I wish they'd do a UK tour outside of festivals...

metalcritter666 04-18-2005 01:23 PM
so when do you think its coming out? i'll say it comes out early '06 and they start touring fall '06 until winter '07. sounds good ot me
Yeah. I think they might start earlier than that, heh, maybe they can play two Downloads in a row again...that would have been 5 in a row if it weren't for this year.

RustedPieces 04-18-2005 01:38 PM

I hope they make the next album good because I don't want metallica to retire and have everyone remember them as crap.

They are seriously not going to change much at all from St. Anger IMHO so if you hated St. Anger I wouldn't get my hopes up

RustedPieces 04-18-2005 01:42 PM

I liked St. Anger but the majority of people don't. That sucks.

Deth 04-18-2005 02:40 PM

I think they will change, the only two albums they stayed the same on were RTL and MOP (and Load and Reload but that's basically one album) so I think they'll continue to evolve.

lilmetallica 04-18-2005 02:49 PM

I didnt hate St. Anger (and I probally wont hate their new album) and i dont see why peole hated it
EDIT: hey creeping_deth why do you hate gothikid13?
EDIT II: Does any one know how they came up with the name METALLICA?

Yes, it is more than likley that they will change. With every new bass player there music has changed quite alot, Look at the pattern.

Kill em all - Cliff Burton
Ride the lightning - Cliff Burton
Master of puppets - Cliff Burton
And justice for all - Cliff Burton
The Black album - Jason Newstead
Load - Bob Rock
Reload - Bob Rock
St Anger - Bob rock

Look at them, the albums (Not all i know) featured here all have dramatic changes with the coming of a new bass player.

Now, its more than likley if you look at the evidence above, that with Rob Trujillo, the sound should change alot.
Also, if you look at the work rob has done in the past, if he gets any say in this new album it would be more old skool.

EDIT II: Does any one know how they came up with the name METALLICA?

Yes, One of Larz Ulrichs friends was just about to publish a music magazine, and this guy had a list of names for his new magazine and wanted Larz to choose one, upon that list was the name Metallica, Another name was chosen for the magizine, but a few months later the publisher realised that Larz stole the name Metallica from his list, As they were good friends nothing ever became of it, also the name Metallica was not copywrited either.

People hated it because it was tuned down and beacuse it had no solos.

I think lars was talking to someone and the guy was thinking of a name for his band, and he said metallica, and lars said no that is not a good name, and he took it for himself.

I think i read that off of either allmetallica.com or encycmet.com

VicRattlehead99 04-18-2005 03:46 PM

Hey whats up all?i know a crap load about metallica and their history so hey.

funkybasschick 04-18-2005 03:47 PM

i think st anger is a decent album till you hear their old stuff.after that, the music on anger just seems shallow,it doesnt have any depth, you dont notice new sounds everytime you hear it,you dont get excited everytime you hear a certain sound. cant wait to hear the new stuff with rob trujillo dat guy just rules.

VicRattlehead99 04-18-2005 03:49 PM
I didnt hate St. Anger (and I probally wont hate their new album) and i dont see why peole hated it

I hated it because of that stupid drum in it and james voice is al screming and the solos arent even half as good as they should be

lilmetallica 04-18-2005 03:53 PM

There is no solos. :thumb:
Only 2 more posts!!!!!!!! Any one else think the price of the metallica fan club membership is to high? Its like 45$ to register and to renew your membership!!!!

funkybasschick 04-18-2005 03:59 PM

their best cd is either the black album, or justice. i think lars is at his peak in that one. even though a ****load of people cant stand him, he proves himself a good drummer in justice

lilmetallica 04-18-2005 04:02 PM

Where'd that come from?
Not one REAL solo there is little riffs in the middle of the songs kimda but i wouldnt consider them solos.
Yes, the drums were rather odd, Lars seems to have resorted from his Remo Clear pinstripe skins in ST Anger, and for some reason stopped using his signature snare, and started using a piccolo snare?? For reasons unknown..

Also, wheras on almost every album Lars uses a hi-hat for 90% of songs, he has resorted you hitting a crash/Ride (Mid-Stick) to create a washy sound.. I was most certainly not impressed by the drumming on S.t Anger, but i must say the beats themselves were accually pretty skilled and complex.
I think if Larz resorted back to his Tama Starclassic Maple kit from S&M and re-recorded S.t Anger it would sound 80% better.

Also the main thing i noticed from the album was the guitars crunchy, raw sound, I think if they wen't to standard distortion with a little reverb that would have gone a long way also.
In all due respect though the riffs on S.t Anger are amongst the best.

I did enjoy Jaymez'z vocals on the chorus of S.t Anger though, I think the vocals were the best i had heard, it was just the backing vocals that let it down.

I also personally do not think solos helped the album either, I know on the original no solos are played, but on my Unnamed feeling Single, it has Dirty window live, and two solos are played in it, the first by Jaymez, the second by Kirk... I must say they didnt help the song much.
