Let's not get carried away now...

IheartSP 08-03-2005 05:04 PM

I can't get into this Bodom cause I have a pretty big dislike for NWOAHM (which I like to call metalcore but all you crazys out there yell at me) and it sounds way more like that than anything else.

Well, some NWOAHM are metalcore, but not all. I don't see any resemblance between that and new Bodom. I mean really, how many NWOAHM bands do you know that use keyboards like that?

Hells Bells 08-03-2005 05:15 PM

That's true, but I think he's talking about how the song sounds overall. I think most people agree that the keys are the only thing about that song that makes it sound remotely like bodom.

I disagree. Take away the keys and I think it sounds in the exact same vein as Knuckleduster.

IheartSP 08-03-2005 05:32 PM

Knuckleduster wasn't a very good song either...

Shadows 08-03-2005 05:38 PM

I don't like Knuckleduster much either. I really dig this one, though. It's like they used the same style as Knuckleduster but improved on it. I'm guessing there will still be tracks on the new album like TL&S as well, so I'll buy as soon as I get the chance.

Hendrix92 08-03-2005 07:08 PM

I recently started listening to them, I like Trashed, Lost, and Strungout the most, the flange intro is sick. I also like how he sings on key but still growls in the chorus. My other favorite song of theirs is Better off Dead. I like Children of Bodom because they use a different catchy melody with guitar and keyboard in each song, and Alexi ****in' rips on guitar too.

Hells Bells 08-03-2005 07:19 PM
Knuckleduster wasn't a very good song either...
Yeah I wasn't too impressed with it either. I completely forgot about the TL&S EP, I liked Trash Lost and Strungout, it'll probably be on the new album..I'm starting to feel better about the new album haha.

ArcLite 08-03-2005 07:44 PM

Huh, I'm quite a fan of Knuckleduster myself. I love it cranked up in the car. I guess it's just a good pump up song for me.

Yes, I am back after 4 weeks of Time Warner Cable screwing me over...nice to have internet again, I almost killed myself.

TL&S is on the new album. I've heard they will be remastering it for the new album, too. I love that song, so there's a plus to buy the new stuff.

I'm looking on the official messageboard on COBHC.com to see if I can get a leak of the cover. :D

Still looking, but here's something to keep you occupied in the mean time. Not Children of Bodom, but still quite funny.

I'm listening to John 5's solo album and it's really making me wonder.

Yeah, I have heard some of that album. that guy is wicked good

AA-12 08-04-2005 10:22 AM

Well, Alexi Laiho isn't the most amazing guitarist technical wise by any means, but's he's an amazing metal guitarist.

Shadows 08-04-2005 10:23 AM

Very true, but I think John 5 blows most of those "guitar virtuousos" right out of the water. He deserves so much more credit as a musician.

Yeah, you never hear much of him. And he is really great.

He's incredible. I should bring up some uploads just to introduce people to him. I'm writing up a Vertigo review right now.

AA-12 08-04-2005 10:25 AM

I'd say the greatest overall vituoso living today is John McLaughlin, I don't think anyone can match his skill level. If Shawn Lane was still alive i'd say he would be right up there with McLaughlin.

Shadows 08-04-2005 10:26 AM

Shawn Lane is dead? How old was that video you uploaded?

AA-12 08-04-2005 10:27 AM

Yeah, he is. I'm not sure on the date of the video. He died in '03 though.

I think so too. I'll upload some stuff, that way I could include them in my review too.

Taste_My_Scythe 08-04-2005 10:29 AM

 I'm so pissed! I've been on the COBHC official messageboard for about an hour, reading a long *** thread on the new cover they are doing it's been released on Finnish radio, and some of the people are going to get up early in the morning and record it. Now I've got to wait, and I don't even know if they'll post it. Damn them.

EDIT: yeah, I've heard about John5 being good. I haven't heard him though.

Oh, I'll fix that.

Are you really that eager to hear Britney Spears? I was the same way you are about In Your Face, but I'll just wait for the cover.

Dude, I'm eager to hear anything new from Bodom. The cover is supposed to be fucking halarious. They've got a Finnish girl in there too, doing some female vocals, and sometime during the cover, the guys can be heard speaking in Finnish about beer or something along those lines.

John - I'm aware.

Ok. Here's how you preorder the single, and keep tabs on buying the album when it comes out.

That is the order information.

Are they going to be offering preorders on the new album too? I've been wondering about that for a while. I'll place an order for AYDY? as soon as the option arises.

Probably, that's why I said the links will be good for you to keep checking up on it. Spinefarm is Finnish or at least Europe based anyways, and the album comes out there first. So, I'm assuming it's possible.
I'm going to ask for my parents' credit card asap. :thumb: The only problem is, they have a problem with ordering things in euros for some freakish reason. I hope I can get it.

I will too. My parents are pretty cool when it comes to using their credit card.

I'm sure the album will be offered here in the US too, so you most likely won't have to worry about importing it from Finland and paying in Euros.

Drugstep 08-04-2005 11:02 AM

When it is released in US, I'll probably tell my mom to give me twenty of the like seventy dollars she owes me, then I'll quietly sneak to Store and purchase it. No questions asked.
