Yeah, it's getting out of hand with these rock shirts. Probably because they sell them at Hot Topic. This kid actually had the nerve to ask me if I could name 3 Jimi songs when I had my new Hendrix shirt on. So I said Red House, 51st Aniversary, and Highway Chile. I'm sure he's never heard of any of them. :D
Yeah
Dark Side of The Moon 1973 Tour shirts They're everywhere, and the kids probably don't even know who Pink Floyd is. It's pretty sad
/is wearing DSOTM shirt right now. |
^^^Yeah, all the classic rock poser fanboys at my school are all BOC, Zepp, Sabbath, etc. though one of them actually has a Let it Be shirt, I was so surprised.
I fell in love with a guy that had a Let It Be shirt Fer sure fer sure Bcf717- YOU HAVE A HOFNER!? :amaze: |
/is wearing DSOTM shirt right now.
God dam fan boy! Its ok I own one too, its not like its bad, its just what Pink Floyd fans relate the fan boy thing to. |

And it's not that black one with the wierd statue thing and the hammers. It just has "Pink Floyd The Wall" in the script on the cover of the album. I really like it. |

I've got a pretty sweet "The Wall" shirt. It's like kind of a collage of images from the movie, and it say pink floyd the wall like on the album on the front and back. I love it, probably my favourite along with my doors shirt of Morrisson passed out on the stage and some of the lyrics to When you're strange on the back.
I agree The Beatles are almost becoming Underated
It seems kids that happen to be classic rock fans would rather listen to Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath than John,Ringo,Paul, and George
Yeah. Sabbath and Zep were great, don't get me wrong, but The Beatles were just as good, if not better. It seems a lot of kids don't think the Beatles are "tough" or "heavy" enough for them. Bah, make them listen to the White Album, and then tell me they weren't heavy in a way. |
The beatles didn't have to be heavy, that's what's so unique about them. While other bands had to be heavier and more psycadelic to attract fans, the beatles could do whatever they wanted, and attract more fans.
|
Helter Skelter is a bit heavy, but the Beatles was about the music, that makes them the greatest band in history.
|
Helter Skelter is a good song
|
Helter Skelter is a good song
quite good, like most beatles songs. |
I jusr learned it on guitar awhile back ago, my buddies and i like to play 10 minute versions of it in my basement. muhahah.
|
Helter Skelter is a good song
Everything on the White Album is awesome. Except Wild Honey Pie and Revolution 9. Probably my favorite Beatles album though, with Helter Skelter, Back in the USSR, Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Sexy Sadie and the rest. Those are probably my favorites though. |

*My favorites, plus Happiness is a Warm Gun How can you say Revolution 9 isn't awsome? Granted, it's not a catchy tune, or a tune at all, but I still think the was it changes your perception is incredible. It's an audio trip I can see how you wouldn't like Wild Honey Pie, but the solo at the end is quite bitchin, IMO |

Switch the c and the p around and you've got the right word. |

It's not music, but I thought 9 minutes of just senseless talking was hilarious and brilliant. Now I think it's too long and skip over it sometimes. Wild Honey Pie is growing on me a little but just doesn't compare to the rest of the album. |
Ha, exactly, I always skip it over too, unless I am looking for it |
I'm still working my way through the White Album, really. Back In The U.S.S.R. is one of the best album openers ever. I can't stand Wild Honey Pie, though
|
I've overplayed Back In The USSR, so I usually skip it.

However, it is known that you can overplay Ob-La Di- Ob-La-Da

 NEVER! Desmond has a barrow in the marketplace... |
I never overplay Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da.
|
Perhaps if your little sister ran around the house singing it fo a few months
Although it was worse when she ran around singing "My Heart Will Go On" in 1998 or so |
I find a lot of those songs on that album I tend to get tired of/ over play. One that is always good, at least for me would be The Continuing Story of Bungalo Bill. I think the fact that the lyrics tell a story keeps me interested. Same with Happiness is a warm Gun. Strange, quirky lyrics; the song actually kind of scares me. I still listen to it late at night though.

I just added Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road to my small but steadily increasing collection. Both excellent cd's...Im really loving "Getting Better" of Sgt. Pepper...and Im starting to realized Paul is one of the best screamers ever.

Like on "Oh Darling"? Good vocals there. Those are the only two Beatles cds I own. But they're my two favorite, so it's ok. |
golden slumbers is a good example as well. good power.
|
I've got to get the white album, i've heard too many good things about it not to buy it now.

I thinks its probably their best. And to the poster a few posts up, Bungalow Bill is an awesome song, catchy as hell, can't help singing along. Can't get tired of it. |
Paul invented the heavy metal scream. Death and Black metal are just glorified cases of Macca faboyism.
So true  Oh! Darling has some of the best Paul screaming ever. |
golden slumbers is a good example as well. good power.
Golden Slumbers is a great song in that the say the lyrics are sung are so strong, powerful and emotional. It is a great extension of the piano and has to be one of my favourite Beatles tracks. |
Paul must of f*cked his vocals over royaly after singing "Oh Darling".
I realy like Dear Prudence and Looking Through a Glass Onion. every time i hear I am the Walrus i get amazed by the lyrics no song has out done that for me yet, though A day in the Life and Gimme some Truth have come close. |
I really like the lyrical aspect of Sgt. Peppers and the language used. The psychedelic, trippy feeling of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, the beautifully constructed music and lyrics to She's Leaving Home and the subject matter and the way it is expressed through language in A Day in the Life. Also Across The Universe off Let It Be is one of my favourite Beatles tracks lyrically speaking.
|
The thing about Oh Darling! is that paul sung it only once a day, and if he screwed it up (in the recording studio) - he'd try again the next day. he wanted that raw sound.
He'd practise it in the bath! |
That explains the excellent vocals and smooth dynamics. It really adds something extra to the track, with less intense and worked vocals a lot of the Beatles music in particular their later material wouldn't satisfy emotionally but his voice gives songs such as Oh Darling! a great edge.

Someone mentioned the 'bigger than Jesus' controversy. During an interview, Lennon was talking about how mind boggling the Beatles success was. How the fans hung on every word they said, every action they did. The copying of the clothes they wore and how the fashion would change every time they changed their socks. The gist of Lennon's quote was that in 'eyes' of these type of fans, they were bigger than Jesus. It was cynical Lennon humor lamenting that in these modern times, kids were looking up to them more than Jesus.
The press took the quote out of context centering solely on the 'we're bigger than Jesus', and and not printing the whole discussion. If the whole story had been reported properly, it may have clearer that Lennon still couldn't believe the fanaticism the band commanded and that fanaticism was beginning to boarder on being obscene. I read the whole interview years ago and my conclusion was that Lennon, in his own tongue-in-cheek way, was telling certain over the top fans that perhaps they should get a life. This sort of thing still goes on today. How many times have you guys read in a newspaper or saw a tv report where somebody important got fired or triggered a protest because they used the wrong word or phrase during a speech. Most times the phrase just came out wrong, and you know they really didn't mean exactly that, but people can be so touchy and unforgiving..... |
the beatles rule
|
Yeah, I always thought that whole thing was very stupid. I see it as more of a way for people who hated the Bealtes because of their political stance to attack them about somthing.
