Please recomend me a good tool album
QUIET MAN! This is the time for OMG!!!!111!!!one!!!! style posts. Its news about tool at last!

.....but seriously though, Aenima, Lateralus, Undertow, Opiate. Decide from that order. Arguable best to the least essential album, rthough people debate that order

Lets just say 18 minutes is the part that makes me drool the most. And the fact Adam quotes 'we're not finished yet"

Seriously guys, you wanted news, Otherside has found it (seconds before me might I add :D)
Yah I would have said more, except I have to go cram for mid-terms >.>
Wish me luck :p

Adam Jones is GOD 12-14-2004 04:48 PM

Good luck.

Thats a good frame of mind to go into an exam situation though :D
Taken from the official Tool website:

"After selecting some samples on the “Deep Violet” electronic drums and adjusting parameters, etc., the band launched into a new song that, at least in my mind, pretty much summed things up about the direction the new record was headed musically. To say that they have taken it up a notch would be an understatement. Several notches, perhaps, might better describe it. This wasn’t just the musical equivalent of terra incognita – this was something borderline Zothyrian, Daedalian in complexity (yet, VERY heavy) with its combination of odd time signatures, dynamics and intricacy of guitar work that was ‘synchronized’ in sections to create those “chromatic tortures” we all love so much. Danny was doing what he does best (better than ever, I might add), and the acoustic drums were combined with lots of electronic samples of dissonant clocks, warped timpani, eruptions of noise and explosions of what sounded like bizarre artillery."

I read it. I'm excited. LK is my new favorite song.

Adam Jones is GOD 12-14-2004 05:16 PM
Well...after reading all of that it certainly sounds like everyone can look forward to a new album. It'll have to be quite phenomenally good even to meet expectations, but they may just do it.
I trust Blair's judgement with anything tool related. This guy is the unofficial 5th member, and everything he has said about tool has made sense or come true so far. Plus if even Danny is saying its the best he's ever worked on, thats an even better sign.

Now what would be great as a christmas present from Tool is a snippet for the new songs. :thumb:

deadohiosky9 12-14-2004 06:46 PM

I just read that stuff at toolband. I'm excited to hear this new album. It would be awesome if Tool would put like a clip of some new stuff.

jamesclelland 12-15-2004 12:50 PM

I'm wondering why they haven't set an offical release date. Well I have an idea, but I would still to know so I could put a hold on a copy. You know it's gonna sell real ******* fast.

Dancin' Man 12-15-2004 12:58 PM

I'm going to have to start reading the updates more regularly if I want to be able to dibs the new Tool review. It's a race. A race.

I have already dibsed it.

It doesn't necessarily count, since it's so far in advance, but I was the first to actually 'call' it

Don't take it away from me you bastard

C'mon guys, we gotta let JoZ have it, in condolence of being robbed for the Justin FA in the Bass Forum.

Besides, since the new CD reviews site is appearing nesxt year, multiple reviews are going to be avalialbe. So we can all show the rest of the forum how a review should be done

I appreciate it

I don't know how many times these songs have been discussed cause i just joined and didn't feel like reading 80 pages but from what ive heard maynard was molested by his dad when he was a kid so i think thats what stinkfist and bottom are all about. i also don't think that opiate is really talking **** about christ, just those who follow blindly and don't take time to question or anything. now eulogy on the other hand is what i think to be a eulogy to christ (obviously).but im sure these songs have been discussed a million times already. but is there any news on the new album? I heard its supposed to be a lot heavier.

Adam Jones is GOD 12-16-2004 01:11 PM

Eulogy, 46&2 and Stinkfist seem to have the most debate in this thread for their meanings. I counted at least 3 intelligent descriptions for each one at some point.

The others are eithe self explaniatary, or we all agree on to this point

jamesclelland 12-16-2004 02:09 PM

i just got tickets to the melvins, and jello biafra w/ adam jones. are these shows good? does adam play a lot or just come out for a song or two?

Its really sad tapeworm never materialized, i really wanted to hear what Maynard and Trent did together.

jamesclelland 12-16-2004 04:45 PM

have you heard the apc cover of vacant? good, good stuff.

I think Fast Finges has some Tapeworm stuff that APC covered around. And of course, Vacant on eMOTIVE is the better part of that album

On toolband.com, in the news section, theres a sub-section caller 15 minutes. Anyone knows whats the purpose of this sub-section?

x the patient x6 12-16-2004 09:27 PM

i dont really know, i tried hitting TAB to see if there were some hidden links like on that meat thing, but there werent, so, i am still confused

however, if you want a confusing band site, the Radiohead one is by far the most confusing...ok later

Street Spirit (Fade Out) 12-16-2004 09:34 PM

Yeah...I don't get Radioheads...

It shows a picture of someone/something each time yes? These are random people half the time, and buy putting them up on tool's website, they get their 15 minutes of fame. Hence 15 minutes.

Least i think thats what it is

that seems to first guess and basic for Tool...which is even more confusing

Adam Jones is GOD 12-17-2004 11:54 AM

remeber, the site is run by Blair. he isnt that big on hiding/double meanings, etc. however, there are still hidden elements in the site to keep the tool spirit alive
