i just got meshuggah - cath 33, and its ****ing awesome, really different but ****ing awesome, can anyone recommend me any other their other albums or bands similiar to meshuggah? (although that may be hard)
I've only really heard 'Chaosphere', and like it. For similar bands, Frederik Thorendal's Special Defects is great, and has the guys from Meshuggah. A Life Once Lost is also like meshuggah, but not as good in my opinion.

Check out a band called Scarve (and their album Irradiate). I don't like them much, but they remind me a bit of Meshuggah.
Hey guys i'm looking for some quality songs by the following bands:

Dio
Dream Evil
Sabaton
Rob Zombie
I can help you out with Dio at least.

"Holy Diver"
"Rainbow in the Dark"
"We Rock"
"Last in Line"
"Master of the Moon"

These are some good ones. Their greatest hits cd in my opinion was pretty good, and if I remeber correctly its not too expensive.
Sabaton
Thank you for mentioning them man, I was about to buy their latest album and forgot.

I can suggest songs off First for Fight which is in fact a compilation of their demos and not and actual full length:

(the whole CD rules actually)

Metalizer (cheesy lyrics, I know)
The Hammer has Fallen
Shadows
Thunderstorm

Amazing band :thumb:

Mister_Che 07-01-2005 12:21 PM

Any recommendations for these bands would be great:

Ill Nino
In Flames
Racer X
Nile

Stoic 07-01-2005 12:34 PM
Nile
You cant really go wrong with any Nile but their two latest albums are highly recommended.

In their Darkened Shrines
-Execration Text
-Unas Slayer of the Gods

Annihilation of the Wicked
-User-Maat-Re
-The Burning Pits of the Duat

There was a Nile thread a few days ago with uploads, maybe you'll find it if you go a few pages back

hallowed_ironmaiden 07-01-2005 12:35 PM

For In Flames, I have an album called "Colony." It's pretty good, but "THe Jester RAce" is supposed to be their best. For Ill Nino, their latest album "confession" sounds pretty good.

Mister_Che 07-01-2005 01:17 PM

Thanks guys.

Can someone recommend me some good prog songs with nice basslines....

PS:I don't want dream theater.

Stoic 07-01-2005 02:51 PM

do you care about the technical side of prog (eg Watchtower), cause if you do I could suggest you some songs.

I downloaded some of the songs of their new album and it blew me away. Its amazing. If this band don't become huge it will be a crime against music.

The whole album is about WWII. the song 'Prima Victoria' is a savage track.

Yes i do. :thumb:

Stoic 07-01-2005 04:37 PM

Well anything by these bands would work

Watchtower - The Eldritch
Spastic Ink - Aquanet
Spiral Architect - Insect
Dysrhythmia - Four, Five, Six Minutes Late
Behind the Arctopus - Alcoholocaust
Cause for Effect - pretty cool jazzy grind with bass, drums and vocals. Their songs are very small, I'm not sure which one to mention

EDIT

In case you care about tabs I think there are some for the first 3 ones on powertabs.net

EDIT2

There was a jazz metal thread last weekend with uploads by some of the bands I mentioned here, see if you can find it.

hallowed_ironmaiden 07-01-2005 09:44 PM

I am looking for a slayer cd, and I already have "Reign in Blood." I was thinking about "Seasons in the Abyss." Is this a good album?

Sleeper 07-01-2005 09:54 PM

Hey guys, looking for some more melodic death metal. Below are some of the bands I've heard and liked:

Arch Enemy
At the Gates
Dark Tranquillity
In Flames
Insomnium
early Soilwork

And also, I know that Children of Bodom are power metal with harsh vocals, are there any more bands similar to that. Just wondering and thanks for any help with some recommendations.
