Thats like that SNL skit with Blue Oyster Cult. All they needed was more cowbell, and all the Last Waltz needed was more Niel Diamond. I actually do like one Niel Diamond song though.
 I think that's one of their best skits.

The Diamond song they played was pretty good, but it's the only song of his I've ever heard.
I don't like The Band and the guest appearences don't save it for me.
Dr. John's appearance was the best.

jpj 01-18-2005 06:56 PM

Dr. John's voice was kinda annoying I thought. I think I liked Neil's (Young) the best.

Woodstock 01-18-2005 07:25 PM

Who's anxious for my ordered CD's to arrive? Remember, when I get music, you get music.

magicbus 01-18-2005 07:27 PM

The Neil Diamond one isn't my favorite. I like the Clapton, Neil Young, and The Band's individual performances the best.

RockAndRoll 01-18-2005 07:44 PM

Speaking of DVD's I must say being one of the musician's on the festival express would be one of the best things ever. It's dumb people protest for it to be free though.

jpj 01-18-2005 07:49 PM

People protest that Festival Express should be free? Wtf? But yea it would've been awesome to be there, whether you were a musician or a spectator. I think I read that Robbie Robrtson took so much LSD that Janis Joplin was worried about him.....now that had to have been a lot of drugs.

Badmoon 01-18-2005 07:51 PM

Robertson...drug n00b. And it doesn't take much to have a freak out off of LSD, especially when your on a train with a bunch of people partying. :p

That's my man.

BludgeonySteve 01-18-2005 08:01 PM

Everyone at any sort of music festival has to be on drugs. That's the law.
Everyone at any sort of music festival has to be on drugs. That's the law.
yeah. Take Woodstock for example, everyone was gone on LSD because everything right down to the icecubes was spiked with LSD. I wonder what 12 hour hallucinations would be like?

Badmoon 01-18-2005 08:05 PM

You'd fall asleep eventually.

edtrax 01-18-2005 08:39 PM

How could a sincere lover of hard rock/metal not love some classic rock....I,m a die hard thrash metal lover but my roots are etched in my soul through early Deep Purple , Grand Funk , Foghat , Nazareth , Derringer , Mahogany Rush , Johnny Winter. Kids Today would find themselves in amazement in encountering some of these vintage recordings...Early 70,s releases by Ted Nugent and REO Speedwagon paved the way for alot of today's heavy music...And will never be dated.

Ya, they thought it should be free. Musician would be better than spectator though, you get to tour the country on a train jamming with other musicians the whole time and such.

Sometimes people are just picky about pointless things with music, such as the date it came out. It's a shame.

Woodstock 01-18-2005 09:03 PM

Let's talk Kinks. Any fans? They had the hits Lola, You Really Got Me, and All Day And All of the Night.

I Wish I could Fly Like Superman is really good too..
Why did they get banned from the U.S. for 4 years?

Why? I'd like to hear this. I don't know much history of the band.

Johnny B. Good 01-18-2005 09:24 PM

I dunno why, that's why I asked you. All I know is that it happened right after All Day and You Really Got Me became big songs

Woodstock 01-18-2005 09:25 PM

Probably some sexually provocative stage antic. Some would call them the first "punk" band.

Johnny B. Good 01-18-2005 09:26 PM

I'd say first hard rock band

Badmoon 01-18-2005 09:27 PM

Post in my Panic thread

Woodstock 01-18-2005 09:28 PM

You Really Got Me sounds like a modern day punk song. And the whole album Lola vs. Powerman was revolved around them hating the evil music industry.

Johnny B. Good 01-18-2005 09:32 PM

Aside form the great guitar solo You Got Me would be a punk song. And I don't blame them for hating the music industry, it screws over quite a few people.

bonhams_alive 01-18-2005 09:33 PM

im 14 and i think the only true rock n roll is from the 80's and earlier. only a few bands that formed in the 990's are good.

bonhams_alive 01-18-2005 09:35 PM

you should check out ten years after they are amazing. also beck bogart and appice
