Calssic rock is definatly coming back at my school too a lot of bands like the doors, beatles , the who and van halen unfortunatly a lot of people are into newer bands like thursday and taking back sunday. I have nothing against these bands there music just doesnt seem fun.if you watch old bands like Van halen or AC/DC(my personal favrite) they were all about having fun I mean look at the way eddie dresses and he smiles when he plays those awsome solos that is rock and roll If you watch those bands and listen to the words then i mean ...... in my bonfire ACDC set bon scott has a quote in there saying "all the songs we write are about one of three things: sex booze or rocknroll" thats where its at to me
Yea classic rock bands were more about having fun. I mean a lot of those guys would just jam together, not even on stage but in the studio. Nobody does that today because they see other bands as a threat to their popularity.
Sweetheart of the Rodeo is the biggist album IMO.
Well, it is one of the groups most underrated, even though the album is the group's greatest release.
Well, it is one of the groups most underrated, even though the album is the group's greatest release.
The Byrds as a whole seem underrated behind Mr. Tamborine Man; Turn, Turn, Turn; and Eight Miles High.

Badmoon 03-09-2005 09:19 PM

They pretty much started off the 2nd and greatest wave of Country Rock.

Glitterati 03-09-2005 09:27 PM

To change the topic slightly, is anyone a fan of the New York Dolls? I've been fascinated with the early 70's New York music scene lately (Velvet Underground and such) and they were really good. Any thoughts?

They were from New Jersey and yea their OK.

thickasabrick 03-09-2005 09:43 PM

Anyone here heard any songs off of Robert Plants upcoming album? I heard his first single today...I was very very impressed. It sounds like mid seventies Zeppelin, like from Physical Graffiti. Hopefully the whole album is really good. He still sounds sort of the same, but he's developed a new singing style, not really his girlish wail anymore (that I try so hard to mimic).

Ben Harper - Burn One Down
Ben Harper - Mama's Got a Girlfriend

^Two cool songs. I've owned Live From Mars since October, but I haven't appreciated it till now.

I just finished editting my Country Rock featured genre, and it's ready to go up.

I'm prepared for another two pages of comments, when all the others have beyond 10. :(

Badmoon 03-09-2005 10:00 PM

Will I post it tonight? No, I'll post it when Manu and Fast Fingers give me the O.K. to.

So, right after I post mine, email both of them and ask if you can do the next. :)

Groovy Ill do that. :)

So what is everyone's favorite modern band?

I would say mine would be Raidiohead or Portishead.

I'll admit, I don't listen to a lot of modern bands. I listen to a lot of U2 and Chili Peppers, although they have been around since the eighties so it doesn't really count. I really like Coldplay and...um...Maroon 5.

About the Mars Volta: Have heard their new album? Would they be considerd "Trip-Hop"?

Badmoon 03-09-2005 10:38 PM

The lead singer from the Killers is very annoying, IMO.

Modern Bands
------------------
Jam Bands
Wilco
Polyphonic Spree
Flaming Lips

You are way off. And you call yourself a Psychedelia fan.

The Flaming Lips and The Polyphonic Spree (Featured in my avatar) are two of Neo-Psychedelia's top bands.
About the Mars Volta: Have heard their new album? Would they be considerd "Trip-Hop"?
i have heard their new album and its very good. i dont know about trip hop. i would classify them more as modern prog with an edge of emo. but the emo only comes from their singer. their new album is very experimental though. cant wait to see them live but i have to wait until may.

he can get a bit obnoxious but i actually enjoy his voice most of the time.

Badmoon 03-09-2005 10:46 PM

Mars Volta come from the emo band At the Drive In. Though the Mars Volta themselves contain very, very few elements of emo, if not none.

I know I hear people say that but when I listined to them I was EXTREMLY diappointed. I want to hear this band. (The Polyphonic Spree) Sample?

Badmoon 03-09-2005 10:52 PM

Okay, I will post another one!!! You have not heard enough Flaming Lips either.

The one I will post will not be as Psychedelic as songs from there first album, but most like it. Remember, be opened minded. You probably have not heard any band like this. They're original.

ATM 03-09-2005 10:53 PM

What Flaming Lips songs do you recommend Badmoon?

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 03-09-2005 10:57 PM

I heard Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots half way though I shut it off and the next day I sold it.

Badmoon 03-09-2005 10:57 PM

Some good ones
--------------------
Turn it On
She Don't Use Jelly
Race for the Prize
Fight Test
Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Do You Realize
Bad Day

But if you're looking for one, download "Fight Test". Everyone loves that song.

As for the Spree. The closest band or thing you can relate to them are the makers and music of Jesus Christ Superstar.
