Kewl. Are you ready to upload? I don't need it to play with, but it would be nice.
I can record it later tonight. And my classical guitar is broken. :-/ So the nylon-string parts in the intro will have to be done on steel.

stevieB 06-09-2005 11:51 AM

I say we just let it go, we don't wanna end up in useless opinionated arguments here.
The only album I care for is Deliverance. I'm not much of the fan for these guys, I prefer better music
Like Overkill?

moop 06-09-2005 09:06 PM

Oh my god.. I was on my way to a high school graduation-party and I bumped in to Martin Lopez & Martin Mendez (drummer and bassplayer) in Sthlm City, and I got a picture with them. Maybe i'll put it out here later.

All I can say is wow, that was the perfect way to start my graduation-party.

Deth 06-10-2005 11:23 AM

Wow. That is really awesome. I wish I lived in Stockholm.

Silent Death 06-10-2005 02:18 PM

So how's the compitition going? I haven't been on here in a while so do you guys have any recordings yet?

Deth 06-10-2005 06:13 PM

No recordings yet, but my bass tracks should be up for Monday or Tuesday.

I just hope I don't screw up The Moor, it's harder than it sounds.

Nice!

I wonder how often they get people to ask for pictures/autographs

azbassman 06-11-2005 12:30 AM

Do we have anyone doing clean vocals yet?

Lateralias 06-11-2005 12:47 AM

Hey guys, big fan of Opeth here and I'm just curious as to what cover songs you guys are doing... so which ones are they?

Good luck to you guys! Opeth is tough to cover.

azbassman 06-11-2005 01:15 AM

^^ I think were doing
The Moor
To bid you farewell
Drapery Falls...
im not sure though some one verify plz

MadSeasonAbove 06-11-2005 01:21 AM

Speaking of Opeth covers, I DL'd 'Deliverance' by a band called Taylor(atleast thats what it says) from Limewire. No vocals, but an excellent cover none-the-less. Anyone heard this before? I could post a link for DL if anyone wants to hear it.

The Moor? Nice... The acoustic part must be pretty tough to do.. Mikael is pretty talented with his acoustic passages.. looking forward to hearing you guys when you're finished.. good luck ;)

I'd like to hear it. They must be good if they can pull off Deliverance without vocals.

here it is. But keep in mind that this isnt Opeth, and the sound quality isnt that great. The guitar solo seems on point.

''Ghost Reveries'' for the win :thumb:

The New Opeth Album Title:

Det_Nosnip 06-11-2005 12:52 PM

I still think that that is a dumb *** album title. I love Opeth, and I'm sure the new album will rock, but "Ghost Reveries"?! Come on!

denboy 06-11-2005 12:56 PM

What does reveries mean? /me is too lazy to use dictionary.com

Kaiwaz 06-11-2005 12:57 PM

I like it. I think it's unique.

"Ghost Of Perdition"
"The Baying Of The Hounds"
"Isolation Years"
"Harlequin Forest" are some track titles from ''Ghost Reveries''

I can't wait !!!!!

Kaiwaz 06-11-2005 12:59 PM

Reveries - A state of abstracted musing; daydreaming.

denboy 06-11-2005 12:59 PM

Harlequin Forest, kind of reminds me of the name Blackwater Park

Kaiwaz 06-11-2005 01:03 PM

The album is expected to be released late summer of this year.

Mikael states:

“The combination of a strong label and our best album so far is quite lethal!”

“As I'm writing this I am in the studio and we're recording the new album, I know that this album is going to really KILL! It's sounding incredible already, and we're nowhere near finished.”

Kage 06-11-2005 02:16 PM

Late summer? That's only a few months.

Kaiwaz 06-11-2005 10:20 PM
Late summer? That's only a few months.
Yep...I can't wait! Can you? :D :D :D :D :D

moop 06-11-2005 10:33 PM

When i met Martin Lopez & Mendez the other day, Lopez said to me personally that the album would be released in 6 months. I hope not. :(

Grey Incision 06-11-2005 10:57 PM

the only thing i dislike about this whole cd is the trackname "isolation years" that sounds dodge, but it's been made up in double by the trackname "baying of the hounds" man that sounds so good.

add me to the list of people who can't wait lads :thumb:

azbassman 06-12-2005 02:22 AM

I don't dislike it, cause I haven't Heard the song yet. I don't blind myself like that. I don't care what the songs are called...as long as they Sound Good.

Take the song ''requiem'' for example...I can't count how many bands that have recorded a song entitled ''requiem''
Opeth's song ''requiem'' is 1:11 and is by far my favorite instrumental song they've recorded.

Isolation Years might mean something you are unaware of...
It may also be an intrumental...
who knows...I like the name and can't wait to hear it :)

Deth 06-12-2005 07:19 PM

Cover due date is moved to August 1st. We should add another song.

I should have my bass tracks for Drapery and The Moor up this week though.

TojesDolan 06-12-2005 07:38 PM

How about blackwater park? It's an amazing song.

Plus, It will give thew whole thing...uh...variety.

Deth 06-12-2005 07:42 PM

If we have a growler good enough, why not? But, I don't think we do.

It would be cool to do a track from Morningrise.

First post in the "official opeth thread".

PIGS(1 different one) 06-12-2005 08:22 PM

Do you guys have a song ready right now?

Where is it?

cryforhelp 06-12-2005 08:25 PM

I got Orchid a couple months ago and it was just brilliant, they are one of the greatest bands I've ever heard.

relliK 06-12-2005 10:26 PM

Well, Blackwater Park is a German band from the 70's, and Still Life is a Iron Maiden song. Its not like Mikael was original when choosing those titles.I like Ghost Reveries.Good title.
