it'll grow on you, trust me...

my friend and i were talkin about this the other night...about the whole Ben Vs. Dirk thing and we came to this conclusion

Ben is better live
Dirk is better on albums

i think Ben is afraid to come up with something new other then just providing rhythem because he's stepping into a band that already has a distinct sound. he should just chill and lay down some sh!t. you can see his potential on his solo albums.

I liked about half the album right off the bat,the others im sure will grow, its very
very ACLOTM ish but thats ok, i guess everyone just wants them to sound like the old SCIENCE days but that will never happen,on another note i think thats the first time ive heard Mike Einziger finger pick on Pendulous threads!
Mike Einziger is so underrated.
I totally agree with you Mr. Rhoades. Since listening to Incubus over two years ago I can say that Mikes playing has definately influenced mine. I think it's the combination of massive guitar sounds and the 5-string bass that I love.

Another unbeliever, hey? Fvck you.

:D

How many songs did Dirk actually play below the E? I can't think of anything off the top of my head... I'm just asking since I get the impression he only played a fiver for the slap advantages, not necessarily for extended range.

Sound Boy 12-01-2006 04:32 PM

theres a couple he played below E...but its nothing you cant play with a 4 string. only parts of "new skin", "clean", and "glass" is there a part where you actually need it to sound like the song. on "glass" cause its cool to have that lil slide in there.

gocubs649 12-01-2006 04:36 PM

I tried to buy tickets for the Incubus concert like, ten minutes after they were on sale and it was sold out.

I hate life

EinzingerIsGod 12-01-2006 06:50 PM

I have to try to get some tomorrow morning.

gocubs649 12-01-2006 06:52 PM

Ah yeah the one in Boston?

I might try and get tickets for that one...

Get them ASAP.

Oriah 12-04-2006 11:34 AM

This CD aint half bad. oh and Einzinger,The Office rules! :chug:

Txus 12-04-2006 01:35 PM

Hmm,m I've been listening to the album the past 4 days and I would throw it to the trash if it wasn't for Mike's fantastic work....the rest of the band is bland as hell :(

mutant! 12-04-2006 02:18 PM

Well, the thing is, that'd be stupid to do in either case. IMO, one should listen to the finished product, not the individual contribution of each member, aye?

Also, today at work I took a look at the cover booklet, and I realised I would kill (or at least seriously maim) to own even one of the vintage keyboards Chris plays... Hammond B3, Rhodes, Moog Voyager, Mellotron... zomw, Rhodes.

Txus 12-04-2006 02:23 PM

I was expecting another Make Yourself :(

That's why I don't like it that much.....I guess it's not THAT bad.

randomthought9 12-04-2006 03:33 PM

It's okay, though not their best. Here's where I think it ranks:

Make Yourself>Morning View>ACLOTM>SCIENCE>LG>Fungus Amongus

mutant! 12-04-2006 05:17 PM

I'm listening to the album through proper headphones for the first time. One thing I love is how the album is obviously well-produced (with all the little panning tricks and stuff one would expect from Mike et al), yet it retains a very raw feel. Awesomeness inc.

Sound Boy 12-04-2006 11:46 PM

yeah its pretty bad that you need good headphones to hear Kilmore though. he shines when the play live though. you can also hear alot more of Ben

enjoimx 12-05-2006 07:49 PM

tickets for the show near me (electric factory) sold out so damn fast i seriously dont even know whats going on. and now im sad because they arre raping people on ebay at areound 120 a ticket.

gocubs649 12-05-2006 07:51 PM

For the show I want to go to, some of them are 300+ a ticket.

Chrysostom 12-05-2006 08:28 PM

I officially love this album. Stand out tracks: Pendulous Threads, AKTSUO, Anna Molly, Dig, Love Hurts, Diamonds and Coal, Quicksand.

thats pretty much the whole album minus the Earth to bellas hahaha.

what do you guys think of "punch drunk" and "look alive"?? i think they should've kept them onthe album even though they wouldnt really fit to the theme.

gocubs649 12-05-2006 11:41 PM

I haven't been to get them :(

EinzingerIsGod 12-05-2006 11:54 PM

Haven't heard them either.

black guy 12-06-2006 06:30 PM

punch drunk I don't really care for. It's okay to have on in the background though.

but look alive is awesome. I like it more than most of the songs on the album.

EinzingerIsGod 12-06-2006 06:47 PM

I've been listening to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. all day today. That album is nearly 10 years old now and still holds up.

onetwo fricking three that album is imo amazing. its just crazy. thats when he really just decided to start using effects heavily and he just went nuts. no one can deny the crazy catchyness of that infamous ring modded out riff in Glass. i think that was one of their best albums, i dunno why but dirk was doing sick on bass too. i like all of them for the most part ( light grenades is still sinking in) but that album is really good.

but anywho where can i get these two tracks that everyone speaks of?

Sound Boy 12-06-2006 11:22 PM

hit me up on AIM, if im there i'll send.

i really liked his guitar work on Deep Inside and Summer Romance off the SCIENCE album...i like in DI around 2:34 in the last verse how he changs up the chords. its so smooth.

PS:two things i wish incubus would do:
1.make "light grenades" a radio single
2.Kilmore: go back to scratchin every now and then, brotha! let me know im listening to a band with a dJ
