i agree with Oz...somebody get and post Buried...and someone said they had the full version of Bye Bye Love (alk3 version), who was it? i dont feel like finding it, my computer is way too slow
with yousendit...why do you have to put hxxp instead of http? anytime there is an http link it works for me... EDIT:
OK cheers. Is that any good? Apart form Warbrain?
yeah, it's better than a lot of compilation CDs in my opinion...its got a re-recorded version of an Offspring song (Baghdad...used to be Terhan), the NOFX song isnt on any other CDs its really cool, i'm almost positive Jello Biafra sings one of the songs on there...it sounds a lot like him at least when my friend plays his copy in the car on the way to school...i havent looked at who all is on it in a while or listened to my copy...but if you like the bands on there then you will like most of it...plus, its about half as much as a regular CD i dont know how much that is in europe, but in the US its $7 when a full length CD is from $13-$19 |
Ok cheers alot. Ill check it out.

Shall I name my kid Derek?
|
Shall I name my kid Derek?
Yes. Yes You Should. I may adopt the surname Andriano... |
poprocks&coke...make sure he starts drums when he's like 2 so he can be as good as derek grant when hes about 15 ;) and an electric drumset so he doesnt go deaf!
did u guys know derek started recording when he was 16? kinda pisses me off, im 16 and havent even got a decent band together out of trying for the 4 years ive been drumming.. |
Hey I didn't get a good band togather until just recently and i've been playing guitar for 8 yrs and have been playing drums for like 10.
|
well my only band that ever played in front of people had 2 bass players, no official singer (much less lyrics)...a friend of the guy who recruited me improvises lyrics for his band so he sang for us that was cool...and our guitarist was just getting into being straight edge after cleaning up on all the stuff he had been doing before...we had one pracitce with a show already scheduled (the old drummer bailed, and i had never heard these guys and i only knew one of them), me and the guitarist both got grounded pretty quickly after first practice and i got off restriction the day before our gig...we got kicked off stage after 3 songs and im still trying to decide if it was cause we sucked too bad and nobody liked us, or if they told the truth (it WAS at a church) and we just refused to play quieter
thats why this band is gonna take time to learn stuff before we schedule any shows or anything im kind of in charge of this band so i'll know when we're ready |
Shall I name my kid Derek?
No, you should name him something different, just so as you don't go along with prevailing opinion. Call it Saddam... no kid is called that. God damn, I love taking different views from everyone else. And what if it's a girl? :p |

sh!tty. but really fun anyway. and im glad i had the experience man! cause now im not scared to go on stage at all with a GOOD band, because now i know there is nothing worse than what i had. and these guys were into hardcore/straight edge and no covers at all, needless to say i stuck to my promise of playing the upcoming gig with them, but i quit the band immediately afterward...this new one will have a trio cover or 2 and will hopefully be better than all the other bands who did trio covers that ive heard |
Oooh. What covers?
I demand recordings. Mainly as I love hearing covers of 'big band' songs. Also nobody on here ever gave a crap about hearing my band's songs from our first gig, so I try to make up for it by listening to other people's stuff. |
we havent decided yet...but our singer is the only guy who isnt big into the trio...me and the keyboardist/violinist/syth guy/whatever else he will be doing for us/probably recording guy are HUGE into alk3...he'd probably be a member of mx if he had a computer that wasnt crap...when we get our stuff together we'll get it recorded though
|
anybody have the re-release of crimson yet?
|
I downloaded it. It's pretty good. Some songs are booooring though. Others, I think that they should've used instead of the ones they used now.
Dan's voice is so damn SEXY in Mercy Me. |
god damn, mx deleted all of my subscriptions AGAIN...what the hell? why does it do that?
|
So, I learned Sadie, and I'm starting to learn the intro to Time to Waste on piano. Fun. I must have listened to Sadie 50 times this week.

Anyone know any Alk3 songs with Glenn Porter on drums?
I know he was in the original line-up, but i'm not sure how long he was there before being replaced with Derek. |
And what if it's a girl?
:p
Sadie, obviously. Lol. Actually, I'm probably going to call my son Frankenstein, then he can be called Frank for short. :D |
I reserve the right to call my child "Warbrain" whether male or female.
|
Warbrain is such a good song. |
God, i'm not as impressed with the Crimson deluxe verison as a thought i'd be.
: / |
i like it, but it doesn't seem as good as it could be
|
I really wish Warbrain was on Crimson, I might have enjoyed it a lot more then. I'm also so glad I got to hear it live, twas awesome!
|
I think they played it at the Bristol show, but I was concentrating too much on not passing out.
Lol. |
Anyone know any Alk3 songs with Glenn Porter on drums?
I know he was in the original line-up, but i'm not sure how long he was there before being replaced with Derek.
anything from the CDs "Maybe I'll Catch Fire" "Goddamnit" and "S/T" the self titled has a cassette tape on the cover...then "From Here To Infirmary" had Mike Felumlee of the Smoking Popes on drums...then he left and they got several guys to play with them live...i think Atom Willard from The Offspring played with them for a little bit, but never recorded with them...then they did "Good Mourning" and "Crimson" along with i think both the splits with Derek Grant and they've had him since then... Glenn's style is more raw sounding to me...he's really quick and amazingly talented, but nothing is really consistant on drums...he probably just wrote by ear rather than actually writting his stuff down and improvised a bit during recording...Felumlee and Grant are more structured drummers i guess is the best way to put it...they have a consistant beat and the only improvisation is maybe in the fills...they easily could have written those too though as far as i know, nobody knows what happened to Glenn after he left the trio...and i personally dont know where he came from either...which is surprising cause he's a beast on drums |

Any recommendations? |
Anything really. Both albums are brilliant.
I strongly suggest Clavicle and My little needle, though. Oh and Radio, You've got so far to go, and Sleepyhead. |
