Perhaps a bit, but different sound = bad recommendation.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:18 AM

Like I said, there aren't any bands with the same sound so it's better than no recommendation at all.

yontar 09-04-2008 11:18 AM
Nah I hear a lot of similarities, especially in the guitar work.
i do too, sikth is quite a bit more dissonant and less melodic than pth though. I like em both, but sikth better because i like both of sikth's albums and i really only like kezia, and a little bit of fortress.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:22 AM

I Am Abomination sound like them without the screaming.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:27 AM
I Am Abomination sound like them without the screaming.
I know, see:
There aren't too many bands that sound like PTH other than the ones coming out now totally ripping them off.
Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:27 AM

Yeah I thought that might be who you were talking about, ah well, I still like them.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:30 AM

I'm just listening to them now. They bite a lot of Protest stuff but they're much bigger wieners from what I can tell. Vocals suck so far.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:30 AM

It's quite good for a debut EP.

Tyler 09-04-2008 11:36 AM

They dont sound anything like PTH.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 11:42 AM

I thought the guitar leads were pretty PtHesque. Also the high pitched melodic vocals.

Collis 09-04-2008 12:18 PM

Bugger me the vocals in Sikth are a bit off. Suppose it is a case of trying to look past it.

Dimmu Burger 09-04-2008 12:24 PM

Yeah Sikth are pretty wierd, but good.

Pete 09-04-2008 12:26 PM

http://www.myspace.com/todayicaughttheplague also

willfellmarsy 09-04-2008 08:32 PM

^^verry verry nice though quite alike...i only listened to one track but i m gunnaget.../repd

Porklips 09-04-2008 10:02 PM

Sikth is kickass, both CDs are extremely awesome. Even those spoken tracks.

Tyler 09-08-2008 01:37 PM

Devin Townsend's remix of Sequoia Throne might just be the worst thing I've heard all year.

thedissentience 09-13-2008 10:48 AM
Devin Townsend's remix of Sequoia Throne might just be the worst thing I've heard all year.
QFT. That remix EP sucks ***. I bet it was more a record label decision.

Jev 09-13-2008 11:12 AM

I'm trying to learn Sequoia Throne. That tapping intro is a bitch.

EaterOfUterus 09-13-2008 11:21 AM

I almost had a chance to see PtH when they played with AtR in San Antonio. I bought my tickets and everything but did not have the money for the 6 hour drive.

Dimmu Burger 09-13-2008 11:41 AM

Shoulda rode your bike!

EaterOfUterus 09-13-2008 11:50 AM
Shoulda rode your bike!
I would have never made it. It's something like 300 miles or more.

2muchket! 09-14-2008 07:05 PM

A few sort months till I see PTH in Sheffield.

I cannot ****ing wait

Tyler 09-14-2008 07:13 PM

I might actually be going over to visit a buddy in England around the time they're there. That'd be a trip to run into those assholes on the other side of the planet, hah.

Dimmu Burger 09-14-2008 07:21 PM

I should be seeing them October 1st in Baltimore. I'm effin pumped, it'll be my first time.

Architects as well !

I cant wait to see them again

Dimmu Burger 09-14-2008 07:55 PM

Yeah hopefully I'll be seeing Architects too, but I'm also going to Opeth, so I dunno if i'll have the money.

2muchket! 09-14-2008 08:24 PM

Ahhh I forgot Architects and PTH aren't on the same tour in the states.

Jev 09-15-2008 02:52 PM

I didn't know they were coming to the UK!

2muchket! 09-15-2008 03:06 PM
I didn't know they were coming to the UK!
Yepp they're playing in London as well and they're touring alongside Parkway Drive, Unearth, Architects, Despised Icon and Whitechapel.

Can't wait.

Jev 09-15-2008 03:07 PM

Yeah I saw all that when I just looked up tickets and thought I'd rather not.

rewritingdreams 09-15-2008 03:54 PM

Protest the Hero is pretty good. When I saw them with Silverstein in February, I thought that they were just another metal band. But then I started to really listen to them. Not a big fan of them though.

Collis 09-16-2008 05:13 AM
A few sort months till I see PTH in Sheffield.

I'm going to that gig too afaik.

Although I've only heard PTH and Architects (Which I both love, ofc)

Jev 09-16-2008 05:18 AM

I don't want to stand through loads of bands I don't want to see just to watch PTH though :(

2muchket! 09-16-2008 05:19 AM

they're like 3rd on the bill

they're after Carnifex and Whitechapel

Jev 09-16-2008 05:19 AM

How long will they get to play?

Transient 09-16-2008 05:29 AM
I'm just listening to them now. They bite a lot of Protest stuff but they're much bigger wieners from what I can tell. Vocals suck so far.
Totally agree, the vocalist is such a fag.

And Cocaine, tell them to come to Australia please, tell them we ride kangaroos and drink nothing but Fosters if you have to.

2muchket! 09-16-2008 05:30 AM
How long will they get to play?
I'd say 30-40 minutes

Jev 09-16-2008 05:35 AM

Hmm might go then.

DBlitz 09-16-2008 06:38 AM
And Cocaine, tell them to come to Australia please, tell them we ride kangaroos and drink nothing but Fosters if you have to.
do what this man says

Dimmu Burger 09-16-2008 06:40 AM
Ahhh I forgot Architects and PTH aren't on the same tour in the states.
Yeah but I prefer it this way, cause its two really awesome shows instead of just one. Most of the bands on both tours are really good.

UNEARTH :PROTEST THE HERO : THE ACACIA STRAIN : GWEN STACY : WHITECHAPEL on one show

SUICIDE SILENCE : EMMURE : BENEATH THE MASSACRE : AFTER THE BURIAL : ARCHITECTS (UK) : AS THE KINGDOM FALLS on another.

It's funny that they posted it as Architects (UK).
