BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-04-2006 12:30 AM

I can't wait to hear the new Nas. :D

I hope this new Ghostface is as good as everyone claims it to be. Rep + for the person who uploaded that.

ATM 12-04-2006 01:09 AM

Do you guys like High and Mighty?

sgrevs 12-04-2006 05:03 AM

Raus, what's your favourite release of this year? Hip-hop release of course. Seeing as you disagreed with my statement that More Fish might be my favourite, I was just interested to know what yours might be.
That sounds kinda hostile but its not meant to. I'm just interested.

Actually, what's everyones favourite release of the year? And has new Nas actually leaked? If so, upload.

raus 12-04-2006 05:38 AM

Hell Hath No Fury, by leaps and bounds.

There have been some solid releases this year, especially this last quarter, but Hell Hath No Fury slays them all.

Eliminator 12-04-2006 06:28 AM

more fish

raus 12-04-2006 07:34 AM

More Fish isn't even the best Ghostface album of the year.

LF96 12-04-2006 12:42 PM

Here's another track from Nas' album, it's pretty good, though it doesn't really get me pumped up for the album:

i like it more than fishscale

but i haven't listened to that one as much

Check slsk.

I like Fishscale and the internet invasion more than More Fish. Not digging the Ne-Yo tracks.

Picked up INI's album and the CunninLynguists' collection. INI is breath taking, Pete Rock's beats are so solid. It's up there with the other classics of '95 (Liquid Swords, Only Built 4 A Cuban Linx, etc.).
The CunninLynguists' collection kind of bums me out because it seems appearant they are getting closer to the generic southern hip-hop of today. Will Rap For Food is so unique in it's approach and then A Piece Of Strange is only a couple steps ahead of generic southern rap.

Seriously, I've listened to it once and had no desire to listen to it again.

If you ask me, A Piece Of Strange is a lot better than anything that came from the south this year. It's actually one of my favourite albums of this year, especially because of the production, which is awesome imo.

Has anyone heard Mos Def's new album Tru3 Magic? I've been hearing it's pretty boring, even when compared to The New Danger, which already was rather uneven.

Eliminator 12-05-2006 04:06 PM

fishscale is just way too long

I agree it's a lot better, but you can tell they are pushing towards the generic brand of southern hip-hop with songs like "Nothing To Give", "Caved In", and "Beautiful Girl". I like all the songs on the album except the one with Cee-Lo, he needs to quit.

I downloaded it but haven't listened to it yet.

I'm listening to Hell Hath No Fury another time in the hope that it will jump out at me as something incredible. But i doubt it.

Also, Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version may be one of my favorite hip hop albums ever. ODB was so fuckin ramshackle. I love him.

R.A. The Rugged Man's verse on "Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story" is ridiculous. I don't think he breathes once.

Well these all sound pretty damn amazing already. When are they due, anyone?

raus 12-07-2006 08:00 AM

I really hate to say it, but Cuban Linx 2 is going to be terrible.

Juelz and Wayne album is gonna be hooooooot.

Rams 12-07-2006 09:35 AM

Dre's new album, Detox, of course. After that, Ase Rock's new album will probably be good. Dangerdoom 2 should atleast have some good beats (Mouse really needs to find a real MC for one of these projects). Rakim's new release may be interesting, but not that excited it'll be good.

LF96 12-07-2006 01:22 PM

Downloaded a leak for Hiphop Is Dead. Listening right now, first song was good, second song is decent, third song is pretty good as well. This might just be better than Street's Disciple, at least I hope so.

I listened to the first four songs and was like ehhhhhhh..... then i switched back to Clipse.

Mos Def's solo records were never very good. Though he did some great stuff with Talib Kweli of course.

Anyone dig Ready to Die (Notorious BIG)? I bought it yesterday and I have to say, I'm very impressed.

antiant 12-07-2006 08:33 PM
