It really makes no sense that alcohol is legal and marijuana isnt.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. Clarify, please.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. Clarify, please.
I don't agree with his assertion, because people don't always necessarily drink to get drunk (myself, for example), but I guess the point is that people who smoke weed are generally harmless when they're high, while people who get drunk are often loud, obnoxious, dangerous people. How many weed-induced car accidents are there? How much weed-induced violence is there?

The point is blown because, as I have said, you don't ncessarily drink to get drunk.
I prefer marijuana to alcohol, myself.
IM HIGH ON LYFE!

:p

I'm sure the number of marijuana related incidents would rise if it was legalized.

Walrus Gumboot 08-08-2005 07:29 PM
Seconded

Plus, when it comes to driving, id much rather have a guy who is stoned behind the wheel than one who is drunk. It really makes no sense that alcohol is legal and marijuana isnt.
Maybe because marijuana use is easier to be kept illegal, while alcohol is impossible to eliminate

Drunk people= Angry, horny, Stupid, Agressive, Annoying, Loud
Stoned People= Quiet and or Giggley

Stoners>Drunks

Kage 08-08-2005 07:37 PM

EDIT: I take back my post, I'm not going to start arguing about this.

Jom 08-08-2005 07:38 PM

I think my viewpoints are skewed due to the people I was around at university. I never saw stoners (roommate + his friends) or drunks (people on my floor) in a very positive light.

1. The body has natural alcohol in it. It is better at dealing with alcohol intake.

2. Both alcohol and weed can have adverse affects on people, slow down the response time, encourage shallow breathing and are actually remarkably similar in effects.

Both should be illegal or legal. Not one or the other.

Compared with Drunk people (IMO)

Lord Abortion 08-08-2005 07:42 PM

I really don't care, I don't drink or smoke enough for it to make any real difference to me... it just makes chatting up girls easier when they are drunk or stoned
/not in a rape way

RiceMonster 08-08-2005 07:49 PM

Actually, it wouldn't make sense to me if they legalized weed (in Canada anyway). The Goverenment is working hard to slowly eliminate smoking, and ban it all together. Weed is far worse for your lungs, and just worse for you in general than cigarettes are. There have been talks of legalizing it, so really I think it's ridiculous, because that will just make the smoking problem even worse. This is probably the reason why it is kept illegal (here anyway).

Lord Abortion 08-08-2005 07:52 PM

/\/\ probably right... I smoke weed occasionally, but not cigarettes...does that make me a hypocrite?
I'm going to bed, too late for this kind of serious discussion...

Illmatic 08-08-2005 07:53 PM

I don't get it.

I just think people should eat, drink, smoke, watch, read, inject, snort, whatever they want as long as they don't harm another human being.

Emotionally or physically?
Emotionally or physically?
I meant harm, period. Emotional harm is still harm.

Well, there lies a problem. Being a herion addict could seriously hurt your family, because most likely all your money is going to heroin or whatever your drug of choice is.

A child seeing a parent constanly high or in constant distress could easily cause emotional harm to that child.

Than there's drug induced violence, and people commiting crimes for drug money.

So it's hard to not hurt other people, if you are seriously addicted to drugs.

Walrus Gumboot 08-08-2005 07:57 PM

Yeah, i can see that, because I don't know if anyone could do Cocaine/heroi or any other hard drug without causing someone emotional harm

Illmatic 08-08-2005 07:58 PM

That's what I mean by harming another human being.

And for the record, I am not necessarily advocating the legalization of cocaine and heroin, but I am saying that people should do anything that does not harm another human being; however, cocaine and heroin addicts cause harm and distress more than anything, so those have got to go.

EDIT: "cocaine and heroin addicts are the cause harm and distress"? Whoopsie.

RiceMonster 08-08-2005 08:02 PM

Yes, but if it was made it legal as long as anyone don't harm another, it would be impossible to regulate. Plus, the chaces of doing say crystle meth, and not getting addicted are zero, and the chances of not at all harming anoyone with an addiction that serious of an addiction are slim to none. Lastly, the number of people unknowingly (or even knowingly) throwing there lives away for crack, heroin, crystle meth, etc would be out of control.

You understand that a large percent of violence and, well, harm in general, is due to drugs?

There's way more harm that's done than obvious violence...how about the kind of establishments and organizations you're supporting when you buy the stuff?

You were replying to my very general, not-completely-thought-through point.

Riiiight.

And I would imagine that if marijuana was legalized, that problem wouldn't exist.

Whenever I am sad, looking at the Ben and Jerry's ice cream names makes me happy.

Shattered_Future 08-08-2005 08:23 PM

Ice cream is possibly one of God's best creations.

I love this kind called Fudge Tracks (i think)...mini peanut butter cups, vanilla ice cream and huge fudge swirls...SO GOOD.

Especially in a brownie sundae...with 2 brownies and a quart of hot fudge, and a foot of whipped cream, and one of those cherries...

/goes off to rob local ice cream store.

I'm not a big guy on ice cream--for some reason or another I really can't stomach sweets all that much--but I do like Rocky Road.

I always feel like I'm doing something bad if I pick up "magic brownies" or "half-baked" at the store. Even worse when I ask my parents to pick up some

Right now I have a local farm's Pumpkin flavor just for a little variety. It's REALLY good.

They have a "Dave Matthew's Band" Magic Brownies that is different from the normal magic brownies. I think they have one with Phish in the name too.

Phish Food, I think.

Subject of interest to me: Orioles/Rangers slugger Rafael Palmeiro testing positive for steroids.

Joe Morgan said that if Pete Rose cheated and is banned from the Hall of Fame, than Palmeiro, who also cheated, should be banned too.

Frankly, I agree.
