|
seviss and megiddo are two musts if you haven't heard them already.
|
anyone wanna do a post-rock primer for in here?
|
We can all work on one. I'm wondering if we should have Sludge and Post-Metal, just because there's no category mentioning Neurosis on the front page and that's fuckin' blasphemy.
Post-Rock Essential and Obvious: Explosions in the Sky Sigur Ros Jaga Jazzist Godspeed You! I don't really listen to post-rock anymore. |
Any bands similar to Frontier Ruckus and The Halifax Pier?
|

I can live with that, yeah.
Should we combine Post-Metal/Sludge? We could have combined post-metal and post-rock but I think the distinction is actually blurrier with sludge. |
why not
|

we'll use that thanks
i can't claim to know anything about post-metal/sludge |
hell no to combining with post-metal and sludge wtf
yeah i donno but we definitely need sludge because there's no Neurosis on the front page and that's blasphemy. |
yeah mixing sludge and post-metal is a bad idea but we can definitely do a seperate sludge section
wnat me to get one started? |
yeasure
only reason i wanted to mix them was so it would be represented, id ont think its the same as post-rock tbh but i think the post-metal fad is over anyways so it's not a big deal |
yeah neurosis is far more appropriately placed in a sludge section
ill get to it right now |
I need some black/drone/ambient something like on Sunn O))) album Black One and something like Gnaw Their Tongues but with no influences of noise.
|
okay here's a quick blueprint for Sludge, I'm sure others may have a lot more to add
Sludge Metal Bands you may already like: Queens of the Stone Age Isis Pelican Kylesa Weekend Nachos Converge Year of No Light Mouth of the Architect Callisto OM Essential: Corrupted Grief Neurosis EyehateGod Noothgrush Graves at Sea Boris Dystopia Bands you should check out: Accept Death Church of Misery Fistula Harvey Milk Lair of the Minotaur Moss Swallow the Ocean Thou Sea of Deprivation |

from the other page. |
Converge? I can't really agree with that. Or Om, really, but that's moreso because they're terrible.
from the other page.
Nadja |
Couldnt really get into them. Anything else?
|
I'm not saying OM or Converge are sludge, I'm saying that if you like those two bands their may be a chance you will like Sludge.
OM for obvious reasons, Converge because a lot of sludge has a lot of hardcore influence in it. and OM rule stfu |
Still think I'm gonna take Converge out, sorry. Rest is good though, I'll leave Om in.
|
There needs to be a hardcore band or two in the bands you may already like, it's important for bands like Dystopia or Accept Death. I just chose Converge because they're well known around these parts.
|
Nice list berkay. Can't think any bands to add to that list. I'll do a Post-Metal one later today.
|
Post-Metal

Verminous Infester
not really sure what you mean by black metal influence - i don't really hear much black metal in infester, but i haven't heard verminous. here are some recs anyway, of what i think you might want. not sure which ones you have so ill just give a big list: Abhorer - Zygotical Sabbatory Anabapt Grave Miasma - Exalted Emanation Accidental Suicide - Deceased Adversarial - All Idols Fall Before the Hammer Aethyvorous - Demo Blasphereion - Rest in Peace Blaspherian - Allegiance to the Will of Damnation Buried Beneath - The Last Days of the Moon Cruciamentum - Convocation of Crawling Chaos Divine Eve - Upon These Ashes Scorn The World Grave Upheaval - S/t Infinitum Obscure - Internal Dark Force Innumerable Forms - Dark Worship Karnarium - Deity of Opposites Magus - Ruminations of Debauchery Mitochondrion - Archaeaeon Necros Christos - Trivne Impvrity Rites Shub Niggurath - Evilness And Darkness Prevails Thou Shalt Suffer - Into The Woods Of Belial |
Okay i need some oldschool death metal with maybe some black metal influences. pretty much something like these bands
Verminous Infester
The Chasm? |
yah the chasm prob would be one, also most typical mexican death metal bands might fit the type
|
I need some death metal fused with power electronics.
|
why
|
just curious if any groups fuse noise with death metal, i've heard it in BM but it could be cool if done right
not really after soft ambient stuff thrown in it's gotta be brutal frequencies like Prurient |
yeah it occurs reasonably frequently in black metal but that's because they share some common ground, whereas i think it would be a lot rarer to find that mixed with death metal
perhaps the closest you could come is extremely low end heavy death metal with muddy production - i've never heard of any purposeful combination of power electronics and death metal |
