I don't like them because the wings lost to em and i'm from Detroit, but other than that i don't mind them.
Well I don't like Detroit b/c two years in a row you've made me lose money due to premature exits in the playoffs. :D

But back to classic rock...

Some friends of mine and I were discussing what Jimi Hendrix would be doing these days had he not choked on his own vomit.

My opinion was he'd have done some psychedelic rock/electronic stuff in the 80's, but totally gone back to straight blues in the 90's.

May be a stupid discussion, but what do you think?
Some friends of mine and I were discussing what Jimi Hendrix would be doing these days had he not choked on his own vomit.
He'd be dead. Can you actually imagine someone with a death wish like him stop using drugs?

Paranoidd 07-21-2004 11:10 PM

Hrmm.

/me tries to think of famous junkies who aren't dead.

/me keeps thinking.

It's possible he could have lived...Keith Richards is still alive.

RockAndRoll 07-21-2004 11:11 PM

It's possible, but hey it didn't happen. I always wonder what he would do next, but i wonder more about the doors than anyone else.

FrailandBedazzled1979 07-21-2004 11:12 PM

^^^

very true lol.

Ive been listening to nothing but Jethro Tull for about 3 days now, what albums do you all like by them? i prefer their folky tunes like off of "songs from the wood" "heavy horses" and "stormwatch"....also "a minstrel in the gallery", i have all their albums and enjoy each one in a differnet way just the 70's were really the highlight for them including "stand up" and "warchild". what are your opinions on the band and songs?

Bass+Fingers+Amp=Groove 07-21-2004 11:21 PM

Jimi Hendrix went to my highschool :amaze:

Badmoon 07-21-2004 11:22 PM

^They're incredibly unique. But, I only have Aqualungand I love that. So, I'll try to check out the other albums :)

VoodooChild 07-22-2004 12:02 AM

Hey everybody, it's the glorius return of me. YAY!!! I don't know if you noticed but I've been gone for about 2-3 weeks because of my "awesome" computrer which crashed. **** thing took a ****ing century to fix. ANyway thought, I'm back and let's let the good times roll. Oh, moon I see you reviewd Undermind. I bought the album finaly but I guess it's too late now :upset: Well, I gotta go catch up on some posting.

I'll see you around the bend...

myself, along with many other diehard Tull fans, aggree that "aqualung" is a misleding album. everyone gets it and its not the best description of the bands sound. Even Ian's solo albums (secret language or birds and rupi's dance) are alot better! hehe. Its thier biggest hit album, but we all know that dosent mean its their greatest. if you got any Tull ?'s lemme know!!

VoodooChild 07-22-2004 12:57 AM

I got Benefit, This Was, Aqualung, and Thick As A Brick. In my book they all get a 5/5. I don't think I'm really a die-hard fan but I still like Tull a lot. I agree that Aqualung doesnt really show the true side of the band. IMO it's stil good though. My favorite album is This Was. I think it shows the band at it's best working with the blues. Mick Abrahams does an awesome job playing guitar and writing and that gives me another reason to love this album. Well, that's my $.02

RockAndRoll 07-22-2004 09:17 AM

I only own Aqualung but I've heard War child, Thick as a brick and a few songs from other albums. They're an amazing band. (yay voodoo's back)

Missouri_Kid 07-22-2004 09:52 AM

Classic rock is my favorite genre of rock. My favorite bands of that genre are The Doobie Brothers, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Queen, Lynyrd Skynyrd(the classic rock radio station in St. Louis calls them classic rock, so thats why I included them), Jimi Hendrix, Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band, The Beatles, The Eagles, the list could go on for hours so I'll stop here.

Badmoon 07-22-2004 10:10 AM

Welcome back Voodoo

Sorry about the review, but it was either you or I do it, or some other unkown n00b would have. Cause I saw discussion on it.

Vili 07-22-2004 10:36 AM

The kids in my school don't seem to like Classic Rock :upset:
In my class the boys listen to rap or Children of Bodom :P

Meh favorite Classic Rock bands in no particular order:

AC/DC
Guns N' Roses
Led Zeppelin
Queen

I'm convinced that Keith Richards was dead 20 years ago and that somebody is just animating his corpse.

he looks dead.

Paranoidd 07-22-2004 11:43 AM

The only things left after world war three will be lawyers, cockroaches, and Keith Richards.

Paranoidd 07-22-2004 02:21 PM

Goddo! Holy smokes...

He played a bar not five minutes from my house last year...but I had to work.

Edgar Winter should be cool, but I prefer Johnny Winter (his brother) he had some nice bluesy stuff.

Lots of Canadians there :D

Coniston 07-22-2004 03:54 PM

Yes, classic rock is becoming more popular anongst teenagers these days. Not all of them but at least a minority of us are classic rockers. Like I'm 15 and there's nothing else I listen to. Teenagers these days are not familiar with one of the greatest rock and rool guitarists ever though, Jeff Beck.

Badmoon 07-22-2004 07:47 PM

I feel like some "Statesboro Blues" ;).

BludgeonySteve 07-22-2004 08:01 PM

*pretends he knows what that is*

:)

Oldschoolfreak 07-22-2004 09:20 PM

The best bands are all old shcool/classic rock. There isn't a band out there that is half as good as the Clash or the Ramones or AC/DC (My favorites) well, AC/DC is still making records and touring long live Angus! But seriously people in my shcool don't even know who Joe Sturmmer is, I know shocking huh. Yeah, the all watch the rock 'n' roll murderer TV channel (aka MTV). There are awesome bands out there right now that aren't on MTV. Like the Dropkick Murphys. I think we should all start a revolution and kill MTV.

BludgeonySteve 07-22-2004 10:40 PM
I think we should all start a revolution and kill MTV.
Already underway. Just sit tight my friend :)

I agree with everything you said exept for the clash and the ramones being good thing. They were early punk. Early punk may be better than recent punk but it's still punk right? Ahh.

Don't tell me you don't know that song.

Allman Brothers live at Fillmore East track #1.

Paranoidd 07-22-2004 11:34 PM

Whipping Post on the second disc is really good too :D

RockAndRoll 07-22-2004 11:44 PM

Man tonight was awesome, Randy Bachman really got everybody going! and in the middle of hey you they tied it in with a few other songs including honky tonk woman and wild thing, it was done amazingly. I had a great spot too, right at the front by the stage, dead center. It started raining (pretty hard) during lighthouse's set but it just helped everyone loosen up although the roadies were busy some of the equipment near the edge of the stage didn't get soaked.

This one lady was insane though she was right at the front, sitting down the whole time and she was cranky and pissing off at everyone. When one of the balls that were flying around came to her she just held on to it and was being insanely bitchy about it. Meh, I had an awesome time.

VoodooChild 07-22-2004 11:54 PM

Since we're talking about the Bros... I bought Shades of Two Worlds a month or two ago and...... THAT is where it's at! "Come On In My Kitchen", "Kind of Bird", and "Nobody Knows" are amazing songs. Strongly recomended and don't let the release date (1991) fool you. They still show tons of skill like they did in the early-mid 70's. NOW GO AND BUY THE FUDGIN' ALBUM.

YOU JERKASORUS!!!!

Seriously, go buy it...

Sorry for the spam, today I'm wild.
