Entertaining filler sounds pretty accurate to me. It just lacked the flow and the charm of the first one.

Little Man being Erased 07-16-2006 09:26 PM

I agree that the second Pirates wasn't as good as the first but who gives a shit? Not me.

Jawaharal 07-16-2006 09:32 PM

I loved the second one. The story was alot cooler and the subplots kept it interesting throughout the film. Plus I could go gay for Johnny Depp.

JonM 07-16-2006 10:13 PM

I got really good Who tickets.

cb240 07-16-2006 10:25 PM

Superman > Pirates

Additionally, I'd like to kill anyone who is "hyped" for Snakes on a Plane.
Superman > Pirates

but why? The movie is going to be good.

cb240 07-16-2006 10:35 PM

About as entertaining as a 90 minute internet meme can be. If that's entertaining to you then, well, you're lame.

FA 07-16-2006 10:41 PM

snakes on a plane...ooooh

YDload 07-16-2006 10:44 PM

It could be the start of a new trend of movies, which is to make them bad on purpose so people will pay money to watch them ironically.

Man that would suck. But I still think there's hope for a new genre of movies: the super-satire. It's not filled with jokes like the now-outdated satire movies (the Wayans brothers pretty much killed them off), but just really really cliched so that it's funny. I think it could work and maybe SOAP is the start of it.

whatever...Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood invented movies.

no but seriously, I like that movie.

I'm not so much "hyped" so to speak as I am filled with a type of morbid curiousity.

And the Wayans brothers suck balls.

Little Man being Erased 07-16-2006 11:07 PM

agreed

...with both of the above two posts

except the bit about Snakes on a Plane because I have no freaking idea what the hell it is.
except the bit about Snakes on a Plane because I have no freaking idea what the hell it is.
It's about this crime witness guy who has to fly across the country to testify in a trial, and Samuel L. Jackson has to protect him. To complicate matters, the guy trying to kill the witness sets loose.....

....wait for it.....

SNAKES ON A PLANE

and its become this huge internet sensation in the past six months or so.

Zappa 07-16-2006 11:14 PM
Little Man looks like the worst piece of shit movie ever concieved

"lol he is a midget pretending to be a baby lol breastfeeding with hilarious results"
I think it looks better than a lot of the shit comedies out lately. But I think short people are hilarious.

Well_Respected_Man 07-16-2006 11:14 PM

It's missing Adam Sandler.

Little Man being Erased 07-16-2006 11:16 PM

hmmm, sounds like one huge drawn out joke.

Well_Respected_Man 07-16-2006 11:18 PM

While We're on the subject I reckon alot of Modern Horror movies suck. They're all about satan and children being drowned and or having a rough time at elementary school due to their affilctations with the devil.

Besides they aren't even scary. They just cheat you with a bunch of quiet scenes where they come out and go "BOOOGY BOOGY BOOOOOO!"

I felt cheated at the remake of The Omen.

asdf 07-16-2006 11:21 PM

Scary movies do not scare me. I generally end up laughing when I see them.

But I say the unrated version of "The Hills Have Eyes" and was quite pissed off with it. It wasn't scary, it made me mad. Such horrible and graphic things happend that, espcially with the group of people I was with, I really didn't need to see. It wasn't what I was expecting and it sucked.

Little Man being Erased 07-16-2006 11:23 PM

Yeah I agree with that. The exceptions being the two Saw films. While they weren't fantastic, they were fairly original and interesting. As well as being exceedingly sickening.

asdf 07-16-2006 11:25 PM
Yeah I agree with that. The exceptions being the two Saw films. While they weren't fantastic, they were fairly original and interesting. As well as being exceedingly sickening.
Yeah, I did like those movies. After the last few unmemorable scary movies I've seen, though, I knew to not bother with the remake of the omen.

It's crazy how many remakes come out these days.

Little Man being Erased 07-16-2006 11:29 PM

Actually, now that you mention remakes, I thought The Ring was excellent.

Well_Respected_Man 07-16-2006 11:37 PM

Actually I'm a huge fan of The Ring. I like movies with atmosphere and creepiness as apossed to big loud noises and blood. Like an Eraserhead vibe.

FA 07-16-2006 11:38 PM

talledega nights.....etc

I wanna see that just because I can laugh at Will Ferrell notstop....he's just a funny funny guy in my eyes.

asdf 07-16-2006 11:39 PM

I did like the ring when it first came out.

And Eraserhead. Crazy film.

Little Man being Erased 07-16-2006 11:40 PM
Yeah the Saw movies might not have been actually scary but they were definitely the creepiest movies I've seen in a long time.
Yeah.

Girl getting thrown into pit of used needles = vomit inducing.

Little Man being Erased 07-16-2006 11:41 PM

Will Ferrell rules.

Zappa 07-17-2006 12:08 AM

Eww, Will Ferrell.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 07-17-2006 12:09 AM

More like Will Feral.

Glitterati 07-17-2006 12:22 AM

Usually I can't stand Will Ferrell, but he's ok in small doses. The main reason I liked Anchorman was because Steve Carrell was in it, and he's fricking hilarious. And Anchorman is hilarious too.

Pretty much all modern horror films suck. 'Cept Shaun Of The Dead

Little Man being Erased 07-17-2006 12:27 AM

How could I have forgotten about Shaun of the Dead?

And Will Ferrell is hilarious in Anchorman and several other movies he's been in.

asdf 07-17-2006 12:29 AM

Dead and Breakfast is good. It's like a lesser known Shaun of the Dead, only slightly a musical.

Little Man being Erased 07-17-2006 12:36 AM

Musicals tend to rub me the wrong way most of the time.

But I might check that out anyway.

Kyle 07-17-2006 01:48 AM

Have you guys seen the trailer for the new Jack Black film, it's directed by the same guy who did Napolean Dynamite. It looks pretty funny, if you can stomach Jack Black that is...

For the record, I enjoyed the second Pirates of the Caribbean. It didn't have the charm of the first one (because it wasn't a complete movie) but Johnny Depp made it entertaining once again. I love watching him run in that film.

Zmev 07-17-2006 01:54 AM

you mean nacho libre? thats ages old. I saw it and liked it.

Kyle 07-17-2006 01:56 AM

Oh, it's already out? I guess I need to go see that then. I think Jack Black's funnier than he gets credit for sometimes.

br3ad_man 07-17-2006 02:27 AM

I watched a decent Korean horror film the other day, A Tale of Two Sisters.

I saw Kisschasy last night. I went with about 10 other people, so it was really fun. The only gay thing was it was full of 14 year old girls and it was too freaking loud. It was the loudest show I've ever been to, I still don't really have my hearing back.

Kyle 07-17-2006 02:36 AM

I have the DVD of A Tale of Two Sisters sitting in my room, I meant to watch it but couldn't really be bothered. Is it worth it?

It often takes me 2-3 days to get my hearing back after shows, I really need to get some ear plugs. Dinosaur Jr were one of the loudest I've seen.

Neoteric 07-17-2006 03:32 AM

So... is the new Superman movie any good? Might go see it today.

br3ad_man 07-17-2006 04:21 AM
I have the DVD of A Tale of Two Sisters sitting in my room, I meant to watch it but couldn't really be bothered. Is it worth it?
I'd say so.
It often takes me 2-3 days to get my hearing back after shows, I really need to get some ear plugs. Dinosaur Jr were one of the loudest I've seen.
I always lose the damn things. I'm going to have to get some more for Splendour.

AmericanWeiner 07-17-2006 04:29 AM

Hey how popular is Shugo Tokumaru on this forum, before I make a thread?
