/Slits wrists...

So, what albums have you guys been into lately? I just got out of WYWH, now I don't have an album obsession.

lunch998 03-08-2005 07:07 PM
Agrees with you 100%.
There wasn't much bluegrass discussion, since only one person here can discuss that. I don't know what you guys have against jam bands.

magicbus 03-08-2005 07:08 PM

Lately I've been diggin Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa, always Floyd, anything Eric Clapton, and more blues orientated things.

I don't have anything against jam bands. I just can't discuss them because I know nothing about them.

Tubular Bells dude. It's the new fad, so you better conform. I already got Bartender, Efilnikufesin, and thickasabrick.

jpj 03-08-2005 07:08 PM

I was always listening to Eat a Peach then I had a sudden uncontrollable urge to listen to WYWH. Now, I don't have an obsession.

I listened to Tubular Bells Pt. 1, I liked it.

I don't, it's when we talk about newer bands that do not belong in a classic rock thread.

jpj 03-08-2005 07:12 PM

The lack of a bass solo on At Fillmore East makes me sad.

Woodstock 03-08-2005 07:13 PM

/is listening to Eat A Peach right now.

lunch998 03-08-2005 07:14 PM

Why do I like Live at the Fillmore more than Eat a Peach?

jpj 03-08-2005 07:14 PM

Whipping Post is ending :(

/put in BB&HC-Cheap Thrills

I'll give those of you without this album a sample soon.

lunch998 03-08-2005 07:25 PM

All I have is Janis Joplin's greatist hits...

Pearl is supposed to be a good album.

Lately I've been diggin' acoustic blues-Son House, Robert Johnson etc.

I love the raw sound of it all.

Woodstock 03-08-2005 07:32 PM

Ok, sample time. The first song is pretty slow, but it has excellent guitar work, and gets pretty heavy towards the end. The second song is very funky/groovy.

"Summertime":

"I Need A Man To Love":

Both off Big Brother & The Holding Company's Cheap Thrills.

lunch998 03-08-2005 07:35 PM

I'm not really a fan of Summertime.

It's on your greatest hits?

Broken Arrow 03-08-2005 07:36 PM

Does anyone know who likearollingstone64@hotmail.com is?

They added me and I'm trying to find out who it is.

lunch998 03-08-2005 07:37 PM
It's on your greatest hits?
Yea, actually I'm giving it another listen, and I would love it except Janis's voice annoys me in some parts.

I just love the guitar work. Sounds very depressing/suicidal.

Yea the guitar is fantastic.

They have a live album which I'm now considering getting, Live at Winterland in 1968.

MalcolmYoungRock 03-08-2005 07:44 PM

I have the Essential Janis Joplin.

I like "Piece of My Heart" a lot.

Well, consider this.

Cheap Thrills was released in 1968, and was a completely live album. But if LAW has more songs, I'd get it.

They share a few tracks, but LAW has more so I'll probably end up getting it.

Well, my comment on Cream wasn't supposed to be mean, nor was I completely serious by stating "They aren't original".
Badmoon, you are just full of pessimissim. Maybe if Lennon was your idol, like mine, you'd take life in a whole uplifting perspective
Lennon was too self centered, and blasphemous for my liking. I believe I have told you all the story of the negative confrontation between Garcia and Lennon. And I think having Jerry Garcia as an idol point me in a positive direction.

Badmoon 03-08-2005 08:14 PM
Cheap Thrills
Good album :thumb:

"Ball and Chain", "Piece of My Heart", etc. It's got it all.

I may get another chance to shroom this weekend. :)
Well, I my comment of Cream wasn't supposed to be mean, nor was I completely serious by stating "They aren't original".
I knew you were somewhat joking, just pointing out that they have a cool version of Sitting On Top of the World as well, I think.

Is Electric Music for the Mind and Body good?

Badmoon 03-08-2005 08:19 PM

Well, it is known as one of the greatest Psychedelic albums ever.

Three of Bob Weir's solo albums were just reissued.
