Jim Morrison is one cool guy
*was |
He's as dead as hair metal.
*that means that he's really dead |
Do you know what's an interesting question to ponder...
You know how people always say famous people aren't dead, like Elvis, Jim Morrison, Tupac etc. If they really faked their deaths, do you think they are dead by now anyways? Like I'm sure Elvis would be, and Jim Morrison defnitely couldn't last much longer the way he was living, hopefully Tupac really did get shot. anyone ever think about that? Or do you just all beleive they are dead and that's that? |
...why do you hope Tupac really did get shot?
Fucking asshole. |
If he wanted to live "the thug life", get involved in gangs and drug deals and violence..then he deserves to be shot. Anyone involved in that kind of stuff deserves to get shot, just to teach them a lesson. It brings down society and causes unneccesary problems for the world, and flushes our hard earned money down the drain. Tupac admitted to be involved in gangs, and carried a gun, and was a suspect in a gang murder. If he was living like that, he wasn't any real use to the world, just a waste of space. He deserved to get shot, it's not my fault he died from his choices in life.
edit- or do you support drive by shootings, prostution, rape, murder, dealing heroin to kids etc etc? If so, I apoligize for being a "fucking asshole." |
Nobody "deserves" to die, with a few exceptions.
I'll bet you're a Christian. |
...why do you hope Tupac really did get shot?
Fucking asshole.
calm down man. dont have a ****ing heart attack. |
I take umbrage when I see that someone wishes someone else was dead.
|
I'm the furthest thing from a Christian you've ever seen. Actually, I was born a Christian, but my minister (or whatever you call them) asked my mom if I would just stay at home, because I was too disruptive in Church. So technically I'm supposed to be Christian, but they kinda kicked me out of their religion. Plus they don't support gays.
edit- but hey, sorry for making you angry...opinions are opinions and i suppose i should respect yours, as you should respect mine. but lets stop spamming up this thread with our thoughts and views on things that no longer relate to classic rock. i dont want any more people hating me just because i spammed. |
You/your parents kicked you out of the religion.
|
I don't think it's right to say that he deserved to die. As far as we know he was a [mostly] good person and a gifted individual.
|
Guys, take it to AIM if this is going to become a big argument.
|
I never wanted to be a part of the religion in the first place, that's why I was bad in church. I don't like having a set list of rules telling me what to beleive in and what not too, I'm not a robot, I can think for myself. I'm not like a satan worshipper or anything, I do admire a lot of the values that religions teach...I just can't be bothered to conform entirely to their views.
It's actually pretty strange how religious a lot of famous musicians are, like Cat Stevens, and even Bob Dylan. edit- I knew Rock would find his way into our "discussion." Tell ya what, lets make this classic rock related, lets talk about musicians and their religions (or lack of). Bob Dylan was Christian, as is apparent in his Slow Train Coming album. Gotta Serve Somebody is a pretty good song. |
Religion isn't really a Canadian thing. Barely anyone I know is religious.
|

My statement still remains true. On Topic: Jimmy Herring kicks ass at guitar. |

George Harrison, Jerry Garcia, Bob Marley, etc |
Bob Marley was indeed a devout Rastafari. I should think about converting.
(I'm an agnostic/deist, for the record) |
George Harrison, Jerry Garcia, Bob Marley, etc
All Christians? I'm just about 105% sure Bob Marley was Rastafarian, what were Garcia and Harrison all about. I think Harrison was pretty Christian wasn't he. I have no clue about Jerry Garcia though. edit- like Rock said, most Canadians aren't really religious (although i know a few who are very religious). What's your religion all about Disconnection Notice? I'm actually embaressed to say I haven't a clue. |
When you're agnostic or deist, you believe in God, but you don't agree with the teachings of major religions.

never eard of that  |
Guys, badmoon and I have an idea. We think that this htread should be changed to the classic rock/jam rock thread. We talk about jam enough here and it would be nice to keep it all on topic. Plus it is "rock" music. Classic rock and jam have ties, the dead and the allmans are a bit of both.
What's everyone's opinion? |
Seriously?
EDIT: To led_zep_luvr. As for the issue rock not roll brought up, I can't see why not, even if I don't like jam bands. |
Indeed, it's not like the conversation would change.

B. Marley - Chrisian/Rastafarian J. Garcia - Christian G. Harrison - Christian Jerry actually strongly disliked John Lennon as a person because he interfiered with his belief. When Garcia was going to meet Lennon for the first time at the backstage of a Dead concert, Lennon approached him and kept calling Jerry "J.C.". Lennon also asked Bill Graham (Fillmore owner/Grateful Dead friend) to find him a large amp and guitar so he could walk on stage and play over Garcia's. |

Hey that's sorta what I am I suppose, and I didn't even realize it. I like to believe there is a higher power of some sort, like a God, or guardian angels, or spirits (like Native Americans belive)...but I find it hard to believe all the stuff religions try to tell us. Do you guys know of any Christian (or any other religion) classic rock bands? I remember I've heard one song from a Christian rock band on my local Classic Rock radio station, it wasn't a bad song, although it was a little cheesy (kinda 80's). I don't remember the name or the band though. |
Guys, enough of the religon talk. We need to focus on the issue at hand.
|
We all say yes, plus we are still on topic. We are talking about Classic Rock artists that are religious.
|
I don't like having a middleman around who takes my money, bullies me around, and tells me how to worship God (which, let's not kid ourselves, is all Christianity, and probably Islam and Judiasm, does). I think people should be free to worship God (or whatever higher power they believe in) any way they choose.
I personally can't think of any Christian classic rock bands offhand...I don't think any classic rock bands were religious because they wanted to be the exact opposite of the generation before them (who were for the most part deeply religious). Just a crackpot theory I came up with. |
Is someone complaining about our talk of jam bands? I haven't notice anyone telling us to keep on track in this thread. But if it's not a hassle for the mods to change the name of the thread, then why not..it's not gonna hurt anything. I think it's a decent idea, as long as Bonzo doesn't mind us changing his wonderful thread, as it is the only thing newer members know him by anyway.
We might as well just call it the "Classic Rock and Jam Band Community Thread". That way there's just about no way we can get off topic ;) (not totally serious of course) |
We all say yes, plus we are still on topic. We are talking about Classic Rock artists that are religious.
Oh fine. I;'m sure the other regulars would say yes. Did Bob Dylan become a jew, your christian and then become a jew again? I'm confuzzeled. |
