can we set aside like two seconds to actually decide on this thread title changing idea? stop arguing about what defnies a n00b and what doesn't. acdcrockr, please leave the thread for about ten minutes, the adults need to talk.
*Most people here like jam rock.
**Badmoon brings it up enough that the conversation in the thread wouldn't really change much.
***Jam rock has ties with classic rock. The dead and the allmans are a bit of both.

Yup yup.

ANGUS YOUNG13 01-17-2005 10:59 PM

yeh foreignor is very talented but not as popular i have no idea why but there are alot of very talented bands that arent very respected

BillCosby 01-17-2005 10:59 PM

EDIT: Entering paradox territory!

ANGUS YOUNG13 01-17-2005 11:00 PM

does anybody hear listen to KLOS 95.5?

BillCosby 01-17-2005 11:13 PM
does anybody hear listen to KLOS 95.5?
Yes. But I think that's a Southern California only thing

BludgeonySteve 01-17-2005 11:15 PM

Anyways, you guys duke it out over the issue and make a decision. I have an exam tomorrow and need sleep.

BillCosby 01-17-2005 11:17 PM

I don't think the name change is really neccessary. I mean most people would consider most Jam bands under the Classic Rock category anyway.

ANGUS YOUNG13 01-17-2005 11:22 PM

what happend to geno michilini he was cool but maybe he quit does anybody know

BillCosby 01-17-2005 11:24 PM
what happend to geno michilini he was cool but maybe he quit does anybody know
I dunno, I really only listen to Mark & Brian now. I don't really listen to the radio besides in the morning.

ANGUS YOUNG13 01-17-2005 11:34 PM

yeh me too mark and brian are hilarious i like how they do the list of every thing movies, songs, shows great stuff

the.walrus.was.paul 01-18-2005 05:28 AM

yea man, classic rock kicks ***. i began with led zeppelin, then beatles, hendrix, clapton, and whole lotta other bands.

Yppolitia 01-18-2005 05:30 AM

I started with Metallica, if u class them, as classic, the beatles, hendrix, led zepplin, the who and so on

ArcLite 01-18-2005 05:31 AM

Who likes Styx and REO? Two of my guilty pleasure bands but I can't help it, my dad got me into them. I have to say Styx is probably the best drunk sing-along band there is.

possessednomad 01-18-2005 05:36 AM

I listen to led zep, Van Halen, and then a load of later bands that spawned - GN'R, etc. Bon Jovi are great, too, and also Lynyrd Skynyrd.

possessednomad 01-18-2005 05:40 AM

Oh,and also clapton, and also all of the great bluesers, like B.B. I like mostly bands that i wasn't even alive when they were around - I'm not all that old and guitar music of any greatly skilled calibre as well as blues has really taken a downer since oasis faded from making great new albums. I love the are of the great guitar solo - Maiden and the pretenders and especially Jeff Healet -men who really seemed to share my passion years before i was born, in most of my musical tastes cases.

Yppolitia 01-18-2005 05:43 AM

Ohh yeh, van halen too, Eddie was an inspiration for me to play the guitar :thumb:

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 01-18-2005 07:18 AM

I feel this thread is getting drowned out with n00bs.

As for the thread naming desision leave it.
I listen to led zep, Van Halen, and then a load of later bands that spawned - GN'R, etc. Bon Jovi are great, too, and also Lynyrd Skynyrd.
actually, Lynyrd Skynyrd came before Van Halen.

I don't think the thread title will make a difference...since this thread is big enough most people understand what goes on in it. But if a mod really wants to, he can change it. It will entitle us to more nonspam conversation technically, so it's not a bad thing.

I say we just CHANGE IT so we can move on with our lives.

there are a lot of newer posters in this thread lately.

****We'd get a bunch of other cool Jam Band Thread (Other music) regulars coming here.

I just came home from school :D.

Who Deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

I set up a website (and no, this isn't spam - it's just that I don't want to copy all the names from the website to this forum) at:
http://www.rateitall.com/topic.aspx?TopicID=2529&show=all
What artist or group deserves to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but for whatever reason is not?
An artist is only eligible if their first release was at least 25 years ago.
There's a lot of odd entries (people have emailed requests). Did I miss anyone?
If you want to see who is in the R&R HoF, you can go here:

thickasabrick 01-18-2005 10:42 AM

hey badmoon i haven't spent much time in the jam band thread, only a couple posts i think. if we changed our thread to include jam bands, would the Jam Band thread in Other Music cease to exist? or would it be a clash of Jam Band threads?

i dont mind the idea of changing the title, but if the Jam Band thread in Other Music gets closed or something, i will feel bad.

edit- ok so apparently i have never posted in the Jam Band thread, but all the same...i read through it quite often.

Badmoon 01-18-2005 11:02 AM

They're different forums. Plus, that thread never stays alive. You don't see people complaing that there is a forced listening thread in every board, do you?

Thanks for that/ I had to vote for Rusg on account of they are much better than Lynryd Skynryd.

I just posted a review on...

Jerry Garcia Band - Cats Under the Stars

Check it out, though I am not proud of the review :(

magicbus 01-18-2005 02:20 PM

If changing the thread title will bring more "smart" people in here (as opposed to n00bs) lets do it.

I'm glad to see the love for The Last Waltz being passed on. (In response to Creedance)

Bill Cosby, good to see you have stars, I haven't been able to rep you in a while cause I need to spread it around.

Badmoon, which album is your avatar from? think we have that one.

OH! And I love Richard Manuel's voice. Its amazing. He's slowly surpassing Robertson as coolest cat in The Band, but I think I'll leave them tied.

Badmoon 01-18-2005 02:27 PM

Grateful Dead - Blues for Allah

I've been trying to put in sections of different Grateful Dead albums every so often. I have also been adding a lyrical quote on my usetitle from the album my avatar shows.

+Rep for anyone who can guess what song that quote is from (It's easy).

magicbus 01-18-2005 02:36 PM

Yea my dad has that one. Is it any good? And how about Skeletons In the Closet?

Badmoon 01-18-2005 02:46 PM

Blues For Allah is fantastic. Very diverse also. And Skeletons in the Closet is just a bad compilation, though it was the first Dead album I owned.

He's already cooler than Robertson in my eyes, and Shape I'm In is my favorite song on The Last Waltz.
