T'would :).

Kevin! How are ya mate?

Moseph tried to get to be sesh mod and nothing seems to have happened there. Moaner's got himself a band :D. Other than that, it's all burbled away as usual.

What've you been up to?

Ugh. Trust me. Being a mod ain't worth it sometimes.

Aus_rock_god 10-22-2006 09:55 PM

Errrg! I've been flat out busy with my band as we get ready to record our EP. We've been practicing 4 times a week and gigging twice a week.

But a spanner got thrown in the works yesterday when my great grandmother died (Rest In Peace Supernan), and her funeral is on the day of an audition for a concert that was going to pay for the printing of our CDs and the booklets.

Now I'm pulling my hair out, desperately waiting for a phonecall to say we're all good to throw a quick demo together at a mate's place tonight.

I hate waiting.

I play like every instrument now for real and marching band is ruining my life.
I think I'll audtion for a drum corp this summer. :chug:
Really that's awesome, the forums are just as I left them. and how about yourself?

Trigger_003 10-23-2006 01:00 AM

Studying heaps and doing loads of musical commitments... the usual. I was going to ask if you'd learnt any new instruments :). What've you added to the list?

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that Jase. I just found out that one of our family friends died as well :(.
Sounds like your band is getting somewhere though. Will we be hearing any of it? :hopeful:

Aus_rock_god 10-23-2006 01:53 AM

Of course you will, I need you guys to slap me in the head and tell me if anything is sh!t. lol.

Jo Shoe Wah 10-23-2006 07:57 AM

Awesome, looking forward to it man. And sorry to hear about your nan :( How's stuff going with the band though, stressful? Lotsa fun? Both :p ?

kevbud187 10-24-2006 12:30 AM

okay new list....
All Woodwinds, All Brass, Marching Percussion, Mallet Percussion, Some other percussive intruments, Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drum Set...other stuff

However, the clarinet still owns your lyfe... ya for Mozart Concerto and rose etudes...

Trigger_003 10-24-2006 01:28 AM

Hehe, e-slap.

Schweet Kev.

But what about the triangle, have you mastered that yet? My mate's old drum teacher does some MAD triangle (and I am 4srs - maybe even 5srs - it's insane... wish I had a vid).

Jo Shoe Wah 10-24-2006 02:25 AM

I know a guy who plays some kickass tambourine, bloooows my mind. :p

Heyyyy mr tambourine man play a song for me, im not sleepy and theeres no place im goinngg too

Trigger_003 10-24-2006 05:23 AM

Yeah, it's pretty friggen sad. She had a really good innings. Went through two world wars, got chased by Nazis, established herself in Australia and taught herself english, helped raise 3 generations of kids.

What's really getting to me is that she never saw her great great grandson, but Jack's too little for a big trip to the country.

Jamming, songwriting, practice and shows are fun. Everything else is a bit stressful.

At the moment, life is days of bordom, followed by weeks of craziness.

Word of the wise: use the weeks of bordom to catch up with your family dudes.

Andrew and I are sharing the management role, although I think Andrew might end up doing the bulk of it so I can get my life on track rather than waiting for the next avaliable opputunity. We're making serious moves to get onto an Indie label too, because some funds would be nice so we can get the album recorded and distributed.

Then the plan is to hire a booking agent, hire a manager (somone we can trust), organise a tour about 3 months in advance, then run on auto-pilot and cruise through the craziness and see what happens.

And the triangle = instrument of the gods.

Jo Shoe Wah 10-24-2006 08:14 AM

That sounds really great man, good luck with it i'd love to hear your stuff. And that's a real shame about her not meeting your son, (great great grandson, wow those are long innings), my dads dad died before i ever met him, but i've heard plenty of stories. Enjoy recording your album :p

kevbud187 10-25-2006 12:11 AM

I could march triangle... lol

Anyways, girls are crazy please help me because the Love/Relationship Thread is no good... So... I recently broke up with a long time girlfriend... I have a new girlfriend though, but no one knows about her... and we both want to keep it that way... The only problem is that there are 3 or 4 other girls that have HUGE crushes on me and I want to be there friends, but I don't want to lead them on. Please help. How do you make girls un-like you, without being a total slob or telling them that you have girlfriend?

Trigger_003 10-25-2006 02:56 AM

I'm pretty crazy.

You could say - or imply that - the breakup really threw you and you're not interested in anything any time soon because of that. Makes you look sensitive which doesn't diminish your reputation (:p) and doesn't result in lost friendships. That might delay the problem long enough for them to move on too. Hate to suggest you lie, but looks like you might need to if you're really wanting to keep it a secret.
That do?

Nice stuff there Jason. Throw me some dates if the tour happens, I might come along for a listen.

Just don't flirt with em. Girls let guys make the first move for a reason.

And if they flirt with you, play dumb and don't flirt back :thumb:

Jo Shoe Wah 10-26-2006 12:25 AM

Jason...man....i just listened to some of MSM's stuff on your site, hollyyy crap you guys are good. Mind like a bomb is kickarse, are you gunna add vocals to that or is it meant to be instrumental, either way i think it's great, be sure to let me know when your album is done. :)

kevbud187 10-26-2006 12:32 AM

okay this is inmpossible though
one girl is my partner in spanish and we are learning adjectives(nice, pretty, ugly, bad, fat, tall skinny, short, blonde, brunette, redhead, sociable, talented) and its hard not to compliment her, becuase she is pretty and nice and I don't want ot be stuck with her after being a jerk.
the other girl I NEVER talk to... but I wear sunglasses all day and people can't see my eyes... I catch her starring at me and blushing when I come in the room and smiling at me and all this random stuff
...ya they all have something preventing me from ignoring them. Anyways I'll try and get a picture of my girlfriend up and some other people too

Jo Shoe Wah 10-26-2006 12:39 AM

There's probably not a whole lot you can do to put them off in a more gentle way if they're onto you like you say. So either ignore their flirting etc whilst still being nice...or you and your girlfriend may have to agree to let other people know if it's really bothering you that much.

May i ask why you guys don't want anyone to know?

kevbud187 10-26-2006 04:09 AM

we are members of the marhcing band... DRAMA

okay but a more serious explaination. Everyone in the whole school will gossip about us and we dont want that. We arent into the whole PDA thing so no reason to advertise and also she has a similar problem that i have with some guys. Only problem is they will see it as me stealing her from them and will no longer be our friends.

Aus_rock_god 10-26-2006 04:56 AM

:embarrassed: Holy sh!t, thanks man.

I'll be recording the vocals for Mind Like A Bomb on friday, as well as Juliet's Blood. Those two songs are my musical pride and joy. Hopefully the album will be done before I'm sprouting grey hair .

Kev dude: Yeah, gossip blows, but then again, being proud of your feelings for somone and not being afraid to be open about it is pretty cool. You guys might eventually find it easier to tell people about it.

Jo Shoe Wah 10-26-2006 05:54 AM

No problems jase, cant wait to hear it with vocals :p

Kev, yeah i see what you mean now. I can't really see anything you can do but try to seem dissinterested with these other girls, or somehow make THEM think...nah i only want to be friends, most other guys accomplish that easily enough :thumb: Seriously though, if they make a move just politely decline, if they don't...just let em keep hoping..they are they ones putting themselves out there, theres not too much you can do.

kevbud187 10-26-2006 10:50 PM

this sucks... they are all tempting... thats horrible, but true. pics by sunday.

Jo Shoe Wah 10-28-2006 09:31 PM

Haha i feel so stupid, i've been trying to figure out how to export projects to an mp3 from cubase, because every time ive tried it did it in a whole bunch of seperate wav files. Now i've finally figured it out and don't know how i missed it. Anywho i'm almost happy with the mixing of a recording a friend and i did with a keyboard, guitar and a backwards wired wah pedal going through an effects pedal, once i'm done i may post it and see what you guys think. :)

Aus_rock_god 10-29-2006 05:10 AM

Backwards wired wah???? This could sound kinda really cool...

*pricks ears up*

By the way, we recorded yet another on the weekend.

Trigger_003 10-29-2006 04:31 PM

Sounds interesting. Do post it :).

Awesome, how many have you done now Jase (for the current project, not in total :p)?

Aus_rock_god 10-29-2006 06:43 PM

We now have 4 tracks demoed with all instruments, one without the drums written and one with no vocals (Mind Like a Bomb, still). So 6 all up. There's 11 songs written for the album so far (we have a handful more songs, but they're still in the pipeline), but with our new guitarist, it could go up to 15 by the time we hit the studio.

Hopefully by Saturday I should have demos for all 11 songs.

How's your band going Trea? When are you guys playing next? I need an excuse to go down to Melbourne for a night :P.

Trigger_003 10-29-2006 07:19 PM

Good as. Mind Like A Bomb is sick :).

It's exam season right now so no big gigs coming up soon... there are some christmas gigs lined up a bit later and a few marches but I very much doubt that's what you're looking for, haha. The Australia Day Tour we're doing should be pretty good but it's up Charlton/Swan Hill way, which isn't exactly Melbourne :P. Other than that it's only some corporate events... we kinda wind down a bit over summer seeing a lot of us go away then. I'll let you know when there's something on though. Keep us posted if you're ever playing in Melb, k?

Aus_rock_god 10-29-2006 07:58 PM

Hey, I'm down for any kind of music as long as it isn't made by computers.

I'll let you know the second we get something booked in Melbourne.

Jo Shoe Wah 10-30-2006 03:58 AM

That's mad Jase, sounds like it's coming along nicely.

Live music sounds alot better down there, the central coast where i am (between sydney and newcastle) is patheeeeetic.

In other news we jammed on the weekend and though it wasn't overly productive we just jammed freely, made up a progression and improvised for 10 minutes straight, the other guys wanna put some structure into it and convert it into a song now. :p I'm also getting quite a bit of progress on a few things i've been writing, between year 12 and all the ideas i've been flooded with lately i've been sooo busy, but i'm loving it :D

Btw Trea...i saw that thread in guitar "electric is extremely worse than classical"....some of the comments in there were so ridiculous, the whole forum seems so childish sometimes. Beginner questions and The Jam session are just like bomb shelters haha, but nice work trying to put some things into perspective.

I'll put my recording up asap :)

Aus_rock_god 10-30-2006 04:49 AM

What? There's an e-fight with Trea involved???

*grabs his axe and runs off to join Trea in battle*

Improv is so much fun, especcially spontanious improv, or when someone just starts belting out Funky Town or 1000 Miles and it leads to a 20 minute stupid jam.

Get that recording up already man! I wanna hear some Haw pedal action!

Trigger_003 10-30-2006 04:57 AM

lawl
*flexes e-muscle*
Thanks bro.

Yeah jams are great fun. So's abandoning music completely in those situations other than me creating a theme song on the spot while the other two run around knocking chairs over pretending to be their alias super heros: Super Joy Joy and Anti Joy Joy (result of my sister telling one of them to grow up).
Everyone changing instruments works well too.

Hawwww!!!
Hey, we could get one that goes hawahawahawah.

Jo Shoe Wah 10-30-2006 05:05 AM

I'll upload what i've got done now and edit the link in :p

EDIT: Sorry about the holdup guys, i couldn't get my putfile to work last night, here you go.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=620514

Still needs further mixing...and i think i may rerecord the guitar to make it a little more distinguishable from the haw (:p) track

Trigger_003 10-31-2006 05:11 AM

Glad I didn't wait up :p.

Dayyymn that band pic is hawt. You should keep the name of the song as is... it'd look interesting on the back of an album.

Sounds cool man, nice work :).

EDIT: Oh yeah, did my year 12 exam today. I'm swapping between feeling like I stuffed it up (which I don't think is realistic, but I have this habit of feeling that way... even when I got 98% on my last practice exam lawl) and did quite well.
I guess I've just gotta wait til Dec to find out.

Jo Shoe Wah 10-31-2006 06:23 AM

Thanks :) Haha i drew that in paint, the result of some boredom filled nights :p i really should fix up the drummers kit/entire body haha.

Good luck with your results aye, what subject was this for.. maths? Or music? I have a feeling one of those, a top of the year student in most classes who got 98% on the last practice sounds pretty convincing to me :p

Hahaha, super joy joy...oh and in relation to the stupid jam improv you mentioned jase, we sometimes just bust out into rock lobster or something similar after we've rehearsed a few songs, haha jamming is soo much fun. :chug:

kevbud187 10-31-2006 07:17 PM

so what were you guys for Halloween?

Jo Shoe Wah 10-31-2006 09:55 PM

We don't have it :p Though my brother went to a halloween party. You?

Trigger_003 11-01-2006 12:29 AM

Halloween...

I was celebrating after my exam :D.

My friend's mum was drunk. Hahaha she (my mate) came home from trick or treating with her little bro and her mum was standing out on the side of the road in some strange clothes, with her hair all crazy, face painted white, this massive drawn on monobrow and bright red lips, waving to all the cars going past (on a busy road btw). She'd also adapted the front yard to be like a graveyard, and put candles on the letterbox. My friend was like "omg, get inside before someone sees you!".
 She was saying that one of the candles fell over and lit the letterbox on fire, and her mum was just standing there laughing at it, so she had to go and put it out.

But yeah, us Aussies don't really do anything halloweenish. I saw two girls dressed up when I was driving home, but that was the extent of it and was pretty unusual. How bout you though?

Hehe, :embarrassed:. You might've seen it in the other thread, but it was for IPM which is an IT subject. It's great because I'm taking the other IT subject for VCE next year which practically has the exact same theory as this year's course, just more on the programming side practically. VB ...wow?

Aus_rock_god 11-01-2006 12:50 AM

Grr. I've offically spent the whole day unsuccessfully trying to fix my web browser. I can't open more than one window at a time.

It's frustrating the living f*ck out of me, because I can't listen to any indie and unsigned stuff on Soundclick, or update the MSM website (which hasn't been touched for about 4 months).

Somthing has embedded itself in IE itself and now whenever there's a word like "student" or "music" or "sex" or "cheap" there's a green hyperlink over it.

My nerd skills are too weak to fix it :( I need the help of Obe Won Nerdburger :(.

As for Haloween... my little brother went to school dressed and Jean Simmons .
