Corruption of religion I believe...in a nutshell

Riva 10-16-2004 11:11 PM

Yes, it is about how religion was a good ideal, but has been corrupted into something worse.

PeEpHoLe_10 10-17-2004 03:41 AM
Ha, I just heard the Rock In Rio version of Fear Of The Dark. Brlliant :)
Better than the real IMO.

PeEpHoLe_10 10-17-2004 03:45 AM

I bought the visions of the beast dvd the other day and me being a relativley new maiden fan it was a good range of songs, anlthough i did find that i didnt like the other (name?)singer and that most of the songs he sings on arent as good as bruce's time. does anyone else agree.
My fav songs on visons are probably hallowed be thy name, fear of the dark and 2 minutes to midnight. but just about all are great.

Riva 10-17-2004 03:53 AM

Yes, most everyone agrees that Blayze isn't as good as Bruce.

GurS 10-17-2004 06:17 AM

i listened to x factor for the first time two days ago

intial reaction...

how can this exist? i know some people actually say it's a decent album, but i disagree. it's got a very few worthwhile songs in it - judgement in heaven is initially my favourite, but sign of the cross is a HUGE dissappointment after hearing the RIR version, and the other song i had heard good things about - blood on the worlds hands - was a bit on the crap side to tell the truth.

however, i've only listend to this once through - on initial impressions, when i bought fear of the dark and powerslave at the same time, i thought the former was better than the latter. how very wrong i was - the 2nd time listening to those albums and my perspective changed completely. so we'll see how it goes with this 'un

cant we just stop comparing him to Bruce?! THEY DO NOT HAVE THE SAME STYLE OF SINGING!!!
Maiden have had 3 singers, wich non of them had the same style of singing..

and the X factor is an great album, it just need a little time to get into..

Too true Blaze and Paul were excellent vocalists too just different interpretations of Maiden
did anyone see maiden on the x-factor or VXI tours?
I'd be interested to know what stuff like Number of the beast and so on were like with Blaze singing...

Arucard 10-17-2004 12:31 PM

true but doesnt mean that brce isnt better. ie if you compare pavaroti to our average pop vocalest you ahve to say pavaroti can sing much much better even though he is a completely diferant stylel jsut because they are differant doesnt mean they cant be compared its the dfferance shich gives scope for compareson. ive heard very little from balze but imo he is the worst maiden vocalest i prefer paul to blaze but ive only herd the best of the beast fear of the dark by blaze

though... Blaze REALY suckes on songs that not was from his period in Maiden..they where just not meant for his kinda voice. exept for "afraid to shoot strangers" that one was pretty good. :thumb: i have never heard him on stuff from pauls period though...

I've got a bootleg DVD of Iron Maiden from what I think may've been virtual XI's tour but I'm not certain, Its from Argentina. Its so ****ty Blaze's voice can not stay in pitch for more than 3words.

Also Maiden's popularity dropped so much during the Blaze years and Nicko hated him, From what I've heard he used to stand up then point and laugh at Blaze during the Clansman at the intro at shows. I can not stand any of Iron Maidens greats whilst Blaze is singing them on that DVD I just can't watch it. They're in some small indoor arena which I'm sure only hosted afew hundred people.

Also I'm Thingy_guy just with a new acount if anybody remembers me...I doubt anyone will though

Jamie FT 10-17-2004 03:32 PM

After being a maiden fan for years and seen em live a while ago, I've just shocked myself by realise i have no 'proper studio album' apart from dance of death, basically I have quite a few best of's and rock in rio, and i need to get a studio album, which one should I get?

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 10-17-2004 03:55 PM

Powerslave-Number of the Beast-Somewhere In Time-Piece of Mind. One of those, I cant decide.

I never said that they were worse or better singers. I was just stating that Bruce melds together with the band much better than Blayze.
errrrh.. blaze didnt sing on fear of the dark... unless you mean live...
the version of fear of the dark is live on best of the beast.

GurS 10-17-2004 04:27 PM

isn't that the 93 version? I'm pretty **** sure it is

JACK! 10-17-2004 04:29 PM
Powerslave-Number of the Beast-Somewhere In Time-Piece of Mind. One of those, I cant decide.
Brave New World surley deserves a say in that. In my opinion it's some of their best material and saw the return of 2 members of the band.

Jamie FT 10-17-2004 08:45 PM
Powerslave-Number of the Beast-Somewhere In Time-Piece of Mind. One of those, I cant decide.
thanks, ill probably get powerslave because it has aces high on it - my favourite maiden song! :D

IMO it deosnt compare to powerslave piece of mind somewhee in time or number of the best.
still a great album though - YOUR TIME WILL COOOMMEEE!!!!

Riva 10-18-2004 02:30 AM

It's the best of their newer albums. I prefer it to Dance of Death.

icebase 10-18-2004 03:42 AM
It's the best of their newer albums. I prefer it to Dance of Death.
Wha DOD is like a reveloution for maiden man it's prob the best album of the last ten years for them.

Lord Abortion 10-18-2004 03:42 AM

both are brilliant albums
Dream of Mirrors vs. Paschendale? oooohhhhh....

eddies_ead 10-18-2004 04:05 AM

erm... tough choice... Paschendale only because it is amazin live!!!

Thunder Fingers 10-18-2004 04:12 AM

dream of mirrors are a little to easy, so paschendale goes past it there... awsome song!

Lord Abortion 10-18-2004 04:14 AM

I would go for the dream But Paschendale is brilliant too especially live

I prefer BNW because of the ghost of the navigator and the Wicker man
but if you replaced The fallen angel with Paschendale and the thin line... with DOD you could potentially have the best Maiden album ever

icebase 10-18-2004 04:45 AM

The best maiden album would be

1.Aces High
2.2 Minutes to midnight
3.Paschendale
4.The wickerman
5.Hallowed Be thy name
6.Dance Of Death
7.The Thin Line Between Love And Hate
8.Rainmaker
9.Fear Of The Dark (Live Rock In Rio)
10.Number Of The Beast
11.Run To The Hill's
12.The Trooper
13.New Frontier

Cant think of any more. What do all you guys think?

Jamie FT 10-18-2004 05:02 AM

good list, like a said on my last post here aces high is my fav too!

icebase 10-18-2004 05:11 AM
good list, like a said on my last post here aces high is my fav too!
Right you make one to. I just want to know other peoples opinions of what the best maiden songs are.

The Mercenary 10-18-2004 05:38 AM

i dont agree with that list, not for a greatest, no somewhere in time/seventh son/killers/iron maiden?!? and 4 tracks from DoD? not sure, but a good list anyway

but i guess til they invent CD's that can take over 80 minutes of music i couldnt decide on tracks for a maiden greatest album

icebase 10-18-2004 05:43 AM

you can but you would need some sort of portable dvd device. I use DVD's to store everything. Like windows xp or half of the stuff on my hard drive. Ha they are cool. Has anyone been to france. Im going on thursday. I HATE FRENCH PEOPLE HELP???? but its halloween so im going to have fun :smash:

GurS 10-18-2004 11:01 AM

best maiden album IMHO would be:

1. Moonchild (best opening for an album)
2. Killers (Live, Maiden England)
3. Total Eclipse
4. Paschendale
5. Running Free (Live At Donnington)
6. Still Life
7. Flight Of Icarus
8. Fear Of The Dark (Live Rock In Rio)
9. Number Of The Beast
10. The Wickerman
11. Montsegur
12. The Clansman (Live Rock In Rio)
13. Powerslave (Live After Death version)
14. Hallowed Be Thy Name
15. Out of the Silent Planet
16. Strange World
17. Iron Maiden (Live Rock In Rio)

How's THAT for an ideal compilation

ashman 10-18-2004 11:03 AM
both are brilliant albums
Dream of Mirrors vs. Paschendale? oooohhhhh....
Paschendale pwns Dream of Mirrors. IMHO I think Dream of Mirrors was one of the worst songs on that album. Dream of Mirrors and Paschendale are in two different leagues...

Gur, where's infinite dreams???

Glass Onion 10-18-2004 01:33 PM

Their is 1 big error on both of those lists...NO PHANTOM OF THE OPERA ON EITHER OF THEM!!! That song is Maiden at perfection I wish their where more songs which could be as fun to play on bass and guitar and still have a great feal that never dies.

YDload 10-18-2004 02:29 PM

Yeah, Phantom of the Opera is practically mandatory. And Hallowed Be Thy Name has to be the last song; why else would Maiden themselves keep it at the end when they added "Total Eclipse" to the NOTB remastered version?

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 10-18-2004 03:39 PM

My Top 15

1.Children of the ****ed
2.The Lonliness of the Long Distance Runner
3.Hallowed Be thy Name
4.Powerslave
5.Aces High
6.Dance of Death
7.Wasting Love
8.Infinite Dreams
9.Prowler
10.Murders In the Rue Morgue
11.Pachendale
12.Brave New World
13.Still Life
14.To Tame a Land
15.Caught Somewhere in Time

PoliticallyIncorrectMetalhead 10-18-2004 03:41 PM

Oh crap I forgot Childhoods End.
