Meatplow 05-23-2010 08:14 AM

Chris & Cosey's Heartbeat is such a perfectly constructed ambient synthpop album.

DBlitz 05-23-2010 08:50 AM

listened to some ambient today in an attempt to study

aidan baker - scalpel and deathprod - morals and dogma were nice, enjoyed them both.

i can't really get into this William Basinski album i'm listening to now though. first song was a 20 minute loop which slowly 'disintegrated'. now the second song is the same thing but 52 minutes. its not really bad or anything, i just don't find it that great

gonna listen to Stars of the Lid - Avec Laudenum now

Meatplow 05-23-2010 08:52 AM

Brian Eno's Another Green World is getting a lot of plays whilst I study recently.

Discreet Music and Music For Films are good as well

DBlitz 05-23-2010 08:58 AM

i'll check those out and that Chris & Cosey album you recommended be eventually. capped at the moment.

Ventriloquist 05-23-2010 09:10 AM

Scalpel is a great album. Check "The Dead Texan" out dblitz.

I remember getting stoned to this and Death In June once and was absolutely terrified

Meatplow 05-27-2010 08:33 AM

listening to Terry Riley's A Rainbow In Curved Air, pretty good moog ambient so far

Jyl was awesome btw Alex

Jaundice 05-29-2010 11:22 PM

ha damn I rec'd you that a good while ago, I'd practically forgotten about that record til I saw it the other day cleaning out my music folders

I've been meaning to get my hands on the album in your avatar, I've been casually listening to exotica and lounge lately

Meatplow 05-29-2010 11:25 PM

I have his greatest hits, its pretty corny.

the fact that it was influential to early industrial music is pretty lol (Boyd Rice and Genesis P-Orridge idolised the guy)

Jaundice 05-29-2010 11:26 PM

I was totally unaware of the fact, I was just reading a book about the fifties and thought it would help me get in the zone if I listened to lounge music in the background

Meatplow 05-30-2010 12:20 AM

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WECSU61U

check that out Alex

Jaundice 05-30-2010 12:26 AM

Boyd Rice is a class act, I'll take a look at it.

Meatplow 05-30-2010 12:28 AM

I sense a Brian Eno binge this afternoon.

Jaundice 05-30-2010 12:29 AM

My laptop is malfunctioning horribly so I'm listening to what I have on the desktop computer

that is, random dubstep album, limp bizkit album, american head charge album, and a gucci mane mixtape, mushroomhead album

slim pickins

Meatplow 05-30-2010 12:30 AM

lol american head charge

discovered any good nu metal lately

Jaundice 05-30-2010 12:32 AM

been worshipping the System of a Down discography.

This has been getting some listens lately, sounds like the rapped sections in Slipknot mixed with generic metalcore chugga chuggas. Bad indeed.

I feel I need to start making my way through the Kittie discography.

Meatplow 05-30-2010 12:44 AM

Kitties first two albums are a guilty pleasure

Meatplow 05-30-2010 10:49 AM

new Current 93 is out

Ventriloquist 05-30-2010 11:06 AM

^should check that out soon

Anybody here dig Murcof? I listened to Remembranza today and it's easily one of the best electro/dark-ambient records I've heard

Meatplow 05-30-2010 11:20 AM

i'll look it up, need more dark ambient

been checking out old moog experiments like Terry Riley and Mort Garson, fun stuff

Ventriloquist 05-30-2010 11:34 AM

you should def check Murcof out. I prefer this type of dark ambient to drone/dark ambient. Minimal beats, glitching noises. Check out Blackfilm as well, while you're at it check Bersarin Quartett too.

jrowa001 05-30-2010 03:12 PM

Ventriloquist 05-30-2010 03:16 PM

Meatplow 05-30-2010 03:48 PM
you can fit any band into this thread
not second wave new wave tinged apocalyptic folk you can't

FashionistState 05-30-2010 04:46 PM

Industrial is one of my ever-growing obsessions...though strictly speaking it's more post-industrial and industrial rock that I'm enjoying.
Of the 'true' industrial I really enjoy Cabaret Voltaire and Throbbing Gristle. In post-industrial I love Skinny Puppy and Angelspit (if they count).
Not really much of an EBM/aggrotech fan, though I quite enjoy Nitzer Ebb and Aesthetic Perfection.

Jaundice 05-30-2010 07:24 PM

I have an Angelspit album tucked away for one of these days

Countorus 05-30-2010 07:50 PM

been power electonicing so hard

Jaundice 05-30-2010 07:53 PM

im sorry to hear that

Countorus 05-30-2010 07:54 PM

u better

FatalEnergy 05-30-2010 07:59 PM

I don't know where to talk about them exactly, but Gnaw Their Tongues is killer.

Somebody said that stupid band Yoga was "Black Metal's answer to Throbbing Gristle", but they're ****ing gay.

This band fits that description way better.

Countorus 05-30-2010 08:02 PM

gnaw their tongues is defintley awesome, their latest 2 disc full length was superb

Prepare to find a lot of boredom after 1995 or so.
