Black Randy and the Metrosquad - Pass the Dust, I Think I'm Bowie
I downloaded that on some blog some time last year, then totally forgot about it. Until now. The blog described them as being like the James Chance and Contortions of the west coast, that's what got me interested. I'll listen to it tonight, I think. |
Black Randy and the Metrosquad - Pass the Dust, I Think I'm Bowie
fucking great. sounds like dead kennedys' aggression and twisted humor, minutemen's funk, and a little bit of saccharine trust's jazz edge all blended together before any of those bands had released any material. and james brown or something? i don't know but they cover "Say It Loud- I'm Black and I'm Proud" and it's amazing. the lyrics are full of wit and are sometimes hilarious, dripping with irony. this is a must have for all you that enjoy funky punk stuff or just post punk in general, seriously. "I Tell Lies Everyday" and "Idi Amin" represent the album pretty well and are two of my favorite tracks off of it, so check those out if you aren't sure
Hey....you're back. |

Burning Saviours - Hundus
Pale Divine - Thunder Perfect Mind Both excellent, Sabbath-like (in their own way) records. Liking them a lot. Also been listening to a lot of Tim Minchin (Dark Side, So Rock and various random bootlegs), an Australian musician/comedian who I currently can't get enough of. Really good voice, too. |
