not sure. My friend is borrowing/ is gonna buy my recording equipment (GNX4 + microphone)

my singer and i are going to the shop tomorrow to possible purchase something actually. If i can find anything to record with, ill just record the hard bits and post them.

edit : if i say i "nailed" a section, i really did. I know the difference anyway.

I finally "nailed" my favorite part of the song. Not the taps, those were easy. Im talking about the fast descending run after the chorus theme. Here, i was playing it in triplets, which essentially is correct, but if you listen to the recording, he actually phrases the passages in sextuplets. Once i realized that, the light bulb went on, and i get excited whenever i play it

MRDuCran 06-23-2006 10:30 AM

I haven't actually listened to Children of Bodom in a few weeks. I've been so busy doing college work, and downloading crap from other bands etc. And practising for a performance, I should get back to it though 'cause they're great.

repcak 06-23-2006 11:17 AM

i have always phases when i listen a lot to cob then i don't listen to them for several weeks.

Same with me...still haven't gotten back into COB mode yet. It's been mostly trying to write my own music recently.

TEST 06-24-2006 01:48 AM

I've dropped writing my own music. It got old.
So has guitar though. I still enjoy playing, but it's not the same.
Got a new geetar though
ESP H-250 and it's autographed by Megadeth (I like em somewhat, though it's surely an excellent resale (if I ever sold the guitar).

Apocalyptic Raids 06-24-2006 07:23 AM

I rarely have the urge to write original material.

repcak 06-24-2006 07:42 AM

i fail in writting whole songs... i have always an idea, write it in GP4, but then i fail making the interludes and build the whole song... to make it longer, to write some more riffs which would fit into the song, etc.

mostly i write one riff, maybe two - put them together and thats all. :-/ most "songs" i wrote are not longer than 15seconds

repcak 06-24-2006 11:01 AM

i just discovered a band from graz (a city some 100km away from vienna). the singer/guitarist is 18 years old, keyboarder 14 or 15yrs old.
they are really nice, though i only listened to one song by them ... and they sound like CoB :)

There seems to be some potential There/

repcak 06-24-2006 11:50 AM

yeah, they seem to be great. though i have to say that they are some mistakes on the song , but i'm not sure... curious what Mitch and Kurrpt will say to the song.

i will stay in contact with the lead-guitarist/singer of the band ... its amazing how i discovered them. i already asked him how i can purchase their cd

AA-12 06-24-2006 11:57 AM

That band is pretty good. I like them more than CoB actually.

repcak 06-24-2006 12:02 PM

do not hyperbolic

repcak 06-24-2006 12:32 PM

the riff from 2:15 till 2:23 is taken from kalmah... can you hear the similarities? its not exactly the same riff, but the same chords and timing.

TEST 06-24-2006 03:23 PM

So only Kalmah can play in (fill in the timing)?

repcak 06-24-2006 04:38 PM

no, but the riff was very similar to a riff by kalmah (don't know which song); they didn't "stole" it 100%, but its nearly the same riff - they mixed it up a little bit.

They're ok imo.

The lead bit at 11 secs sounds like it's taken from Downfall and modified a bit.

I agree it sounds a lot like Kalmah, not really like Bodom if you ask me. I mean it's the same instruments and screaming but the whole atmosphere isn't the same.

AA-12 06-24-2006 06:33 PM

I actually like this band way more than Kalmah, Bodom, etc. The vocals are awesome, very black metalish.

Shadows Within 06-24-2006 06:36 PM

Hey Wotan or fannk castle did you ever go to your guitar center and find out what that keyboard stand is called?

AA-12 06-24-2006 06:37 PM

I haven't been to that one in a while, sorry man. Check this out though: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/key/navigation?N=100001+304711

MRDuCran 06-24-2006 09:10 PM

I went through the Slient Night, Bodom Night solo today and got it pretty close. I can do all of it except the run from the low E to the high E, bend the 24th fret bit.
And I have to freshen up on a few notes but apart from that it was close.

AA-12 06-24-2006 09:18 PM

My guitar/size makes that solo hard.

MRDuCran 06-24-2006 10:37 PM

I can understand that.

I was going through it on my Warlock so it felt easy, but if I was to record it, I'd use my RG770 which has an old neck joint so I can hardly reach the 24th fret, let alone bending it up 1 1/2 steps easily with vibrato

TEST 06-24-2006 10:58 PM

Wow. I put new strings on my geetar. haha. It's soo amazing.

Forlorn Hope 06-24-2006 11:00 PM

I haven't re-strung my guitar for about two months. I need to though, the high e has that weird shaky sound when I hold out a note, especially on higher frets.

blue3 06-24-2006 11:03 PM

I can't believe that's your avatar. I haven't changed the guitar strings for one of my guitars, ever.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-24-2006 11:09 PM

I've changed the strings on my acoustic once in the three years I've had it.
