Prince Charming 07-24-2006 01:47 PM
It would be worse if I denyed it. Fact is, they can play rhythm well, whether Trivium haters like it or not.

You should remeber this, we all know you dislike them alot.
Alright.

Just because I don't like them, doesn't mean I'm not allowed to engage in constructive posting here.

MRDuCran 07-24-2006 05:09 PM

Yeah I know but all you ever do is bitch about how sloppy they are and how much better other bands are lol.

Not really.

MRDuCran 07-24-2006 06:05 PM

Yer. You said I haven't, when I fact I beat that, I have...twice!! omgz.

There's a video thing on youtube where Corey does this downpicking thing that's pretty fast, then he stops and does a gallop and gets pretty quick with that too. Fast than what I can do, that's for sure.

adamstartin 07-31-2006 12:23 PM

Anyone heard the new preview song from the crusade? Its very untriviumish, not my cup of tea really http://www.roadrunnerrecords.co.uk/shared/downloads/trivium/detonation037464522.mp3

Forlorn Hope 07-31-2006 12:32 PM

I like it alright. It's nice to hear the album version :) Much much better than the live one. You can actually hear all the harmonies and everything. The song gets best towards the end I think.

Shattered_Future 07-31-2006 12:57 PM

Dude, that sounds like a horrible Metallica cover. It's simplistic, boring, and Heafy's voice is as bad as ever.

Yet somehow, it's still quite a bit better than the other stuff they've released.

MRDuCran 07-31-2006 01:20 PM

I think most of it is pretty boring except for the section starting at 2:27, I really like that bit.

VomitStainedCretin 07-31-2006 07:09 PM

I think the intro is kinda bad, but the solo and what follows is good. I like how the song structure isnt the same as that on Ascendency. The lyrics are fairly cheesy though. Overall, if this is a reflection of the whole album, it wont surpass Ascendancy or Ember To Inferno, but it will be reasonably good.

Nepenthe 07-31-2006 07:30 PM

I don't think it's half bad.

AA-12 07-31-2006 07:39 PM

Listening now...

EDIT: This is pretty good. Way better than the old utter crap they put out.

Mikesn 07-31-2006 07:46 PM

I like it. I prefer the first half of the song, but it's still pretty good.

Po0sH 07-31-2006 07:50 PM

This is good, way better than their old stuff. I especially like how they don't follow that Verse/chorus/verse/chorus etc structure that they did for pretty much a lot of their songs like they used to. The variety in this song is good. If the rest of the album is like this song, then damn, they are gonna explode.

EDIT: One thing that bugs me is Matt's solo, the last one. That is the most boring solo ever. A run, sweeping, same run except like 1 note diff, then same sweep. Wow, that sucks. Corey's solo was way better.

VomitStainedCretin 07-31-2006 08:05 PM

Yeah, the predictable structure on Ascendancy annoyed me too.

Huber 07-31-2006 08:15 PM

Wow, the studio version of this is 10 times better.

My buddies wont shut up about Matt and auto-tuning, do you guys think he auto tunes a lot?

Britton 07-31-2006 08:42 PM

I'm loving that new song!

it's awesome metal

What's autotuning?

Huber 07-31-2006 08:50 PM
What's autotuning?
It's like programming a voice. Take Paris Hilton for example. I garuantee you all she did was talk into a microphone and with some autotuning made it into singing. It's obvious on the Like Light To Flies video. The clean singing sounds really computer generated.

I don't think he does post-demo though.

It's where Pro tools fixes your mistakes...

for instance

if you sing and your voice is slightly flat then it can raise the pitch and correct your mistake.

at least that's how it was explained to me. Correct me if I'm wrong because I'm not entirely sure about this

lamb_of_goddrummer 07-31-2006 09:30 PM

They ripped off Metallica way too hardcore for my liking on this song.

guitarist.kid 07-31-2006 09:36 PM

I like this song but I'm missing Matt's voice on Ascendency. But the song is good but I hope there are better songs on the album.

Eh, this sounds nothing at all like Metallica man. :-\

Huber 07-31-2006 10:22 PM

I think the beginning sounds a bit like Slayer, and the latter half sounds...well like Trivium.

I think he does. From what I've heard, his singing voice live is REALLY poor...

I think it sounds a little bit like Metallica in the intro, just dumbed down horribly.

MRDuCran 07-31-2006 10:56 PM

It really does sound like a huge Metallica rip off. That first first and the way he sings it sounds like something off of Master of Puppets.

Deadsy 07-31-2006 11:49 PM

I really like the music, and liked the band overall just the way they were. I didn't dislike anything about them or any song they wrote. Now all the sudden they start wearing tight leather pants and cut off sleeves and Heafy grew his hair out which looks pretty ridiculous. I could deal with that but then they took it further and signed a deal with Dean Guitars... I ****ing hate Deans and everything about them. They look so retarded and turned Trivium's appearance to ****. I liked them when they wore T-shirts and khaki shorts and played Gibson/Jackson guitars. Now they change their vocals to sound like Hetfield which is definitely not what you want to be singing like. Trivium is heading in a terrible direction and I hope they cut the **** soon and stop acting like a 80's band.

Drunken Vikings 07-31-2006 11:51 PM

I just saw these guys on SOTU, they were pretty bad. The vocals didn't match up well with the new songs, they did a MoP cover, but I don't like Metallica so I'm kinda biased against it. They were really not on, the harmonized solo for A Gunshot To The Head of Trepidation was really off, they were both out of time or sync if you will with each other. And Paolo sounded horrible on PHOTSOYM for the chorus. :( I was kinda looking forward to them to, I liked a few songs from Ascendancy but they really butchered em live.

I've seen them three times, and the second time was around January '06 on the In Flames tour (which suspiciously is the tour no one ever uses as an example for there live show) and he sounded spot on. The whole band did.

I saw them again last Friday and they sound very tight still, but of course Matt can't scream anymore. However, there really using a good vocal harmonising thing with Corey and Matt more often. Paulo also handles a lot o singing hamonised with Matt also. It actually sounds really good. This style worked especially well for the song Ember to Inferno I thought.

The first time I saw them was Ozzfest 05, and they sounded meh...they werent bad or anything but they just weren't near as tight as they are now.

I don't think he autotunes anymore. But jeeze, the demo version of Like Light To Flies sounds so autotuned on the clean parts it's sickening.
