Not really, repcak is a cool guy and I've never gotten any bad vibes from him. The only time he seems down is if he's stressed about guitar playing.

Adam, that recording was pretty cool. I respect the fact you actually play the verse how it's supposed to be played as opposed to just strumming chords. I remember learning that part a few years back and it's much more fun to play that way.

I don't think that Metal Injection video was recent, I think it was from around 2003, but I'm not positive.
I don't think I played the verse 100% right, but pretty close. I played the same measure (or is it two?) over again till the last one which is different. In the actual one, I think it changes a little each measure. Either way its better than strumming chords. I'd like to get better at fingerpicking so I can incorporate it into my own songs.

MRDuCran 07-01-2006 11:35 PM

Yeah it does change everytime and there's 3 different ones but at least you learnt one of them, and you got the notes out which is good.

Why did you edit it out. :p We all agreed.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-01-2006 11:45 PM

It's not worth the effort.

I'm Charming 07-01-2006 11:48 PM

yeah sure.

Well they still had Alexander playing guitar, so it can't really be that recent.

If I'm wrong I'm going to feel stupid lol

MRDuCran 07-02-2006 01:16 AM

Yeah exactly. But I've seen it on some Bodom video server a few months ago so it can't be after then.

I'm listening to Thine Eyes Bleed, they kinda remind me of Arsis.
 Well, yes my arguement does suck. I wasn't going for a serious point, and I don't pay attention to most politics. I was just saying that from my point of view (with very little knowledge) Europe > US. Nothing was meant to be serious. I'm not going to move out of the country as soon as I can or anything. I don't hate my country, I was just saying that Europe seems "cooler" for no real reason.

edit - I don't know how old this post is. I don't really care either.

A tad. Except Arsis is WAYYYYYYY more talented and interesting.

blue3 07-02-2006 01:26 AM

I've heard a few songs by Thine Eyes Bleed. Not Arsis though.

James Malone > Alexi

Apocalyptic Raids 07-02-2006 01:30 AM

Arsis are ok.

Overrated around these parts, I think.
why
blue3 07-02-2006 01:40 AM
why
They aren't bad or anything, I just think there are better bands who play Melodic Death.

and I get sick of "omg arsis are so awesome they are the best melodic death omg"

That intro = instant eargasm. I've yet to find a decent tab of it. There's a metaltab that's mostly right. EXCEPT THAT FUKKIN intro.

repcak 07-02-2006 06:20 AM

i would like to know how the intro of kalmah - the blind leader is played... it sooo f*cking great!!

MRDuCran 07-02-2006 07:45 AM

I just recorded Lashed to the Slave Stick:

http://media.putfile.com/Lashed

This is one of those times when I wished I had a POD.

Also did the Hate Me melody:

http://media.putfile.com/Mitch---Hate-Me

And the Glass Prison by Dream Theater:

http://media.putfile.com/TGP

There's a "riff game" in the guitar forum so I've been participating in that. It's been fun so far.

repcak 07-02-2006 08:10 AM

Lashed to the Slave Stick - 9/10 (the pitch harmonics (?) weren't perfect)

Hate Me - 8/10 (i know you can do it better, Mitch ... i don't know whats wrong: the tone? more practise? sloppy?)

Glass Prison - 10/10 (its like on the record, perfect!! :thumb: )

you're getting better each month on guitar... your playing is fantastic, respect!

Apocalyptic Raids 07-02-2006 08:15 AM

That Lashed... recording was pretty good.

Yeah the pinchs weren't, .09 gauge strings in drop A = floppy floppy floppy :p

I never practise that lead riff, I learnt it like a year ago and everytime I play it I just play it, so that explains that.

The glass prison, well that's easy.
That Lashed... recording was pretty good.
Ta.

I'm not satisfied with the tone on any of them tbh. I either go line out through my KORG PX4 which is impossible to get a decent rhythm tone from that way. Or I go line out from that Line 6 thing or mic it up and the overall tones on those things are ghey.

Hey repcak, any idea what tuning that Kalmah song is in, if so, I'll transcribe it for ya.

repcak 07-02-2006 09:06 AM

do you really think you can transcribe it? if you will do it, you're me new guitar hero :p

i don't know in what tuning the song is, but most kalmah songs are in D#

MRDuCran 07-02-2006 09:12 AM

Well I don't know how accurate it'll be but I'll give it a go, transcription is great imo, I've done quite a bit in the last few months.

repcak 07-02-2006 09:22 AM

do you have kalmah - the blind leader on your harddisk?

the solo is so.... eargasm... i cant stop stunning about it ... its shredding, but shredding with style, with emotion... i even cry when i hear the solo. its so full of emotion (imo)

i never thought a solo can wake emotions! for me the solo of "the blind leader" stands for hope, despair, don't giving up in life, struggling in life.
