Let x equal the first piece.
The second piece is 4 feet loinger than the first, so the second is x+4.
The third is twice as long as the second piece, which means 2(x+4).

The total length is 20 feet. x + x + 4 + 2(x+4) = 20

x+x+4+2x+8 = 20
Add like terms.

4x + 12 = 20
Use the differential theorem to get the x's by themselves (AKA subtract by 12 on both sides).

4x= 20-12
4x=8

x=2

That means the first piece is 2, the second is 2+4, the third is 2(2+4)

First=2
Second=6
Third=12

I rule.

I think you'd just factor out the (m+5)^4 so you get a gargungous number, use the difference theorem to get [whatever (m+5)^4 is] - m - 5 = 0, then just pull out a common factor (which it doesn't look like it's going to be anything, really...)

Same for numero dos.

Hey kids vote on my comp.

I'm finally home, just downloading some stuff for my girlfriend. Tried to record the Coffee Shop solo, but the thinggot all disorted, whcih is kind of strange cause it usually records just fine. Hope it ain't permanent.

not up to much, doing a bio lab report, freaking long a[COLOR=White]ss[/COLOR]ed assignment... other than that, listening to some rage against the machine to make the work and time go along smoother, and resisting the temptation to pick up my bass and procrastinate some more on this (i did it all weekend).
