My vox are like the original vocalists you faggot

phil_ares 01-05-2010 04:54 PM

are they ****

Apoc 01-05-2010 04:56 PM

don't mind sam carter's vocals, but they're not the best. his scream is kind of one-dimensional, but at least it fits the music.

their vocalist on nightmares was more or less one-dimensional too... and his vocals weren't bad. I liked how slow and patient he was sometimes.

beans 01-05-2010 06:12 PM

both of the vocalists are pretty good

alytee123 01-05-2010 06:29 PM

The vocals on Hollow Crown get really boring really quickly.

RetiredAt21 01-05-2010 07:09 PM

Architects are boring in general, I don't understand all of the fuss over them.

2muchket! 01-05-2010 07:10 PM

Idk I think you'd atleast enjoy their first album due to the botch style riffing they have.

Sam's vocals on Ruin, and live, aren't very one dimensional at all.

I think the one dimensional-ness of what he does now is something that turned me off to the new stuff.

2muchket! 01-05-2010 07:26 PM

He's fantastic live, no doubt.

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 07:26 PM

He's up there with Anthony Gunnells, Chris Fox, and Jeff Moreira in my book.
Architects are boring in general
I disagree, but I have a hard-on for extremely tweedly guitars backed with really tight drumming.

Yeah Nightmares is good, Ruin and Hollow Crown only have a handfull of stuff I can take, then it just gets boring.

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:02 PM

Ruin has like two boring songs, but overall it's bossssss.

beans 01-05-2010 08:26 PM

what songs are boring?

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:29 PM

You'll Find Safety and Always.

beans 01-05-2010 08:29 PM

ill agree on you'll find safety but always rips dude

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:32 PM

I don't like that song IDK.

Xplisit 01-05-2010 08:33 PM

ruin is the only album of theirs i havent listened to

i think im happy with what ive heard

its not like their best material/song is on Ruin

beans 01-05-2010 08:33 PM

you need to hear nightmares tbh

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:34 PM

Buried At Sea and Heartless are their best songs imo.

Xplisit 01-05-2010 08:35 PM
you need to hear nightmares tbh
huh? ive heard it and its my fav of theirs

beans 01-05-2010 08:35 PM

the evil riff at the end of buried at sea pwns every time
huh? ive heard it and its my fav of theirs
sorry i misread your post

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:36 PM

Yeah, that riff (such a simple description but I know exactly what you mean) is ****ing awesome.

Also, seriously, Sam's vocals on Ruin are so much more ridiculous than the Dead Swans split and Hollow Crown.

Plus I love the sludgy parts and post-metal riffs on Ruin.

hxc trust me bru

Xplisit 01-05-2010 08:37 PM

sounds like hes hurting himself at times on Hollow Crown

beans 01-05-2010 08:38 PM
Yeah, that riff (such a simple description but I know exactly what you mean) is ****ing awesome.
ef yeah, fun song to play yourself as well
lots of odd timed riffs

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:39 PM

Seriously, when the video for Buried At Sea came out, I was like, wait, this is Architects?! WHAT?! They got RIDICULOUS... they already WERE ridiculous.

Also, I'm not nearly a good enough guitarist to play anything they play lol.

I love screaming along with Ruin though, everything fits within my range, even his clean singing. :D

beans 01-05-2010 08:41 PM

i have yet to try doing vocals to it, i guess i just enjoy listening to his to try and put mine over it

beer and risk, peace

witchxrapist 01-05-2010 08:42 PM

I just like singing along with things lol. In no way do I think I'm anywhere near as good as Sam at that type of vox, though I do draw a lot of influence from him.

/jealous of beer and risk

beans 01-05-2010 11:18 PM

it was fun, even though i got annihilated

xMalcolmXx 01-05-2010 11:40 PM

you obviously didn't get australia

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 12:22 AM

Australia is nothing, Europe is the first place to go for son.

Apoc 01-06-2010 01:22 AM
Plus I love the sludgy parts and post-metal riffs on Ruin.
How can you say that and claim to not like Always? That and Heartless have their two best post-influenced moments

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 01:23 AM

Because Always is boring, idk.

Pete 01-06-2010 01:23 AM

pg.1337

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 01:25 AM

lollerz

Apoc 01-06-2010 01:33 AM

just sayin.

and yeah Sam's vocals on Ruin are definitely ballin.

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 01:36 AM

Yeah, dude's got skills.

Apoc 01-06-2010 01:37 AM

it's an effin shame people compare him to Ollie.

witchxrapist 01-06-2010 01:39 AM

IDK, Oli's hardcore vocals sound like a weaker version of Sam's higher hardcore vocals.

But Oli's a ****ing good vocalist himself, tbh. Not hardcore style, but his shrieks, his gutturals, and his rasp mid range are ****ing POWERFUL.

Nepenthe 01-06-2010 01:40 AM

mappy its nigh time we just give up trying to defend count your blessings

Apoc 01-06-2010 01:41 AM

powerful's one thing, and he has that in spades - I just don't like the feel, the aesthetic of the sound. Whereas Sam maintains a balance between power and appeal.

Some of the vocals on Suicide Season are just poor
