i just realized how much og cred i have for being listed as one of the contributors in the 2nd post

Matt? 04-13-2009 01:22 AM

yeah you're so screamo chris

cbmartinez 04-13-2009 01:33 AM

you could call me one of the "Forefathers of Screamo (Gravity Records; Early 90s-Mid 90s)"

Matt? 04-13-2009 01:40 AM

i was like five so i was too young to know about screamo on my own. i remember when my older brother taped over my raffi tape with an antioch arrow demo. i was in love

with screamo.

christsimpson 04-13-2009 04:39 AM

wait matt you actually like Antioch Arrow? I thought nobody on here liked them because they tried too hard to be The Cure.

Iluvatar 04-13-2009 10:02 PM

the singer from antioch arrow kind of looked like robert smith and they were gothic i guess that means they tried too hard to be the cure

christsimpson 04-14-2009 02:02 PM

I'm writing him a letter sometime soon btw. he seems like a nice guy. maybe we can be penpals.

mph4ever 04-14-2009 04:26 PM

antioch arrow have some awesome songs

hismajestythepope 04-14-2009 11:53 PM

They took me a while to get into, I forget what they sound like now though.

christsimpson 04-15-2009 12:21 AM

chaos with the occasional shouted poetry

Iluvatar 04-15-2009 12:29 AM

sounds like gravity records with weird pop influence

christsimpson 04-15-2009 01:13 AM

pop influence? uhm... where? I mean the first two albums are basically just shouting and chaos, whilst the third one is more claustrophobic and messy.

Iluvatar 04-15-2009 01:15 AM

they have some crazy hooks yo

christsimpson 04-15-2009 01:21 AM

Iluvatar 04-15-2009 01:23 AM

dude seriously chaos vs the cosmos one of the best hooks in skramz ever

also song is baller

christsimpson 04-15-2009 01:40 AM

that track is absolutely fantastic. THROUGH A SCREAM OF BLOWN KISSES!

Iluvatar 04-15-2009 01:41 AM

pixiesfanyo 04-15-2009 02:00 AM

RetiredAt21 04-15-2009 09:50 AM

Me too.

christsimpson 04-15-2009 10:43 AM

that's what so awesome with them. they get on everyone's nerves. you can't listen to Antioch Arrow and not react to it somehow.

RetiredAt21 04-15-2009 11:19 AM

I've never listened to something and not reacted in some way.

Iluvatar 04-15-2009 04:32 PM

mewithoutYou sucks now

hismajestythepope 04-15-2009 05:01 PM

Disppointing.

RetiredAt21 04-15-2009 07:28 PM

I was never that into mewithoutYou, always thought they were merely OK.

cbmartinez 04-16-2009 09:40 AM

new album is good

rasputin 04-16-2009 10:44 AM

Messes of Men is an amazing song

Seattlantic Taxt 04-19-2009 05:05 PM

I've been trying to get some good emo and screamo.
Til now i got these records:
Envy: a dead sinking story (anything else i should get from them?)
Heroin: Discography
Moss Icon: It Disappears and Lyburnum
Indian Summer: Discography
Native Nod: Today puberty...
Still Life: From angry heads with...
Sleepytime trio and maximillian colby
Saetia
Pg. 99 - Document 8
Hoover - Lurid traversal bla bla
funeral diner - underdark

anything else along these lines you recommend?

I tried Orchid a few years ago, but I found it too chaotic. Tried again recently and found it to be too much for me. Guess I cant get into them. Same for CTTS, im gonna try again with them. How good is Raein, because I loove La Quiete.

IgniteYourAvail 04-19-2009 05:20 PM

For Envy, everything before A Dead Sinking Story is very screamo, anything after is very post-rock. Ummm, you have most of the essential ****, you should go for some of the bigger names in European screamo, too, like

Daitro
Amanda Woodward
Gantz
Louise Cyphre
Sed Non Sataita

etc etc. Also, get Cap'n Jazz - Analphabetapolothology, Gospel - A Moon is a Dead World, and any City of Caterpillar stuff.

There's a hole lot more, but these are the top things that come to mind.

Oh, and Raein ****ing rules.

pixiesfanyo 04-19-2009 05:22 PM

Portraits of Past
Shotmaker
Gospel
Brainworms

those four bands won't disappoint you.

cobert 04-19-2009 05:25 PM

portraits of past x500000000000
