I don't see how boring is an appropriate word choice. They're consistently entertaining because everything about their sound is completely unnecessary.

hismajestythepope 04-13-2009 02:16 PM

The only album of theirs I heard was pretty mellowed out and really boring.

Unless there's two Pavors, idk.

Tyler 04-13-2009 02:18 PM

I don't think there's more than one Pavor, but the one I'm talking about is the band where the bassist is just shredding completely unnecessarily 100% of the time. It doesnt fit with the music at all and it's really just more hilarious than it is impressive.

Deth 04-13-2009 02:20 PM
i thought you'd like it just cuz i always assumed you had a hard-on for try-too-hard bassists.
nah I don't like Pavor at all really, just the comedy factor there. I like Steve Digorgio a lot, but he usually knows what he's doing. Can't think of any others.

Tyler 04-13-2009 02:20 PM

Pavor would actually be somewhat decent if the guy toned it down a couple hundred notches

Deth 04-13-2009 02:21 PM

Can't see that happening soon.

Tyler 04-13-2009 02:26 PM

Yeah, the catch-22 is that the only reason anybody even knows their name is because they've got commander doofus on the bass.

Anthracks 04-13-2009 02:29 PM
I listened to one Obscura song and it was boring as hell.
not that i like obscura or anything, but do you really expect to like most death metal after one listen? usually the best stuff takes awhile...just sayin

Moon Flavor 04-13-2009 02:30 PM

Obscura's pretty lame

never heard of pavor

Tyler 04-13-2009 02:31 PM

I liked Obscura after one listen and my interest has steadily decreased since. I'd argue that's their main appeal: it's shallow and fun stuff with little-to-no substance that you can throw on when you get bored or cant decide what to listen to.

hismajestythepope 04-13-2009 02:41 PM

Yep.

it's death metal we're talking about, not free jazz or anything

I know what I like within the genre, it didn't meet those standards and I didn't like it.

hismajestythepope 04-13-2009 04:08 PM

They'd be good if they stuck to MDM and stopped trying to go beyond those segments, imo.

Gangrene 04-13-2009 05:28 PM
you can throw on when you get bored or cant decide what to listen to.
onward to golgotha (10/10)>diabolical conquest (9.5/10)>mortal throne of nazarene (9/10)>primordial domination (8/10)>the rest

DBlitz 04-15-2009 09:40 AM

yea i think you recommended mortal throne the last time i asked.

that will be the next one i get

masscows 04-15-2009 09:48 AM

it's definitely their heaviest one

RetiredAt21 04-15-2009 10:04 AM

I only have Onward To Golgotha, I gotta get some more stuff, too.

rasputin 04-15-2009 10:10 AM

just downloaded diabolical conquest

RetiredAt21 04-15-2009 10:11 AM

Tell me how awesome it is.

rasputin 04-15-2009 10:13 AM

it starts off with riffs and now i'm 10 seconds in and there are more riffs and it's really fast. it's not as murky as golgotha, sounds a lot more similar to immolation. vocals are like blurgh blurgh raaargh and then he was like EEYAH and the riffs stopped and then they started and awesome

RetiredAt21 04-15-2009 10:15 AM

I'll definitely DL that **** when I gets home.

Angmar 04-15-2009 01:24 PM

It's their best tbh.

RetiredAt21 04-15-2009 02:22 PM
It's their best tbh.
Whaaaaat?

Downloading now.

Deth 04-15-2009 02:45 PM

Diabolical Conquest is elitery on the highest level. It has crushed 12 ZOGs.

Anthracks 04-15-2009 02:50 PM

rly liking the new abysmal torment but it took 3 listens to sink in

hismajestythepope 04-15-2009 04:13 PM

Sounds generic.

Nosferatu 04-16-2009 05:26 PM

Diabolical Conquest>Mortal Throne>Onward to Golgotha>rest of discog.
