Haha, i have -90 rep points so trust me i know what its like

Blackwater Park 01-20-2005 08:07 PM

i personally dislike when people say they listen to classic rock as a genre, because i feel like its so vast and vague, so its easy for people to say that classic rocks the best genre cause they can categorize so much stuff in it.

:p Neg rep him and quote a Dead lyric inside of the rep/

And I wish my theater was playing The Grateful Dead Movie. Now I only get to watch it on DVD :(.

G.D.M. > Winterland
Am I the only one here who hasn't got into the Dead?
Maybe, and if everyone has been enjoying them so much, then maybe you should check them out more :)

Closing of Winterland is really good but nothing compared to the GDM. Another good one is the documentary about the tour the summer jerry died. its called "end of the road" or something - i forgot

Woodstock 01-20-2005 08:10 PM

Sweet avatar Livewired. Too bad their s/t wouldn't look good at 70X70.

It's the same when people say they listen to metal. You can break it down to all the different sub-categories like Black Metal, Death Metal, etc. (don't know many metal genres) Same with classic rock, you can say you like folk-rock, blues-rock, jam bands, etc. There are probably more metal categories than classic rock categories.

edit: That is if you like metal, sorry I assumed.

Broken Arrow 01-20-2005 08:12 PM

Closest Hippie avatar I could find.

MalcolmYoungRock 01-20-2005 08:13 PM

Broken Arrow 01-20-2005 08:19 PM

I've only seen Joe Walsh on the Crossroads Festival and Hell Freeze's Over and he was old in those 2 things.

Yeah. Classic rock is just rock before mainstream got really generic. It can be many types of rock.

*we sure talk about hippie music a lot. another reason to change the thread title.

Woodstock 01-20-2005 08:21 PM

It should be the Classic Rock Community/Discussion Thread.

Badmoon 01-20-2005 08:21 PM

Hippie Rock isn't a genre.

Psychedelia/Roots Rock = Basically Hippie Rock.

BludgeonySteve 01-20-2005 08:22 PM

We were thinking of changing it to the classic rock/jam rock community and discussion thread or something to that extent

i agree, it use to be a lot smaller of a genre like in the 80's but now anything from elvis to guns n roses is classic rock.

Broken Arrow 01-20-2005 08:23 PM

Yeah we should change the title. I think we have enough of the regulars that want to change it. Don't we?
