xxxaqxxx@gmail.com

Darkness 10-08-2005 10:02 PM

Fake single is no longer available... I luckily downloaded it though. :D

One Groovin Clown 10-08-2005 10:56 PM

I've never seen Tool live before, and boy do I want to. But after seeing that ticks & Leeches vid, makes me want to go even more. Other than the distoreted vocals they played the song wonderfully.

Darkness 10-08-2005 10:57 PM

You should see the OK show bootleg...

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-08-2005 11:35 PM

I'm not getting DSL, so you might as well upload it at your leisure for people, Mike. :upset:

YDload 10-08-2005 11:37 PM

Hey guys the top 100 Rock/Metal vocalist competition is coming up soon, and I all know who you want to vote for. That's fine; he's near the top of my list as well. But don't cheat and don't try to recruit ringers from other forums okay?

Futuro 10-08-2005 11:38 PM
I'm not getting DSL, so you might as well upload it at your leisure for people, Mike.
Dont worry slow connection buddy :p

Im not getting DSL anytime soon either :)

Moses 10-08-2005 11:38 PM

Why aren't you getting DSL, Jake?

Meh, MJK isn't the greatest singer. I wouldn't vote him through. He has an amazing range, but aside from that the real appeal is just the unique cool MJK sound.

I'd put to many above him to vote him all the way.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-08-2005 11:45 PM

Because, my dad is a fag. Some bastard told him it wouldn't work at my house, even though every other person my mom has talked to says DSL should work, my dad somehow thinks that this one guy is correct, or something.

Idiot.

Actually his range isn't at all that impressive. What is impressive is his control and tone.

Jake, that blows. Wouldn't you get your money back if it didn't work anyway?

You really think so? Do I know what a range is? Like, he doesn't always sound the same, many different styles...because that's what I meant.

Nah I think he's a pretty good singer. I thought of 100 people, so he should definitely be among them. Even if he's not the best, I still think he should compete, which is why we shall have the competition :)

Moses 10-08-2005 11:53 PM

Ah, I thought you meant like, his range of notes from high to low. Of course his variety is kind of limiting too, I mean I don't think he's ever used a good death growl before. He does have a good clean variety though.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-09-2005 12:08 AM

Ticks and Leeches.

/topic

:p

I'd agree that his range isn't all that broad, as far as octaves. He can still reach higher than me, but I can definitely get a bit lower than him.

/is bigger than Maynard

:p

His tone is just so unique though. Even with some amazing vocalists, it takes a second to figure out who's singing, but with Maynard, it's instantly recognizable, and that's something that I'm sure most everyone can agree to.

Moses 10-09-2005 12:17 AM

His style isn't as varying as say Serj Tankian's or Mikael Akerfeldt's both of whom I might vote over MJK because he'll own this next poll anyway. I can hit almost of Maynards notes and go way lower than he does but I don't sound good singing as high as he does in Eulogy.

PinkFreud 10-09-2005 12:18 AM

or jeff buckleys...

but hes a good vocalist. i would say top 20 at least.

Huber 10-09-2005 12:19 AM

Mikael would get my vote over MJK, but I don't think I would vote Serj.

Moses 10-09-2005 12:21 AM

Serj doesn't have a good tone but he has a really good range, is one of the only baritones around in hard rock and his control is really advanced not to mention all the crazy **** he does.

heavy metal kid 10-09-2005 12:23 AM
Mikael would get my vote over MJK, but I don't think I would vote Serj.
MJK, if those are the options. MA and ST seems pretty forced(imo).
But there's many vocalists that i will choose over MJK.

Yeah, he can reach super low, and on Suggestions, he can bust some wicked Mickey Mouse-esque deal. Probably my favorite vocalist in the vein of nu metal.

Moses 10-09-2005 12:29 AM

I'd probably pick Russel Allen at the moment.

Huber 10-09-2005 12:30 AM
I'd probably pick Russel Allen at the moment.
Man, it's hard to say he isn't the best vocalist around.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-09-2005 12:31 AM

Garm all the way for me.

/cues Bobo

ARCTURUS 4 LYFE!

heavy metal kid 10-09-2005 12:35 AM

i would pick Layne Staley.

Moses 10-09-2005 12:35 AM

Or anybody that sang for Borknagar..... Garm included.

YDload 10-09-2005 12:43 AM

So who says I post the freakin' thread already? Let it pass unnoticed until the day starts up?

bwnstl 10-09-2005 01:12 AM

I actually like Serj's tone and his range is incredible. I wish I had the same range.

MJK has an incredible voice as well though. His screaming capacity is UNREAL. (i.e. the 30 second scream on The Grudge) He can't hit the low notes though because he's so small. (he's like 5'6'' or something tiny like that). That's why most of us can hit lower notes than him. But capacity and tone and everything else that's been mentioned? He's nearly unparalleled in modern rock, and like has been mentioned he has an immediately recognizable voice.
