Haha oh man, I've completely corrupted my sisters taste in music. She used my computer to make a CD, and the songs she chose just makes me laugh considering what she used to listen to.
Well, share.

ATM 06-12-2006 12:04 AM

I'll post it in a sec, but on a side note, the Thom Yorke album is kind of meh but the title track is really nice.

I think I like Black Swan the most

Interstate 06-12-2006 04:27 AM

I need more sleep!

Kyle 06-12-2006 04:52 AM

Pretty sure I just failed my English Lit exam, I'm so pissed off right now  I wasn't answering the quastion, and I knew I was doing it, but couldn't get back on track, most frustrating thing ever. I've really enjoyed studying Phillip Larkin, but I hate him now!

She used to be one of those "i like everything" people, not really taking an interest in music.

I started inviting her to shows and she even registered on MX at one point haha

edit: oh yea she made this for her road trip down to florida

pppoe 06-12-2006 08:27 AM

I've influenced all of my friends' tastes.

Kyle 06-12-2006 08:42 AM

I've got my friends into the odd band here and there, but most of the stuff I listen to is pretty common anyway I think.

I've got my best friend into Matisyahu, MF DOOM/Dangerdoom, Mastodon, Strapping Young Lad and Corrosion of Conformity. Probably a few others, but his tastes are pretty similar to mine anyway.

pppoe 06-12-2006 08:45 AM

Everyone used to listen to other really bad stuff, but then I started with my criticism and name-dropping, and they picked up almost every band I used to like. It's kind of weird and makes me feel uncomfortable, knowing that people kind of look up to you or something. It's like I'm the leader of some really lame scene.

Glitterati 06-12-2006 10:47 AM
I've influenced all of my friends' tastes.
I've gotten my friends into Richard Hell, The Flaming Lips, X, The Dead Milkmen, Sigur Ros, ELO, and The Jesus And Mary Chain, to name a few.

asymm 06-12-2006 10:58 AM
I've influenced all of my friends' tastes.
I used to try and do this. It worked in some cases, but ultimately I realized that they just ended up listening to it without any of the passion. So it was just a bunch of zombie "music lovers". I want them to genuinely enjoy the music, instead of feeling a pressure from me pushing it onto them. So now I tend to talk about it less...

pppoe 06-12-2006 11:12 AM
So now I tend to talk about it less...
Me too. It kind of sucks because I don't know what else to talk about.

asymm 06-12-2006 11:17 AM

Ouch. Yeah, yeah, I know that feeling. When I'm with my 'music' friends we can talk about essentially continuously without any pauses. But if that social safety net isn't there, I can be quite fucked.

I swear less on mx than in real life because of all the work it entails to keep it uncensored. I suppose that's the point.

Cool Beans 06-12-2006 12:16 PM

Not upto much, just going out and getting drunk :)

6 weeks left of school, no exams coming up, it's all good :)

Zappa 06-12-2006 12:39 PM

Yesterday was my graduation open house. Pretty fun.

Glitterati 06-12-2006 12:46 PM

When it was time to party Zappa partied hard :-o

Interstate 06-12-2006 03:10 PM

I need to listen to more Pavement.

pppoe 06-12-2006 03:11 PM

Do something about it.

BringHomeTheBacon 06-12-2006 03:23 PM

I went to an independent record store the other day looking to buy something by Pavement and they didn't have anything. Independent record store not having Pavement? Guess I'll have to use Amazon.

Sam 06-12-2006 03:32 PM

Pavement isn't indie anymore, they haven't been for awhile. I'm pretty sure Matador is owned by Atlantic.

pppoe 06-12-2006 03:35 PM

Pavement is one of those bands that you could find in a larger record store, so instead of stocking up on things that people could find elsewhere, they order rarities and albums by lesser known bands.

YDload 06-12-2006 05:14 PM

Dillinger Escape Plan has a new EP coming out on iTunes (wtf) tomorrow. It has covers of Soundgarden, NIN, and Justin Timberlake songs.

pppoe 06-12-2006 05:15 PM

That sounds like Hell, YDload.

el doctor 06-12-2006 06:25 PM

I think I just might sit through Letterman a few times this week. His musical guests starting tomorrow are Cat Power, Neko Case, Widespread Panic, and Sonic Youth. Sounds like fun.

pppoe 06-12-2006 06:26 PM

Neko Case. <3

YDload 06-12-2006 06:30 PM

yeah Conan isn't the only one who can have lesser-known A/I musical guests. good news as him and Letterman are the only late-night talk shows I can stand.

Little Man being Erased 06-12-2006 08:00 PM

Australia are going to win the World Cup!

Maybe not but they were awesome last night against Japan.

The Great Decay 06-12-2006 08:00 PM

I like the Cobert Report.

cb240 06-12-2006 08:14 PM

The Colbert Report wouldn't be on TV if young people in this country were educated.

Zmev 06-12-2006 08:28 PM

New Sonik Youff tomorrow.

Sam 06-12-2006 08:30 PM

I'm seeing them in D.C. on thursday. Last day of school.

Zmev 06-12-2006 08:45 PM

I'm seeing them July 16th

Kurtz 06-12-2006 08:47 PM
The Colbert Report wouldn't be on TV if young people in this country were educated.
but we're not, so just enjoy the fucking show

PinkFreud 06-12-2006 10:18 PM

That Dillinger Escape Plan EP sounds amazing. I wish Patton was still involved though.

So I went to Tilly & The Wall instead of the strip club. It was ok, I guess. They're way too....happy. Really bouncy. I guess I prefer my music angry or sad. Or both.

FA 06-12-2006 10:38 PM
yeah Conan isn't the only one who can have lesser-known A/I musical guests. good news as him and Letterman are the only late-night talk shows I can stand.
123. There's occasionally good tunes on both programs and they're monologues aren't so lame.

Little Man being Erased 06-12-2006 10:44 PM

Conan's pretty rad, Letterman's pretty lame. Let's not talk about Leno.

cb240 06-12-2006 10:46 PM
but we're not, so just enjoy the fucking show
That's ok, if I wanted to hear all the obvious jokes, I'd listen to my inner monologue as I read the paper.

Jacaranda 06-12-2006 10:50 PM

Leno sometimes has some neat guests. [Announcer Voice]Like tonights musical guest: Gnarls Barkley![/Announcer Voice]
Oh gay.

Little Man being Erased 06-12-2006 10:52 PM

oshi

BillCosby 06-12-2006 10:56 PM

I'm so stoked for Gnarls next month. I don't have to sit through a Leno monologue to see them live, Peeping Tom are opening instead, HOW COOL IS THAT
