The first part is true, but Stockholm has a few bands that are okay. And the west coast has got Håkan Hellström, which is instant fail.

Anxious 08-22-2008 12:37 PM

I'm listening to Today's ACtive Lifestyles for the first time right now.

samarahah 08-22-2008 12:59 PM

what do you think of it

im currently making a polvo mix of delightful songs to listen to for todays longish car ride

contents:
most of exploded drawing
stinger
thermal treasure
action vs. vibe
enemy insects
twenty white tenths
monolith
etc

should be good

Anxious 08-22-2008 01:00 PM

Its twisted and poppy, and breaks into Sonic Youth like territory from time to time, but most many of the songs I get an air of DC emo. (which is not necessarily a bad thing, I've just never heard them compared to that before). I can't imagine listening to this a lot, though I'm sure they will be fun live.

7/10

samarahah 08-22-2008 01:07 PM

polvo took a little while to grow on me

poopie 08-22-2008 01:29 PM

niobium 08-22-2008 01:42 PM

poopie 08-22-2008 01:56 PM

yea guys dont forget, mark kozelek just put an album out

isnt it amazing

pppoe 08-22-2008 02:02 PM

it's too good.

Bukowski 08-22-2008 02:02 PM

Polvo rules!

Today's Active Lifestyles is one of my favourite guitar albums ever. So many great riffs, amazing dissonant, slide guitar work, and some of the best guitar interplay ever.

Like, the front page of this forum - Polvo are so much better than any band on there, except Six Organs of Admittance. Discuss them more, not less!

Samarahah, you better include Time Isn't On My Side on your cd. Such an eerie song, because of the other-wordly guitars...brilliant lyrics as well (the ones you can make out anyway).

my dad's music nerd friend just burned him a dvd with 4 gigs of music on it. I haven't seen what's on it yet but hopefully there's some good stuff

McP3000 08-22-2008 04:53 PM

I'm sure theres some good stuff. I mean its 4 gigs. But then again, theres probably a good chance you already have all the good stuff

Bronson 08-22-2008 04:55 PM

the third song is pretty sweet, what program/equipment did you use?

Bronson 08-22-2008 05:03 PM

beatcraft and audacity

it would be a lot better if i had actual/good equipment, i'm pretty limited right now

Time 08-22-2008 05:05 PM

i would like to eventually get an old mpc if there's a cheap one on craigslist just to use as a hobby. i need to play around with amateur stuff more first though
