cbmartinez 04-22-2009 10:46 PM

i was on fox news, my life is complete

hismajestythepope 04-22-2009 10:57 PM

Eh?

Glitterati 04-23-2009 12:48 AM

he was being interviewed about the simpson scandal update

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 01:03 AM

the local fox channel interviewed me and students from one of my classes about low carbon diets and just kept this clip of me spouting this fact about how eating one pound of meat emits the same greenhouse gases as driving an SUV 40 miles and made it look like I had just learned it. basically my response was in defense of being vegetarian and they completely removed any reference to that as they did with this other veg girl i was with

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 01:07 AM

I don't see how that's a good defense for being vegetarian, moreso a good defense for why SUVs aren't that big of a deal.

Also, lol my mom made fun of you.

Iluvatar 04-23-2009 01:23 AM

karma for being a faggy veg

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 01:36 AM

Like, I'm vegan and everything. But how does that argument even work? Everyone should stop eating meat products to prevent global warming?

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 01:45 AM

pretty much, how does that not make sense

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 01:51 AM

Oh dear lord you are stupid.

christsimpson 04-23-2009 01:55 AM

because global warming is created by humans and not say... the sun. because we have more power than the sun and the forces of nature. mkai. interesting story there.

Iluvatar 04-23-2009 01:57 AM

a better argument in that train of thought is that the emissions from all the cows we raise increases global warming but even then it is lolminiscule

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 02:03 AM
because global warming is created by humans and not say... the sun. because we have more power than the sun and the forces of nature. mkai. interesting story there.
no dude, evil major corporations and meat eaters put the sun there to kill us all slowly while they force us to watch them drive their suvs and eat their baconators!!!

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 02:09 AM

obviously that's not only the way to go about doing it, but it's the simplest and one of the most effective things that the average person can do on a day to day basis, more effective than switching to a hybrid, so i really don't see the dismissal of that argument

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 02:10 AM

Something to do with more researchers saying global warming is a farce and that this is just a natural trend in climates than people saying that its real?

But they don't have UN endorsement so they can't be right!

christsimpson 04-23-2009 02:10 AM

thread makes me hungry

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 02:12 AM

I could eat a thousand tacos right now.

But then I'd **** blood for a few hours and then my intestines would block up and I'd have to go to the hospital. :(

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 02:14 AM

there's also a lot of researchers who say the opposite, this is a different argument entirely

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 02:16 AM

A lot being like 40,000.

There's only like 80,000 intellectuals in the world.

But the argument is retarded, because even if humans stop eating meat, animals will continue to eat meat. Also, the emissions that would make a difference are moreso from livestock like John pointed out earlier.

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 02:19 AM

livestock that wouldn't be raised if the demand for meat was less?

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 02:19 AM

Which means that people should stop eating meat altogether, as opposed to realizing that it's a supliment to, not a staple of the human diet, right?

christsimpson 04-23-2009 02:27 AM

humans did not create global warming. godDAMN are you arrogant. are we to blame for the earth quakes in Italy as well? oh wait no no no - the ICE AGE! yeah. we're behind that mother f'ucker.

and video games are responsible for the Holocaust.

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 02:28 AM

i dont mean to paint myself as an extremist who believes that's the truth or even remotely plausible, I just think that human beings need to dramatically reduce their meat consumption, optimally to zero, realistically 1 meal a week or so.

Iluvatar 04-23-2009 02:29 AM

hey do you leave your computer on when you arent on it?

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 02:29 AM

Iluvatar 04-23-2009 02:33 AM

do chickens cause as much methane production as cows?

hismajestythepope 04-23-2009 02:33 AM

I shower at the highest possible temperature I can until I run out of hot water.

Three times a day.

cbmartinez 04-23-2009 02:34 AM

idk i try not to argue over this subject in general, whatever you do to conserve is commendable and at the same time there are bunch of simple things everyone could do to reduce their footprint, to me it shouldnt be a partisan issue

Iluvatar 04-23-2009 02:34 AM

you know shampooing your hair every day is bad for you

i cant imagine how bad shampooing three times a day is for your hairvironment
