Med: Want any Beatles albums over AIM?
There's another Simpsons joke with Peter Frampton, the Homerpalooza episode. Homer releases a balloon pig and it flies away and Peter Frampton screams "Damn it! I got that at a Pink Floyd yardsale!" |
That song is awesome, it's one of my favorite off that awesome album, Brothers and Sisters by the Allman Brothers Band came out the same year and pretty much left Marshall Tucker Band in the dust :(
I suggest everyone buys the s/t if you like it then definitely buy New Life. |
That was a stale link ArrestThisMan.
Who's up for some AIM trading? |

Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins." Homer:"Homer Simpson, smiling politely. You know, my kids think you're the greatest, and thanks to your gloomy music, they've finally stopped dreaming of a future I can't possibly provide." Billy:"Well, we try to make a difference." |

What is a "Zen"? |
What is a "Zen"?
An Mp3 player, sort of like an Ipod, only more cost effective. |
I want a Zen, my Rio Nitrus broke :(
|
Having a Mp3 player kinda terminates the point in having CDs doesn't?
|
Having a Mp3 player kinda terminates the point in having CDs doesn't?
No, you still have to get the songs to listen to so you need to buy cds, unless you download them. |
Yes it does.
edit/ because most people download anyway |
Having a Mp3 player kinda terminates the point in having CDs doesn't?
No. I use an mp3 player to listen to music whilst travelling or away from home, but I buy more CDs than anyone I know. |
All I do is download anyway getting a Mp3 player would make my Cds worthless to me.
Bartender, can you answer my question in the Report Problems/ Ask Questions/ Make Suggestions Thread? |
Oh, yeah. Done. Sorry for the late response.
|
I use an mp3 player, but still buy a ton of CD's. mp3 players simplify everything, so I have a lot of my music with me without carrying around binders filled with CD's, but I don't like to download, so I still buy the CD's, then just rip them and add them to my mp3 player.
|
I have too many CDs...ive been holding 40 CDs in a 30 CD case...and its just not workin , and ive heard all of them at least 50 times. Buring new CDs from the mp3s on my computer would cost alot in blannk disc, so i decided that i dont just want an mp3 player, but i need one.
Im still $250 behind the game though... |
Well, lets face it...CDs sound better then Mp3s. Trust me....my friend burned mp3s onto some CDs and played them in his car stereo, and when turned up, there was a clear difference between the quality of regular CDs and those of mp3s.
Plus playing an album has a whole different character to it then just playing random songs on an mp3 playlist. |
Vinyl > CD's > MP3's
It mostly has to do with sound compression. |
I still love CDs, and i hope they never entirely vanish, but mp3s are just so much more conveniant and organized. I just have too much music...
I cant stand random selection though...its just disgusting. Another way for companies to make money is put on the market asap |
Vinyl > CD's > MP3's

I don't get the obsession some people have with vinyl. You have to get up and flip it, they have lesser sound quality, and they take up more space.
|
And vynil gets scratched easier. You can't put the songs on your computer, on an mp3 player and it's really hard to make compilations.
|

I have no obsession. Its sounds better but I barely listen to them to preserve them. |
Not sure yet. I've only listened to them a little, because I bought several other CDs around the same time (ten, over two days, actually). Sugar Magnolia is a good song though, I knew that already.
Nice :thumb: Those are two great albums, though I prefer others :)
Badmoon do you have any good live versions of Eyes of the World? The studio version is meh.
Yes, I will post it in a few minutes. :) And the sound quality of CD's is much better than vinyl. P.S. Another shroom opportunity had arisen. Next Thursday ;) |
I have no obsession. Its sounds better but I barely listen to them to preserve them.
If it sounds better, why aren't we using them today? CD's have better quality, usually 256Kbps whilst most .mp3s have 128Kbps.. |
Mp3s aren't cool. In fact, they're the opposite of cool. Non-cool!
|
If it sounds better, why aren't we using them today? CD's have better quality, usually 256Kbps whilst most .mp3s have 128Kbps..
Well, maybe because they take up a lot of space, are too expensive to make, and can not play inside of a car. |
And they have the same if not better sound quality, so why wouldn't we use them, it's stupid. I myself do own hundreds of vinyls but I don't listen to them on a regular basis. Half of them are scratched to **** anyway.
|
CDs have a designated amount of space, so better sound quality can fit. In an mp3 player, the less sound quality, the more songs. the more songs=more profit. Thats what its all about
I hate when tey measure space by amount of songs. I would only get about 1/4 of what they claim, since they consider each song to be appr. 2-3 minutes, and mine all average 6-7. But its funny how easily people fall for it... |

Exactly what I was thinking they aren't portable either. JPJ I will need you to send me Zooma because the youssendit files got deleted.:( |
^ True, but look into .ogg(Ogg Vorbis), they are better sound quality in the car, and they are smaller size, a 3-4mb song is about 1.5-2mb.

Unless i'm listening to Yes or Pink Floyd and in that case only about half of it is actul song :p |

Sony has a program that will allow you to have up to 100 songs on a CD. You have to have a .mp3 compatible CD player or stereo(almost all do now). Then you shrink the file, burn as Data and listen to it. :) |
i measure by amount of space (Gigs or Megs). Measuring by songs is so innacurate its rediculous

That's why I have an iPod that is 25GB :) |

Thats what i did to ensure the safety of my music...i burned them all into DATA disc, which i could hold a little elss then a gig on each. Once you put em on a comp, they automatically go to mp3s. If you have a DVD, you can put up to 4.7 Gbs on each, but out comp isnt DVD compatable |
all i got is cds and tapes. :(
