up before we got to record anything, it was a deeply emotional experience

Jaundice 01-31-2010 01:59 PM

i like to sit down and have a really nice discussion with some one and like conceptually start a band

and then never actually play together even once

phil_ares 01-31-2010 02:04 PM
i like to sit down and have a really nice discussion with some one and like conceptually start a band

im sick of people shitting out of playing in a band.

just ****ing play!!!!

Jaundice 01-31-2010 02:05 PM

I went over to my friend's house to start a band a couple of weeks ago but I ended up robotripping and playing pool instead

maybe next time

RetiredAt21 01-31-2010 02:32 PM

Trying to get a mad heavy hardcore band going with user MMMBop. :>

xMalcolmXx 01-31-2010 02:35 PM

i was in an anal cunt cover band for a week, a shitty melodeathcore band that i somehow got kicked out of, and a black metal/techno project

all are pretty dead

Jaundice 01-31-2010 02:42 PM

hmm once in 7th grade i was in this band that wanted to play like violent femmes and modest mouse and stuff but i was trying to do thrash

then in eighth i was in this band and they made me learn to play beverly hills by weezer and then broke up

i believe that's it.

RetiredAt21 01-31-2010 02:43 PM

I've never been in a band that lasted more than a week.

Jaundice 01-31-2010 02:44 PM

same.

xMalcolmXx 01-31-2010 02:47 PM

http://www.myspace.com/Gall0ws

black metal/techno project

pretty much taken over by my friend but whatevs. jax and durnk are my personal favorites.

Jaundice 01-31-2010 02:49 PM

Pink and Yellow has been my most successful project to date

Like, I had one girl make out with me because she liked one of the songs and one girl asked me to burn her a CD but then was like nevermind. Oh and like three or four people had them as profile song on myspace.

xMalcolmXx 01-31-2010 02:51 PM

my bands have gotten me absolutely no action. they've actually probably set me back with most women.

Jaundice 01-31-2010 02:52 PM

That's probably because you didn't write the songs with the specific intention of impressing girls.

Pink and Yellow, on the other hand, every note of that was written with ditzy hippie chicks in mind.

SlightlyEpic 01-31-2010 02:54 PM

I generally write songs about misanthropy and how much the human race sucks dick. It has yet to prove particularly successful at pulling chicks.

Jaundice 01-31-2010 02:55 PM

Oh well I write about hair dye and candy and robots and stuff like that.

xMalcolmXx 01-31-2010 02:56 PM

i don't write songs about anything i just play guitar

i think one of my techno songs is about africa though

SlightlyEpic 01-31-2010 02:56 PM

How much is it actually possible to write about hair dye/candy/robots?

Jaundice 01-31-2010 02:57 PM

The pink and yellow discography consisted of about 26 songs.

27 if you count that one about how making beats makes me happy in a way indie girls never will.

SlightlyEpic 01-31-2010 02:58 PM

wow you must feel pretty strongly about candy and hair dye

2muchket! 01-31-2010 02:58 PM
I generally write songs about misanthropy and how much the human race sucks dick. It has yet to prove particularly successful at pulling chicks.
