Right after you get passed the first two slides by Allman, "Stateboro Blues" loses a lot of quality :p

lunch998 01-20-2005 08:59 PM

Fine, Trouble No More or Don't Keep Me Wonderin'>All*

*Excludes songs better than them.

JonG 01-20-2005 08:59 PM

The Band, CSNY, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Neil Young>All.

Illmatic 01-20-2005 09:12 PM

Eat a Peach was the Allmans' most listenable, most varied record ever. I love it. I think it's better than Fillmore East.

BludgeonySteve 01-20-2005 09:14 PM
The Band, CSNY, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, Neil Young>All.
:thumb:. Most people who introduce themselves here mention ac/dc, led zeppelin, and maybe another hard rock band and that's it. You have an awesome taste in music

Same here. It has acoustic ballads like Melissa and hard rock jams like Blue Sky. Perfect record.

Illmatic 01-20-2005 09:20 PM

I wouldn't call Blue Sky "hard rock", but that's just me.

Plus, it also has Little Martha and Ain't Wastin' Time No More.

Woodstock 01-20-2005 09:21 PM

Hard is subjective, but it's still one of my favorites off the album.

Illmatic 01-20-2005 10:37 PM

Same here. Then again, I love all the songs on it.

PinkFreud 01-20-2005 10:42 PM
Yer Album, Thirds, James Gang Rides Again. Those are the only three you'll need.
did you see him on the crossroads festival? **** he looked whacked out. oh and i really like one way out.

that greatest album poll was the hardest yet. and i cant believe a children of bodom album is winning ANYTHING.

Reaganista 01-20-2005 11:46 PM
Bob Dylan > All.
clarified.

Badmoon 01-21-2005 08:12 AM

Well, I'm sick today :D

Now for a more unheard reason why the Grateful did are so good.

Cowboy/Wild West Themed Originals and Covers

Mexacali Blues
Me & My Uncle
Friend of the Devil
Stagger Lee
Cumberland Blues
Dire Wolf
Jack Straw
I Know You Rider
Alabama Getaway
Jack-A-Roe
Mama Tried
Deal
Uncle John's Band
Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodleoo
Easy Wind

Now list those kind of themed songs from any C.R/Jam band.

magicbus 01-21-2005 08:15 AM

Woodstock, sweet avatar, I knew who it was before you told. He looks like a gremlin. But Funk 49 rules on the Crossroads dvd.

Woodstock 01-21-2005 08:55 AM

Thanks, I did see him on the Crossroads festival. He's a real character.

I think he even tried to run for president in the 70's. His slogan was, "Free Gas For Everyone!"

Woodstock 01-21-2005 10:36 AM

Ok, what do you think was the greatest decade of music? For me, it would be 1965-1975. Every single band I love reached their peak at around this time. Especially the years 67, 68, 69, and 70. I really wish I was alive then.

Badmoon 01-21-2005 11:23 AM

Yeah, the 90's had a couple of good underground years too.

Badmoon 01-21-2005 12:31 PM

North Mississipp Allstar review will be posted in a short time. Check it out!

That's the same ten years I would pick.

1967-1977 (had to bump it up two extra years to get in Bowie's last great albums)
1967-1977 (had to bump it up two extra years to get in Bowie's last great albums)
I thought about that but then I decided I'd rather include the first two Who ablums, Revolver, Fresh Cream, etc...So I went with 65-75, or maybe 66-76.

Illmatic 01-21-2005 02:59 PM

Revolver and My Generation were tough cuts, but I want to extend some love to Bowie.

Although without a doubt the toughest cuts were Highway 61, Blonde on Blonde, and Bringing it All Back Home. Oh, the sacrifices I make for Bowie.

Oh yea, I didn't even mention Bob. I think I'm happy with my choice.
