srt-4 01-20-2007 01:18 AM

i just watched this video from iraq. haven't seen anything like it before. it shows the planning of an operation and part of the fighting from an insurgent point of view and the results from a US point of view. if anybody is interested: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=60fd7b9937&c=1. just a warning, its kind of graphic.

Never read perks.

Slaughter-House 5 is one of my favorite books.

Every morning on my walk to school I hear 2 people fighting from this second story apartment, above some daycare center. I guess last night a kid that lives there stabbed his mom and pushed her out of the window. Mad ghetto. This is only about 2 blocks from where the shooting happened, too.

What fucking part of Pittsburgh do you live, a transplanted part of Bedford? I always thought Pittsburgh was nice!

cobert 01-20-2007 09:45 AM

I live in a bad place just across the allegheny river (you can see the skyline in the distance if you stood on my roof). Some parts of pittsburgh are really nice, but in general, Pittsburgh is mad dirty.

Since I have a gut feeling that democrats will win the 08 presidential election, that means theres a chance the next president will be either a woman or black.

whiteminority 01-20-2007 09:52 AM

My bet is on Barrack Obama.

Matt? 01-20-2007 09:57 AM

my bet is on democratic popular consensus

Prolly lolol ilu2

It kind of sucks that I turn 18 in december and Ill miss this election by just under a month.

Happy birthday Martin, turning the big one-two today.

CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHY AXIS AND ALLIES RULES SO MUCH?

cbmartinez 01-20-2007 12:15 PM

Why would you not vote for Hilary? Cause she's woman LOL?

She's a very smart woman, surely a little opinionated, but she is better than any Republican nominee, including Guiliani. If a Republican wins in 08, this country is screwed.

Plus, she's married to one of the best presidents in US history. You know he'll be having his say in everything which mean good news.

RCVA 01-20-2007 12:21 PM

What's the difference between the democrats and the republicans in terms of policies and attitudes?

whiteminority 01-20-2007 12:22 PM

No because she is a little far left for me, and she is very shifty not sticking to what she says.

Chris I told you that I wouldn't vote for a Republican on the penalty of you killing me, so don't worry.

I'd go for Obama.

cbmartinez 01-20-2007 12:25 PM

Yeah, well as much as elated as I'd be to see Obama win the nomination, I doubt he's going to. Hilary's got a lot of pull and everyone is saying Obama is too inexperienced. A Clinton/Obama ticket would be amazing though.

whiteminority 01-20-2007 12:26 PM
What's the difference between the democrats and the republicans in terms of policies and attitudes?
Republicans are generally fiscal conservatives and unfortunately lately a bunch of bible humping social ultra-conservatives. At their best, they are akin Abraham Lincoln or Eisenhower, their worst they are like either of the Bush's.

Democrats are generally liberal in fiscal and social policy. At their best they can be like FDR and Clinton. At their worst, they are like Strom Thurmond (sp?).

Fuck partisan politics though.

whiteminority 01-20-2007 12:28 PM

Clinton is seen by most people in the south as an ultra-liberal power hungry dyke, and the fact that she is a woman will play significantly against her regardless of policy. A black President this country is definitely ready for but I'm not sure about a woman.

cbmartinez 01-20-2007 12:30 PM
What's the difference between the democrats and the republicans in terms of policies and attitudes?
Republicans traditionally stand for reducing the size of government, conservative fiscal policy (which includes supply side economics), aggressive foreign policy, states' rights, and conservative social policies (a return to morally driven standards of the mid 20th century) to name a few.

Democratics traditionally stand for bigger budgets (you've probably heard the term liberal spending) for entitlement programs such as Social Security and Welfare, a lesser focus on foreign policy and positive social change.

The parties have changed a lot, especially over the last few years. Clinton worked to reduce the budget and Bush spends millions of dollars on domestic spying programs.

Also, is your user title in reference to Less Than Zero?

RCVA 01-20-2007 12:46 PM

It's End Of A Year.

Oh right. The democrats seem to be more similar to how things are in Britain at the moment.

We have 3 main parties but the liberal democrats never get enough votes so it's mainly between the conservatives and new labour.

Labour has been in for 10 years and that probably isn't gonna change. They spend shitloads of public services but they don't seem to be using the money very well. Conservatives get kinda seen as more right wing, tougher on immigration and try to cut down taxes. Stereotype is really that conservatives are for upper and upper middle classes whereas labour is for middle to working class.

whiteminority 01-20-2007 01:20 PM

In retrospect Reagan could of been far worse.

But I support that edit.
