Steerpike 07-10-2005 12:03 AM

Out of curiosity, how are we going to do the show?

magicbus 07-10-2005 12:05 AM
Especially a brand new user. Literally one post into his MX career.

Sorry to disappoint. ;)
Yea, it's a good thing we didn't lose you.

Steerpike, I get your avatar now. I always thought Weebl and Bob to be eggs, so is it a ninja-pirate egg? Or am I still off on the food?

Hehe, thanks. Nah, I wouldn't have left after expending all that effort.

And I know that YDload's a good poster. So he shouldn't think that no one gives him respect.

Steerpike 07-10-2005 12:08 AM
AH thought of doing "episodes" to the MX history threads. Which is a pretty good idea.

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=343797
Explain to me a little better how that works, because it's not really sinking in.

He's a mushroom.
Those are links to the most memorable threads on MX, and AH thought it would be a good idea to base some "episodes" off of those threads... Like storylines/plots would come out of the idea of thread kinda.
Oh.

magicbus 07-10-2005 12:25 AM

I'm having so much fun in the Mx History thread. Some of these are actually making me LOL. Big time.

Check out this one, and read everything threadstarter says. HILARIOUS.

I was doing that with some vids not too long ago. I waited about an hour, and then it said some crap like, "Server not Available."

Yeah, the message just came up about four seconds ago.

I could use so many words to express my emotions right now, but I'll not do that for obvious reasons.

On a light note, who enjoys musicals here? I like Les Miserables the best.
Ever see Cannibal! the musical? That is some high quality shit right there. Trey Parker and Matt Stone made it in college

And you guys are all wrong, the best south park episode is by far Scott Tenorman Must Die. I mean come on, cartman buys some kids pubes because he is an idiot, then spends the entire episode trying to get his money back. When he cant do that he kills Scott's parents, puts them in chili, feeds them to him, then has radiohead come (who is Tenormans favorite band) and call him a crybaby when he is in tears after finding out he just ate his parents. Then to top it all off cartman starts licking the tears off the table and says "yes, let me taste your tears of infathomable sadness".

Nothing beats that, NOTHING.
Definately. I hate it how when anything is wrong with the US, American Conservatives always find some way to put the blame on Clinton. I'm not saying he was flawless, I'm just saying that he did a lot of good things for the country. Things that we realize more now, that Bush has torn it apart.
That isnt entirely true, if you want to discuss this further we can take it to IM (both my AIM and MSN are in my profile here) because the last thing i want is to turn this thread into a hardcore political debate, and since im probably one of the very few conservatives here, it would be suicide for me to try and go against the whole thread. I will however say that this particular statement is completely biased with quite a few facts ignored.
Yeah, but you can't say he didn't help this country.
Yes i can, and will. Clinton did not help this country. He was just a smooth talker and charismatic which gave people a higher opinion of him. I am willing to bet that if G.W. was able to talk like clinton did and had clintons personality, even if everything he did in office was the exact same as he has done thus far, the American people would have a much higher opinion of him.

Also, because Roy Halladay went down with an injury, Matt Clement is going to the All Star Game in his place. That's five Red Sox on the AL All Star Team

I know, it's a joke, inspired by various death and black metal bands claiming they were war in German, because it sounds evil. :)

As for the Phantom Of The Opera talk, I have both the musical and the movie soundtracks on my comp. :D

Bazarov 07-10-2005 04:25 AM

Hey Riva, sorry if you've already explained. But what happened to last week's Monday Night Mayhem?

Riva 07-10-2005 04:30 AM

It was my week off. I'm in full swing for this week's though. :)

EDIT-OMG 616, I better hurry up and post and get rid of this evil number.

Whats the specs going to be, nubb?

NJMetalMeister 07-10-2005 08:20 AM

Not totally sure yet, things that are for certain:

2 GB ram (minimum, depending on the price i can get on ram i may buy more)
AMD 64 of some sort
most likely MSI motherboard, as they have worked very well in the past for me
PCI express 16 GeForce 6800GT
unsure on soundcard, been using Creative cards in the past, might try for something new, but definitely 7.1 capabilities

Eventually I will dual processor it, once i get a job settled and what not, so it will be a beast and a half to say the least

Arucard 07-10-2005 08:23 AM

I wouldn't go over 2 GB of RAM, it ends up nuking your system and mainly slows it down, and wastes money. No SLI graphics? What about one of the new Dual Core processers?

NJMetalMeister 07-10-2005 08:26 AM

ah see while the dual core would be very nice, money is a factor and a half. While from newegg.com i can get an AMD 64 for a lot less than a dual core, and as long as i get a motherboard that is capable of dual processors, then it doesnt really matter.

As far as over the 2gb of ram thing, as long as you set anything over the 2gb as extra cache for quick reference, it will not nuke your system and slow it down, in fact it speeds it up, but that is not necessarily the easiest thing to do in the world.

However I did make my first purchase towards the machine, i was able to find a 19" LCD for $200, same one a friend of mine bought 2 months ago for 650, and its a fantastic monitor he claims, and wall mountable, so its win win really.

probably have a DVD burner sent home soon too, since they are so cheap now anyway, and i can throw it in my current machine until i have all the parts for the new one, seeing as i do not have a DVD burner at all yet.

Edit: i forgot to add, that depending on how much money i am getting whever i work during the semester, i may do something crazy like get a water cooling system as well, but ill have to see.

Arucard 07-10-2005 08:30 AM

Cool. The computer im getting is dirt cheap, as im getting it from my local LAN games café thats shutting down. For £350 i get :

3000+ AMD
1 Gig Ram
One of those cool cases with the lights and stuff.
256mb GeForce FX5700 LE (Not very good, but with all the money im saving i expect to get one of the newer Radeon 512mb)
80Gig HD
Windows XP
Office 2004
17" CRT Monitor (selling straight away to some idiot, then just buying a nice TFT).

I think thats pretty good for 350.

Well considering i have no idea what the prices for computer parts are like in the UK, converted to dollars its still a pretty good deal. Breaking it down you look at it like this:

Starting: $700 (roughly)

3000+ AMD XP: $120
1gb RAM (Depending on speed though): $80
Case with window + lights: $80
GeForce card: $130 (although i wouldnt switch to ATI, they have major issues with certain types of graphic rendering, but thats just my opinion)
Hard Drive: $60
17" monitor: $50

Which is $520 without any software or anything, not including motherboard price, or anything like that, so yeah you are getting off with a pretty good deal. Hard drive is a bit low in size for my tastes, i mean back at home I had a 160 gb hard drive and filled it up in about 2 months time. Here i have a 60, and its rough keeping my crap limited., but not shabby at all.
