Well, seeing as this is DIY, I say you make them yourself. Honestly, Plaid material can't be all that hard to find. Learn to sew, it's a very helpful thing to know.

That stuff will screw up your scalp and give you flakes. Use styling glue if you want to use glue. It lasts for a few days and washes away with water.

Ok, well just go find some red plaid pants and get some zippers and stuff and sew it all on, don't try to make them yourself unless you're used to sewing or it will be a big waste of time.

Plus, the reason Tiger of London is so expensive has to do with:
1. they're shipped in from england
2. handmade (this is the main reason)
3. and they have a lot of zippers, which aren't incredibly expensive but probably adds a bit to the price

Ehh, making a pair from the bare materials is a lot harder than it sounds. Especially if you want them to be tight, and not completely fall apart.

But, If you wanna alter a pair that's already been made:
Try and find some old person golf-type pants at a thrift store, I know a few people who've actually found some cool looking plaid pants this way. Some hot topic stores also sell plaid pants, they're just kind of baggy. The solution here is to put them on inside out, pin down a seam going up the sides (make sure can still bend your legs and squat and stuff, so you don't look like a douche later), then sew up the seams from the outside.

yea tigers of london are about 40 - 50 quid , unless you haggle with the turkish pikies in camden

Brothel_Creeper 04-21-2005 11:18 AM

you know it you tart, just say 'ooo, i dont know if i can afford that' and the price halves.

Platinum_twf 04-21-2005 01:09 PM

oh, I just realized I put this in DIY, I had a few windows up, I'll put it in The Community Thread....but any way,
@ chairman_of_the_board, thanks I never thought about ebay, but what do you mean "like I said"?

@asdf23, I probably wont try to make pants from just the sheets of material, and actually I did have a hard time finding plaid, when I was looking for it for my coat, no one had it, I don't know why...ragshop and Michaels didn't even have it...

@ratsinthecity403, I could do that...were would you get plain plaid pants, though?

Anyone ever seen where one arm of a leather is plaid? I've been trying this for awhile with no results, any advice?

I think Matt's jacket is like that.

Brain Toad 04-21-2005 05:11 PM

I never understood the random plaid on jackets. But it looks cool on some, and I want to do it too mine. But I don't want to go regular plaid, I want to try to get my scottish clan's tartan, but the fabric is really expensive.

Rise Me Up 04-21-2005 05:12 PM

i used plaid pajama bottoms for a patch and it was pretty cool

Sebek 04-21-2005 05:17 PM

Actually when I think about it, I probably just didn't take enough time to alter it;

I cut the leg off of grey plaid pajama pants, but forgot that it would have to be cut more to the proportions of the tight sleeve rather than the loose leg.

TheNowhereman42 04-21-2005 07:53 PM

you can get a cheap brand at walmart for like 4 to 5 bucks, its citrus sented. I used to use it when i had my hair spiked, but then i got lazy and just grew it out.

cheeser_1 04-22-2005 12:43 PM
you can get a cheap brand at walmart
or you could have some common sense and not shop at that fascist hell-hole.

asdf 04-23-2005 11:26 AM
im guessing you can find instructions online on how to sow pants?
Well, I allready know how to sew. Hand sew and machine sew. I've known since I was 5. But I bet it's possible to get instructions online. I also know that they sell cut-out paper templates at fabric stores that my mom has used to make me some pants.

And I guess it might be hard to find plaid material, which is odd. Check goodwill like someone else said if you want plaid pants or just any plaid material. I used plaid from an old pair of wrecked shoes to patch my jacket. Just be creative about it.

Jessizzle 04-23-2005 11:27 AM

Hm Lots of Plaid at Fabric land. And they do sell templates for pants there also..
Man i love Fabric Land.
