Yaphett Kotto is awesome.

Also, I too would appreesh a link to Heroin's discog. :)

IgniteYourAvail 04-22-2009 11:29 AM

I like every band that's been mentioned in the past, like, 2 pages. The only emo band I've heard that I really didn't like was Spirit of Versailles, something about the vocals or something just irked me.

wait you're not counting the ones I wrote, surely?

anyway Spirit of Versailles are so awesome. the vocals makes Saetia sound like pop vox.

IgniteYourAvail 04-22-2009 11:36 AM

Well I didn't know all the bands you posted, but Belle Epoque rules, and if those other bands sound anything like the bands in parentheses, they probably rule too.

christsimpson 04-22-2009 11:39 AM

check out Build Nest, Sleep. seriously they deserve recognishun. and lots of it. though I predict you will say "they are not emo", like every American does, hehe.

btw I came across a site that said that emo had to be North-American. that was a bit lols. so Canada and USA are the only valid emo countries I guess.

IgniteYourAvail 04-22-2009 11:40 AM

Rofl, that's lame. The best emo I've heard has come from Europe, mainly France.

christsimpson 04-22-2009 11:47 AM

«The best way of telling is to consider the following factors –

* Is the band on an independent record label?
* Does the band sound lo-fi, was the recording of the band very obviously a relatively inexpensive affair.
* Did the band play benefit shows, did their lyrics contain references to socio-political events, did the band encourage their fans to be politically proactive?
* Does the music sound at least vaguely like other Emocore bands, specifically Rites of Spring, Drive Like Jehu, Hoover, Lungfish etc?
* Is the band from America?

If the answer to all of these questions is yes, then chances are you would be reasonably well justified in labeling this band Emocore.»

team_racket 04-22-2009 12:22 PM

Heroin is amazing. 'This time' is one of my favourite songs, its epic.

cbmartinez 04-22-2009 12:57 PM

did the band prematurely break up just as they were actually starting to get good?

Iluvatar 04-22-2009 01:01 PM

Does 95% of their fanbase only know them through internet blogs?

christsimpson 04-22-2009 01:05 PM

are 99% of their track titles consisting of less than four words?

cbmartinez 04-22-2009 05:59 PM
