phil_ares 01-17-2010 03:59 PM

Anyone heard much of War from a Harlots Mouth?

just listening on spotify, kinda liking.

xMalcolmXx 01-17-2010 04:03 PM

they're ok. nothing too special.

phil_ares 01-17-2010 04:04 PM

Yeah I'm half way through their latest release, just wondering if they've got anything special.

xMalcolmXx 01-17-2010 04:12 PM

i only have transmetropolitan. it's a fun listen sometimes, but nothing more.

Jaundice 01-17-2010 04:19 PM

will have to wait for mappy in order to get the official verdict

witchxrapist 01-17-2010 05:01 PM

I like them because of the mathcore aspect.

phil_ares 01-17-2010 05:14 PM
I like them because of the mathcore aspect.
yeah i liked it. but got bored really nothing i haven't heard.

witchxrapist 01-17-2010 06:40 PM

STFU THEYRE AWESOME I HAET U

i love their vox and drummer though tbh

nevertoolate 01-17-2010 07:13 PM
i only have transmetropolitan. it's a fun listen sometimes, but nothing more.
and stick with that Jake, In Shoals is a waste of time tbh

Dimmu Burger 01-17-2010 08:18 PM

I love that machine gun breakdown.

Xplisit 01-17-2010 10:06 PM

Uptown Girl (the version that's on their split with Molotov Solution) is their best song. In Shoals is pretty bad, Transmetropolitan is okay

phil_ares 01-18-2010 09:53 AM

i'll give transmetropolitan a shot when i get home.

Listening to Your Demise today. Seeing them with Architects and A Day to Remember in March.

xMalcolmXx 01-18-2010 12:22 PM
and stick with that Jake, In Shoals is a waste of time tbh
yeah thats what i've heard. transmetropolitan us enough for me anyway.

landonius 01-19-2010 11:36 AM

I just downloaded Hollow Crown, by Architects... Early Grave is very Meshuggah-like, other than that it's kinda bland here and there

witchxrapist 01-19-2010 12:11 PM
Uptown Girl (the version that's on their split with Molotov Solution) is their best song. In Shoals is pretty bad, Transmetropolitan is okay
All of this is very false.

HighandDriving 01-19-2010 02:05 PM

Lol why don't you enlighten him.

Xplisit 01-19-2010 02:09 PM

yeah please enlighten me. if all of what i said is false that means In Shoals is good (maybe i should of figured figured mappy would like awful production and stupid-sounding drums, coupled with the bland boring vocals and talentless guitars)

whats their best song if Uptown Girl isn't? why'd they choose to re-record it just recently?

HighandDriving 01-19-2010 02:11 PM

Ya Mappy, Architects re-recorded To The Death and that's their best song.

Xplisit 01-19-2010 02:13 PM

im not saying that's the reason they re-recorded it; i'm just saying they must think it's good enough to be meshed in with their current material. i've thought it was their best since hearing it like over a year ago.

Architects would like to re-record their best song but I think they've forgotten how to play their instruments since Nightmares

Apoc 01-19-2010 02:21 PM
Architects would like to re-record their best song but I think they've forgotten how to play their instruments since Nightmares
prepare for even more disagreement with Mappy

HighandDriving 01-19-2010 02:27 PM

The one thing that has always impressed me about the Metalcore thread is that the majority agrees Nightmares is their best album, even noobs like hxcplisit grasp that.

Dimmu Burger 01-19-2010 03:48 PM

I love all their albums, but Hollow Crown is my go to album of theirs.

Xplisit 01-19-2010 04:00 PM

im not a noob you asshat!1!

I agree with the production, but the album isn't over-all bad.

I missed the part about In Shoals, don't like that album.

Transmetropolitan is the ****.

Define talentless guitars and bland vocals though, cause those are some pretty arbitrary criticisms.
whats their best song if Uptown Girl isn't? why'd they choose to re-record it just recently?
I'm more about Heyyyy Let's Start A Band tbh.

Ruin has better vocals and production, and more varied song structure, therefor I like it more.

Plus some of the technical riffs on that album are just like, wait... how is a tech riff that catchy?

Xplisit 01-19-2010 04:53 PM

fuck Ruin.

Where's the Rain in Endless Fall talk?

witchxrapist 01-19-2010 05:06 PM

What's wrong with Ruin?

Rain In Endless Fall is ill, I've grown to like Undying more than PFC as far as melodic death-y pre-BTBAM bands go.

They have mad fun hardcore parts.

HighandDriving 01-19-2010 05:37 PM

Nothing except, the production is a bit stale, and if Matt Bayles produced it like O'God, it would've came out better. Nightmares has more memorable riffs, the only riffs I can really remember from Ruin is Buried at Sea and that dirty riff from I Can't See The Light. Also Nightmares doesn't have the terrible cleans, actually when Matt does he's cleans they sound fuc king awesome. That clean break in Hanging Us Tonight is elite, Sam could never pull something similar off. Both vocals sound kinda same-y but Matt sounds down right sinister sometimes while Sam sounds like a robot.

I could keep spewing **** but basically though I like Nightmares more than Ruin by a somewhat small margin. It's just Sam kinda Ruins it for me.

Dimmu Burger 01-19-2010 05:43 PM

lol Ruins it.

Remember when everyone was like, wtf are you talking about with Sam's vocals.

Yeah.

He varies his **** mad a lot on Ruin lol.

It just sounds like you don't listen to Ruin enough.

Heartless, Hunt Them Down, I Can't See The Light, Low, Running From The Sun, and Save Me are all epic songs. Always and You'll Find Safety are the only songs on Ruin that I don't really like.

And I like Sam's clean singing, Matt's cleans aren't actually very good (technically speaking) but they're cool.

2muchket! 01-19-2010 06:27 PM

Matt's cleans are a bit bad if you ask me.

I love all Nightmares and Ruin (you'll find safety and always are sick mappy wtf).

Hollow Crown is a bit meh in places but there is some mad catchy and tech riffs to be enjoyed on that album fo sho.

witchxrapist 01-19-2010 06:29 PM

Hollow Crown definitely grew on me recently.

And IDK man, those two songs are just bland to me for some reason.

see them live, then you'll stop being a fag.

Apoc 01-20-2010 12:18 AM

I think Nightmares is the better album, but I feel Ruin has an overall better sound. Something about the production on Nightmares is constricting, or suffocating maybe - it feels compressed somehow.

As for the writing - Ruin is dank, but it's no Nightmares.

phil_ares 01-20-2010 05:09 AM
Something about the production on Nightmares is constricting, or suffocating maybe - it feels compressed somehow.
yeah i find that usually happens with earlier recordings. I don't know whether it's cheaper production/recording, or the label being stingy etc.

If they re-record Nightmares, it'd be sick.

RetiredAt21 01-20-2010 08:25 AM

This thread sucks anymore, all you fags talk about is Architects.

Xplisit 01-20-2010 09:03 AM
