The reason I ask is because I've never seen any British comedies (except The Office, which is pretty good) and I don't think many other Americans have (you lived in Europe, so you would know), so what it boils down to is us Americans loudly shouting about how great our sitcoms are, while all the British users loudly shout about how great theirs are, and that's not very fun.
well that is not necessarily so. For example, PBS plays quite a few britcoms, and with digital cable becoming more popular in the in the US daily, it makes BBC america more available to the masses, its just that most of them cant be arsed to watch it. I mean BBC america plays blackadder for example about 4 or 5 episodes daily, father ted and im alan partridge on saturdays, and comedy central used to even air black books.

jpj 08-07-2005 10:30 PM

I've never seen any of those shows on BBC America :( I have seen Red Dwarf on PBS though.
Isnt Office Space based of some British citcom?
Could be based on The Office, but I don't know.

And how many people here watch PBS or BBC America on a regular basis?

father ted is 2:30 PM EST saturdays, Im alan partridge is saturday nights around 10 or 11 i forget (alan partridge is one of the funniest characters ever created by the way), Blackadder seems to be on whenever footballers wives isnt (which is a terrible show, ignore footballers wives at all costs, so the brits can make crap too), and if you like father ted at all, the guy who plays father dougal, ardal o'hanlon, plays in another comedy, My Hero, which is 2:40 each weekday on bbc amerca, not as good as father ted, but still better than anything else on at 2:40 in the afternoon.

Because Im almost positive at the beginning it says "based on 'the office' or something like that". Maybe its Dilbert comics im not sure.

The only citcom I have seen on BBC America is Monty Pythons flying circus. Thats always on. Its pretty funny too, I love John Cleese.

thats why i said most cant be arsed

jpj 08-07-2005 10:37 PM

Yea, they had a Monty Python marathon awhile ago. People with digital cable can order it for free, so you can watch Monty Python all the time

Illmatic 08-07-2005 10:40 PM

Monty Python is a little too "absurd" for me.

I do believe it was based off a comic about the character Milton in the movie from my understanding.

Correct me if I am wrong on this one.

Oh, I remember seeing an animated thing on TV with Milton. For some reason, I think it was on SNL's TV Funhouse, hmm.

Thats it! Thanks that was killing me.

Drugstep 08-07-2005 10:51 PM

It's based on an SNL skit, which is a cartoon centering on Milton.

Office Space is great, and I believe they're making a sequel.

Good evening, MX.

Endless Obsession 08-07-2005 10:54 PM

Does anyone know why BlackInk left MX?
Monty Python is a little too "absurd" for me.
sure it may be absurd, but so much was influenced by it that its actualyl quite unbelievable, that is comedic genius right there.

Illmatic 08-07-2005 11:07 PM

I never said it was bad, I just said it wasn't for me.

NJMetalMeister 08-07-2005 11:09 PM
I never said it was bad, I just said it wasn't for me.
fair enough, i do know people who claim it is a terrible show, so i can be defensive to an extent. It would be just like someone saying that they honestly felt that dream theater were terrible at their instruments, while many people do not like them, and that is perfectly acceptable, only an ignorant smeghead would say there was nothing to it at all.

Drugstep 08-07-2005 11:11 PM

I'm not into movies anyway, but I agree with Ray. Monty Python is too absurd for me.

With humans? You're rather funny.

Drugstep 08-07-2005 11:20 PM

lolz. Correct thoughts.

I associate with humans, I spend time with them. I still don't like them.

I like them more than before.

RCA 08-07-2005 11:22 PM

I only associate with humans when I assimilate them to display emotion.

Drugstep 08-07-2005 11:24 PM

I don't associate with humans much. Save for talking to a friend every two weeks.

Posting over 20 times a day here doesn't count.

RCA 08-07-2005 11:25 PM

You're on the right track. Associating with humans will lead to quick and painful demise.

Drugstep 08-07-2005 11:27 PM

I know that all too well.

I gave some people my trust a while back and everything went to hell, and the whole time since I've been wondering why I didn't just stay away from people.

Evan Part 2. was the only human I needed associate with in that dismal period of time.

Must we talk about it?

Sorry. I kid.

I like associating with people, but there are times when I really wish I hadn't, and I don't do it much.

Ray: That short quote I put up was ironic for two reasons...

1. It will affect their payment if they are of Aboriginal or Islander descent (i.e. Black) since they get payed more.

2. The fact they don't have to answer the question makes it seem like being black is a disease, since you have the option of not answering the questions about your health later on.
