Pink Floyd couldve exsisted without Roger, but he was a strong part of the band. Id preferably have him, but either way, their still the best.

Hey distant, did you write that Division Bell review on Sputnik? |
Yea you know I guess arguments about the individual members of the band are pointless because they were all brillient in their own way. Sorry Gilmour for taking part in that pointless argument.

i think i did with my last username. is something wrong with it? its been a long time since ive listened to that album...and now since i know more about floyd, i could redo it more accurate, but i forgot my last usernames password... |

Ill do that now, unless i do need my previous password. I put it up when before sputnik, so its a little outdated.
Rep + for you |
You know what I found out today? Did you know Wish You Were Here got horrible reviews because they said they used too mucy synth? I think thats what made the album.
|
Sputnik must be acting up again. I remembered my password for the mighty zep, but when it redirects me, it ask me to log in again. Does the same for this username.
Probably should report it, but i got alot of feedback on that review. After reading it again, i think it sucks |

u must be talking about rolling stones reviews. They had one on animals i saw too...terrible reviews. They said how floyd used to look to space as their solution to problems, and here they talk about drowning and similar stuff. I ****ing hate rolling stones |

nah, still cant get it. Itll be fixed soon though im sure does posting on sputnik add to your postcount here? Id find it odd if it did, but i was wondering If i have off tomorrow, ill probably do another review, still dont know what yet, but another good album like Quadrophenia that i wouldnt believe has never been done before..... |
Well, Rolling Stone magazine also said that Hendrix was a cheap, flashy guitarist widing on the psychedelic wave. Gave him absolutely awful reviews. And now they're saying he's the best guitarist ever. So, don't bother paying attention to RS.

I ****ing hate rolling stones
Oh it was just on a site my friend was showing me I didn't know that was Rolling Stone......though I should have guessed. You know ever since I became a member here my hate for Rollling Stone has grown so much. |

They also panned the blues Zeppelin did on LZ I and II, then panned Zep III and said they should go back to blues. |

They just go with whatever is popular, they are the worst influence on people who listen to music of all time, and probally the cause for all those crappy mainstream bands. |
Die Rolling Stone!
Die Rolling Stone!
 you can say that again. |
If you want to get passed blocked sites, go to https://proxify.net and enter whatever site you want to go to through that. It works for my school.
Hey, thanks for that, Imma try it tomorrow. But our school probably blocked it already...haha. Anyways, the librarian monitors the computers throughout the school, so if I'm using that, that may not be too good. Well, thanks. |
Posting on sptunik doesn't add to your postcount here, no. And on the topic of Pink Floyd's early reviews, it's really weird how badly WYWH and Animals were recieved as far as I'm concerned. They seem to have been universally seen as a bit disappointing, even though now a lot of people, and especially Floyd fans, see them as the band's best work. The Wall got a rather mixed reception as well. What can we learn from this? Just ignore anything and everything The Rolling Stone says.
For the longest time Animals was my favorite cd. Now my favorite is divided into Meddle for its instrumentals, The Wall for lyrics, and Saucerful of Secrets for overall greatness. |
Ignore Rolling Stone and Kerrang! I reckon.
|
Rolling Stone does reviews for a little thing called, hmm what was it... money. They can't review, they can't make lists, and they have no idea what they are talking about. Because of Pop culture, they have somehow become the most popular music magazine, but don't listen to them.
The reviews by your fellow MXers are way better. Check out Sputnik. I've done a few reviews, including A Saucerful of Secrets and Zep IV. |
Pink Floyd are my favorite band.
|
Alright, thank you for adding to the discussion...
I wonder if we could do all the PF albums on Sputnik? |
Pink Floyd are my favorite band.
So is just about all of ours. |
Alright, thank you for adding to the discussion...
I wonder if we could do all the PF albums on Sputnik?
I havent checked, but id think just about all of em wouldve been reviewed by now, except maybe some greatest hits. And im gonna try to update my Division Bell review, Gilmour. Hopefully the site isnt still acting up |
DSOTM could use a re-reviewing. Last time i read it, it was terrible, and didnt include enough facts for such an revolutionary album.
I would get dibs on Obscurred by clouds, but im still yet to own the CD. Its my next buy though. Hell, maybe ill get it with my next internet order. |
Just bought Animals today and listened the entire album. Favourite treack: Dogs. But I still find WYWH more pleasing, and is still my favourite PF album.
Next buy: I'm thinking 'The Wall,' either the movie or the CD. |
The Wall got a rather mixed reception as well. What can we learn from this? Just ignore anything and everything The Rolling Stone says.
Actually, Rolling Stone said that The Wall was the best album of the 1980s. Even though it was released in '79. |
Pink Floyd albums not done on Sputnik:
More:The Soundtrack To The Motion Picture Ummagumma Obscured By Clouds A Momentary Lapse Of Reason Compilations not included. I'm considering re-reviewing DSOTM and Animals.
I did a review of Animals on a separate site. I haven't checked the one on Sputnik, but I doubt mine is any better. I just liked it enough to review it myself. |
 That's brilliant. But Rolling Stone aside, I'm sure it wasn't recieved universally well. I just found a quote from a music magazine called Sounds, which said at the time of The Wall's release, "From no little Floydian experience, I can assure you with confidence that this is the worst Pink Floyd album ever." Sometimes you've just got to wonder how people become music critics...
Because they are critics. For some reason magazines want people that will pan everything. It actually sells. |
I have DSOTM as my desktop background now. :)
|
Critics are legless men that teach how to run.
|

Die Rolling Stone!
you can say that again.
Said. |
I almost got Saucerful of Secrets today, but then I didn't.
|
I almost got Saucerful of Secrets today, but then I didn't.
I've been doing that for a few weeks. I always pick it out at the store, then I end up not getting it. I will though, because I love that cd and Richard Wright rules on it. |

Turns out me and my bro are going to a CD store tomorrow, so I'm promising myself that I'll get it. |
Pink Floyd albums not done on Sputnik:

Critics are just bitter musicians who couldn't make it themselves, so they take out their frustration by bashing other musicians. My uncle is like that, he talks trash about SRV all the time, and says that any average blues guitarist could do what SRV could, but he's just very jealous that he didn't get big.

I still need to buy PATGOD, but no one has it.
|
Best Buy has PATGOD.
I miss the feeling I got when I first heard those notes ring out on SOYCD pt. 2. It was so amazing hearing it for the first time. |
