NOFX is not punk in the least. Like...I dunno. Learn a thing or two about punk, and it's current state, and then you can see if you still consider them punk.
They're a sold-out, pop-punk act who gets kids to swear they're punkrawk by bashing politics and crap.
I was listening to NOFX, Minor Threat, the Offspring, Sham 69, the vibrators and Fugazi when you were still wearing diapers. So don't try to give me a lesson about "What is punk and what is not". |
Is google down for anybody else? Or is it my very weird acting internet?
|
oh, and name me some of your "punk" bands. I'm very interested to see who hasn't "sold-out" yet. yes they'res brackets they for a good reason: Punk has always been sold-out from day one. The Sex Pistols, The New York Dolls, The Ramones, GG Allen... all the biggest sellouts ever. The Sex Pistols were a marketing scheme of a Malcom McClaren. The New York Dolls were also a MM enterprise. The Ramones "sold-out" a bit later, but "sold-out" all the same. In the 80s, all the big California bands, the basis of 80's punk, where all "sold-out" trying to be original and inventive, wearing stage costumes and ****. The 90s had Grunge... and with it came Nirvana, the biggest "sell-outs" in the 90's. Merch, merch, merch were the order of the day in the 90s. And now we come to the new millenium. No wonder why people bitch about "sell-outs": people are too stupid to realise that punk has always been sold out. Always has, always will be, "SOLD-OUT"

Just finished (before my previous post, actually) playing open handed for a good half hour. Basically play anything i think i won't be able to play and practice it. Jam with my left hand leading and keeping time to develop it. I gotta also go back to rudiments and see how those go.

I've got kind of a dumb question:
Why would yamaha make two different drum lines with the same shell as in the absolute birch and the recording custom |
i also have a dumb question. what's with people? i see so many stupid arguments and conflicts over the most retarted things. i mean really, what does it matter? you can spend your whole life taking part in these petty little arguments, but then what? what happens when you wake up one morning and turn on the tv and there's your friend laying dead in an alley somewhere that you told to fuck off because he ate your sandwich.
not that has anything to do with the kind of stuff i see in here, but it's just an example. and i see it everywhere... so what's the point? why start a bunch of shit with people when you can just accept the fact that not everyone shares your opinions on everything and people don't always agree with you, and they don't have to. seriously, don't get hung up on the little things that don't matter. you just end up complicating things way more than you have to. that's the way i look at it anyway. then again i've been thinking about a lot of things lately i normally wouldn't think about... so maybe it's just me. who knows... |

One of my favorites. Charlie Kaufman ftw. By the time "Synecdoche, New York" comes out I think I'll have hyped it up to an unimaginary level. I'm total fan boy material when it comes to Charlie Kaufman. |

-GN
it's just my opinion, you can agree or disagree with it. but the whole point of what i said is that people do take things way too seriously, especially on here. and yea people can debate all they want... i have no problem with that. like i said people don't always agree or get along or whatever. it just seems stupid to me that people make such a big deal about things that don't matter. but like i said, that's just my opinion. |
