they are a whole lot better...they have replace-able trems for Floyd Rose type trem.

Tuning is a lot easier and they don't take way from you guitar's tone (they use a type of metal that adds sustain so it equals to it being how it would sound with a stopbar)

Sph 12-31-2005 08:12 AM

Cool, I'll have to look into them when I get a decent guitar. Anyways, since this is the Slayer thread and all, what are their best albums? I've only heard Reign In Blood.

BLS_Infernus 12-31-2005 08:15 AM

South of Heaven is my favorite...the whole album just flows and it and each songs works great off each other

Sph 12-31-2005 08:17 AM

Is Reign In Blood really the best? Seems over-rated to me.

BLS_Infernus 12-31-2005 08:19 AM

I feel that way about it too...I only like Raining Blood, Angel of Death and Aggressive Perfector out of the whole album...Seasons in the Abyss was a much better thrash album then Reign in Blood

Sph 12-31-2005 08:21 AM

I'll be sure to check out some of their earlier stuff. Thanks:thumb:

Aaron_Of_Oz 12-31-2005 07:55 PM

oh my love for slayer is so strong. reign in blood is a ****ing kick *** album. does anyone know if they are still together?

BLS_Infernus 12-31-2005 08:22 PM

yes in fact they are back in the studio to finish up there album that they were about to put out. Rick Rubin won't be the producer for the rest of the album because it's going under Warner Bros rather that American this time. right now Slayer is looking at a list of producers to choice from

also Dave is back in the band for the album

It's really good, but Hell Awaits is my fav. album. The whole album is nothing but fast and intense thrash, with lyrics that rival that of black metal.

Ensameheten 01-01-2006 01:13 AM

Great band, still doing a whole lot damage after 20 years. "Reign In Blood" and "Hell Awaits" are timeless Metal masterpieces. Great band, still doing a whole lot damage after 20 years. "Reign In Blood" and "Hell Awaits" are timeless Metal masterpieces.

more like 25 years

lightningmetal666 01-01-2006 01:16 AM

Kinda funny, but I was listening to some Venom and then some stuff off of hell awaits, and I noticed way too many similarites. Anybody else noticed this?
I know Venom was a big influence but sheesh!

Venom probably had a big influence, along with all the punk Jeff was listening to, but I haven't heard enough Venom to recognize many similarities. I need to start listening to more Venom.

Man, I seriously can't wait till Slayer comes back to San Diego. You guys can bet I'll be at the very front of the stage once again, headbanging my head off.

ya i really noticed that too

FatalEnergy 01-02-2006 06:09 PM

Haven't posted in here for a while. Anyway, Slayer used to cover Witching Hour by Venom a lot, I believe it's on the Live Intrusion video as well.

NorseLaQuet 01-02-2006 06:21 PM

The Live intrusion is the only way i know to get that song.....unfourtuneatly, I love every album, except for Undisputed Attitude, i cant really get into it....

bigguy69 01-02-2006 07:51 PM

It took me a while to except undisputed attitude too but after i pulled it off the shelf and gave it another chance it wasnt so bad...i just didnt consider it a normal slayer record cause its mostly covers but i think its pretty good

Hard_Rocker_Revived 01-02-2006 07:57 PM

Raining Blood is an interesting song. I like it even though it doesn't even rhyme.

Bazarov 01-02-2006 09:01 PM

2000 posts. This is great.

NP: Slayer - Read Between The Lies

I need to hear this cover of Witching Hour.

NorseLaQuet 01-03-2006 08:33 PM
I need to hear this cover of Witching Hour.
yes, indeed you do,
so i gave undisputed attitude another try, and i like it, but its just not slayerish enough.....

metalguy13 01-05-2006 11:36 PM

\!!/

1.BLOODLINE
2.SOUTH OF HEAVEN
3.SPIRIT IN BLACK
4.WAR ENSEMBLE
5.ANGEL OF DEATH
6.RAINING BLOOD

If I ever here those songs in that order I might very well kill somebody.

Bazarov 01-05-2006 11:59 PM

Next time I see them, I'll be pissed if they don't play At Dawn They Sleep. When I saw them, they played nothing off of Hell Awaits.
I'm pretty sure once their new album is released, this thread will have quite a bit of activity for a while.

Apocalyptic Raids 01-06-2006 12:03 AM

I wouldn't hold your breath, Butcher.

They should open with Hell Awaits though.

Neiji 01-06-2006 01:25 AM

Is it just me or Read Between the Lies is a grossly under-rated song? So what was the first Slayer solo you learned on guitar? Mine was the 2nd solo to War Ensemble.

Bazarov 01-06-2006 01:27 AM

It hardly gets enough mention. It's my favorite song off of South of Heaven. King actually wrote really good lyrics and rythm for that song.

I'm currently working on the solos to The Antichrist. They're the only solos I've attempted to learn by Slayer as well.

pep 01-06-2006 02:44 PM

hey i saw a pic of kerry playing bagpipes on a live concert. in what song or why was he doing that?

Mein bass 01-06-2006 02:51 PM

YES!
A slayer thread!
\m/
One of my favorite bands.
You guys have good taste.

superflyjojo 01-06-2006 03:05 PM

I was wondering why Slayer never plays anything from Divine Intervention live? its a good album and i wouldn't mind hearing songs like sex, murder, art in there setlist.

Bazarov 01-06-2006 03:22 PM

No it's a photoshopped picture. Someone posted that bagpipes, then posted the original.

Yeah, it's a good album. I used to hate that album, but it has some good song like Dittohead or Serenity in Murder.
