Oh dear. Then it's probably a fake. It's on this bootleg, I assume, called Last Screams.
Interstellar overdrive (ext) (Barrett/Waters/Wright/Mason) Flaming (Barrett) Apples and oranges (Barrett) The gnome (Barrett) Mathilda mother (Barrett) Pow r toc h (Barrett/Waters/Wright/Mason) Jugband blues (Barrett) Scream thy last scream (Barrett) Vegetable man (Barrett) Julia dream (Waters) Massed gadgets of Hercules (Barrett) Murderistic woman (Barrett) Let there be more light (Waters) What's the shame Mary Jane (Barrett-Lennon-Ono) It would be so nice (Wright)
Yeah I would still get that though it looks pretty cool. And What's the Shame Mary Jane is a decent enough track aside from the crappy sound quality, but mabye its different on that album. EDIT: I just can't get over this 22+ min version of A Saucerful of Secrets I have on a 1970 bootleg from the Fillmore West. And Careful With That Axe Eugene is so trippy its scary. |

Riva=Welcome What's the best version of Careful With That Axe, Eugene? EDIT: oh man, I don't know if you can still DL that. |
Mother is such a good song, the acoustic riff, the low organ in the background, the drums during the solo, the actual solo of course, etc. I always kind of overlooked it.
Set The Controls is quite possibly my favorite song to put me to sleep during study hall. Seriously, I was working on some assignment one day, and it shuffled on, and I suddenly I woke up like 30 minutes later when the bell rang. I listen to it whenever I need to get to sleep quick (the LAP version to be exact) I don't think the song is boring or anything, I love it, but it is so incredibly soothing somehow, especially when it gets the "spacey" part between the two vocal sections. Plus the muffled drums, mystic bassline, and soft beautiful vocals... yeah... zzz... wha- wha? where?... zzz... |
im watching some pink floyd vids at youtube.com, pink floyd looks awsome live!

And yeah, I feel asleep once to that song also. I love the way it lulls you into the rhythm of the song. So soft and cosy. I just finished downloading that bootleg from another site. It is pretty good.

YouTube is such a great site. I've found so much cool PF stuff. I think the first PF vid I ever watched on there was the music video for See Emily Play  So awesome. Riva, do you like Mastodon? I got Leviathan a little while ago, it's pretty sweet, even for me, a non-metalhead. |
3rd page is not acceptable.

I know right, I'm so tired of "double-posting" to bump when I kill the fred.
Yeah, a pretty fun band. Not one of my favourite metal ones though. I respect them for reading great literature though.
Yeah, I still haven't read Moby Dick but I'm sure I will eventually. Could you help me out a little bit with the album as a concept? I understand it's about Moby Dick, I'm confused about the viewpoint in the songs sometimes. Does it switch between Moby and Ahab? And what is the significance of Joseph Merrick? np: Blood And Thunder - Mastodon and Plasma HD TV Episode - The Simpsons |
The viewpoint in the book is always from the point of view of Ishmael.
I don't know the lyrics of the album well, so I can't explain why Joseph Merrick, the elephant man, is in the album. |
Riva, your icon is huge. I like it.
Hey guys. Not too much to contribute, just stopping in. I listened to WYWH (the album) for the first time in months yesterday. It was nice, I'd forgotten how awesome SOYCD is. |
Hehe, I'm always listening to WYWH, so I don't think I could ever forget its awesomeness. Nice to see you again, Ethan.
|
Nice to see you too. So what's been going on in here lately? Any shocking revelations?
I read somewhere an interview with The Flaming Lips, and they mentioned something about having done a cover of WYWH (the song). I'd love to get a hold of that. |
I picked up Live In Pompeii: The Director's Cut the other day, it's really cool. All the interviews were pretty interesting, it was nice to see that Roger's ego hadn't taken off yet.
I listen to WYWH probably about once a week. I'm continuing to enjoy On An Island, though the lyrics do get to me at times. If Gilmour could put the same emotion and power into words that he does his guitar playing, it would be pretty amazing. I guess they're not too bad, I just think they lack a little substance in places. |

Yeah the lyrics are kinda...meh. He actually didn't write a lot of them. Most came from his wife and a few other people who helped out. He admits himself that he's never been much of a lyricist lol. I wonder what he's gonna do after the tour is done. |
i saw david gilmour at radio city...simply amazing. i also have tickets to see roger waters at the garden, and i was wondering if anyone knew if nick mason and rick wright are playing too? ive heard rumours, but nothing for sure. thanks.

I saw Gilmour at Radio City, whitch night were you there? When I went it was such an amazing show. It looks like I'll be seeing you at Roger's show as well. Waters will be hard pressed to beat Gilmour's show. To Med: It almost happend. So close. Gilmour said yes to doing a reunion for a show and Wright said no. I guess he still has strong feelings about Roger throwing him out of the band. |
Riva...your avatar is so...awesome.

Thanks. I'll be sure to check them out.
Nick Mason is playing some dates with Roger Waters, and Rick Wright is touring with Dave Gilmour at the moment. No three members of Pink Floyd are playing as a group though, which is sad. I doubt that Rick Wright will appear with Waters short of a full-scale Floyd reunion, and Mason playing in a group with Wright and Gilmour is also probably unlikely as it would basically be the post-1984 version of Pink Floyd.
What a thing to see that would be. |
Thanks. I'll be sure to check them out.
Check out Where We Start also, it's my favorite at the moment. I would love to see an '84 version Floyd reunion, it's possible I guess. |
i saw gilmour on april 4., in the 100-200 seat area. 170 dollars(!!), but definately worth it. im going to the sep12 waters show. i didnt think that wright would be there, because the kid that told me that asked if i thought gilmour would show up. oh well. does anyone know if nick mason will be at the sep 12 show?
|
I find irony in Pink Floyd memebers touring. Although I think they would get angry at each other on tour, would it kill them to get together and play 12 huge cities across the world.
I remember hearing them say how that they won't tour, because of what it takes out of you.. And they're touring! |
i just found this...
"Roger Waters will perform Pink Floyd Classics on the first part of the show...and the second of the show he will perform the whole of 'The Dark Side of The Moon' in its entirety. Nick Mason and Rick are said to join Roger Waters." here's the site where i found it: http://www.free-tabs.com/news/2006_5_08_roger_waters_to_perform_pink_floyd_and_solo_material_on_new_tour.htm |
What, Wright said no to a reunion between him, Mason and Gilmour for that reason? Because that doesn't make much sense at all, given that they performed together on tours for the two post-Waters Floyd albums. I've never really been clear on why Mason, Wright and Gilmour stopped touring actually, if anyone knows.
They ran out of money, I guess.
Yeah, it would be very good. Particularly so for those people who didn't get to go to Live 8 I guess, but then again I don't really know how that felt. :asshole:
:arsehole: |
They ran out of money, I guess.
Could be. I believe they would actually lose money for everyday they toured for the Division Bell -- No one in Pink Floyd made any money. No idea if that's true.. |

Yep we were at the same show wasn't it amazing? His cover of Dominoes, Echoes and SOYCD were the highlights of the show for me. Also I wouldn't get my hopes up about both Rick and Nick being there. On Roger's official site it says only Nick will be there, and only for 3 or 4 of the shows. Med: Yeah I know I was supprised to hear that too but it would have only been for one show, perhaps one or two songs even at the show. I heard it from a reliable source thats never been wrong before, but there is always a chance it could have been a rumor. I heard Rick said no because he wanted to work on his own album after he was done with Gilmour's tour. But what was it you heard Gilmour said about the Live 8 show that was negitive? I had only heard positive things he said like him emailing Water's saying "I had a lot of fun Rog" |
