another brick, money, eclipse
|
Is it released yet?
Yeah, I hate books, and books hate me...... But this might be an exception.....
You suck at being smrt. But yes the book is out. Check it out. I liked it. It was kind of long and boring at parts. Especially at the beginning when they are still college English kids, and at the end where he goes on and on about the last newer albums. I skipped some of it, but it was a good read. |

Another Brick?!? Point of naming those songs?? |
I just picked up The Pink Floyd and Syd Barret Story (DVD). It was pretty interesting, considering I didn't know too much about Syd Barret to begin with. I think I might check out some of the stuff involving Syd now. Has anyone else seen this DVD, and what did you think of it?
I have seen it. I like when that guy have those coloured lights and Floyd was just jamming to the flow of the lights. |
I have seen it. I like when that guy have those coloured lights and Floyd was just jamming to the flow of the lights.
True that. That's why I like the old Syd Floyd. So much improv and creativity. They never played a song the same way twice. They had to cut down the songs and the improv to make Pipers. Interstellar Overdrive live would be for like 20 minutes, and on the album it's like 10. |
I haven't read the Nick Mason biography, but I probably will. Right now I'm reading A Saucerful of Secrets: The Pink Floyd Odyssey.
|
I like Syd. Really creative guy. Too bad he burnt out.
|

Yes that was cool, especially what he did when using a Zippo lighter for a slide. Great stuff :thumb: |

|
Does anybody have the Pink Floyd single "Point Me At The Sky" ? I have it on a VHS Floyd Video Comp and i cant find a version on Bearshare that downloads.

Just listened to Meddle.
San Tropez is one hell of a song... |
Well, I'm just looking for some reading involving Pink Floyd. You think I should check that out instead?
Its very good so far, and I've heard the rest is great from people who have finished it. So I'd recommend it. |
Is there any Gilmour Biography?
|
I like Syd. Really creative guy. Too bad he burnt out.
I'm borrowing the 'Pink Floyd - The Barret Years' DvD, should be fun. |
did anyone else see the pink floyd programme on british television last night? it had interviews with the band now and looking back on the success of dark side of the moon. Previous to this programme pink floyd were a band i could never really get into but now i love them!
|
Darn it, I missed it.
|
well at first i didn't even know it was on as i was flicking through channels and up came the pink floyd album cover for dark side of the moon so i sat and watched and it was just the band discussing there fame, lyrics and albums, chord sequences to there songs etc. The guitarist's face has hardly changed at all, as is the bassists face.
|
The guitarist is awesome. I love him.
|
Geez, Waters has a big ****in nose.
|
Waters has grown into his nose over time. I saw a picture of him that was taken recently, and it looks fairly normal, whereas during the seventies, he looked like a friggen anteater or something.
Maybe about a month ago, we were talking about the bands that Pink Floyd had influenced, and somebody mentioned how Tool had put a part of Shine on you Crazy Diamond into one of their songs. Does anybody know/remember which Tool song it was? |

Awesome song. :thumb: And do you guys think that program about the Floyd could've been the DSOTM Classic Albums dvd? That sounds like what they showed on it. |
I heard about that tool and shine on thing, but i never listened to it. Is it compared to shine on I-V or VI-IX? If i get a chance ill listen to it.
I just finished learning shine on I-V, and its a hard *** song. Not as hard as i expected, but dam near close. I really have to start learning other songs then floyd...but, what the hell, i think ill learn comfortably numb next. Then Ill defintaly stop....depending on the circumstances |

Its one of the opening keyboard riffs, at about 1:25 in the Floyd version. |
Its at the end of The Grudge. I'll send you it if you'd like. Awesome song. :thumb:
I have Lateralus, but thanks. I listened to the Grudge right now, but it doesn't sound like Shine on..What part of Shine on is it? EDIT: Never mind, I didn't read your second post. :) |
What's everybody's favorite Pink Floyd song in here? Mine would have to be Fat Old Sun (from Atom Heart Mother)...
|
Comfortably Numb, Run Like Hell, and Time
|
Echoes
Welcome to the Machine Wish you Were Here |

EDIT: Never mind, I didn't read your second post. :)
Did you hear it? To clarify for anybody, here are the times that riff appears on each song. In I-V its at about 1:13 and in The Grudge its at about 7:48. |
Yes I did. It's very cool. I'm gonna see if I can sync it in Goldwave.
I'm glad to see that there's more than one Pink Floyd AND Tool fan. :thumb: As for my favorite songs, I'd say Breathe in the Air, Wish You Were Here, Hey You, and Comfortably Numb. I have more, but I bet we all do. |
